Before you read this RMT, I just want to clear 2 things up. 1: This RMT is of the "I actually need help" variety rather than the "I want to show off this cool team I made" variety. 2: I realize that there are about 20 RMTs posted here daily, and most of them don't get more than a single response, if that. If you have suggestions for this, team, don't feel pressured to write a paragraph about what the set does or whatever. I can figure that out through playtesting.
With that out of the way, the RMT:
black + scottish @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sharpness
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ceaseless Edge
- Sucker Punch
- Razor Shell
- Sacred Sword
You know him, you (maybe) despise him, iiiiiiitt's Hisuin Samurott! This thing sets spikes and acts as a good check to Kingambit and Gholdengo, who I believe are the two of the three most common and threatening pokemon right now, the other being Valiant. Assault Vest means it also has less fear switching into random stuff like Glowking Sludge Bombs and Heatran Magma Storms, giving it the opportunity to lay spikes more than once per game. 4th favorite nickname on the team
tiny baby man @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Spinner
- Headlong Rush
- Stealth Rock
It's Offensive Tusk™, offensive and tusky as ever. Provides Spin support for my rocks-weak defensive pokemon, especially Zap as it frequently is tasked with taking Knock Offs over the game. Ice Spinner is for checking Dnite, who is otherwise a serious threat to the team, and can pop Gholdengo's Air Balloon in a pinch. Ground is the default Tera because realistically I'm never Terastalizing it and no other Tera sticks out as immediately better. Least favorite nickname on the team
visit your mother @ Wide Lens
Ability: Technician
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Tidy Up
- Population Bomb
- Bite
- Encore
The star of the team. Maushold's Population Bomb is absolutely nutty after a tidy up boost, OHKOing stuff like Rockpon and Offensive Tusk and getting 2HKOs on Gambit and Corv after rocks. Bite is Technician boosted and deals with Ghosts; Encore is general utility and can lock things like Gambit into Sucker or Zap into Roost, allowing setup. You'd think Tidy Up has negative synergy with Hamurott, but in most situations Maushold isn't using Tidy Up until the end of the game anyway when booster energies have been used on Valiant and Ghold is chipped enough to be KO'd by Bite, where hazards don't matter as much anyway. Favorite nickname on the team (but curse the nickname limit for not allowing the "well, off to" at the beginning)
chucklenuts @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Make It Rain
- Trick
- Shadow Ball
- Recover
Speed control and secondary Gholdengo + Valiant Check. Standard set. Recover is for having some sustain against bulkier teams. I originally had Focus Blast there instead, but Kingambit doesn't love getting tricked anyway. Fairy Tera was to resist Sucker Punches from Gambit when I had focus blast, but I'm not sure what to change it to now. Second favorite nickname on the team.
fat bald fatty fat @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Static
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Spe
- Thunder Wave
- Roost
- Hurricane
- Volt Switch
Physically defensive pivot. Provides paralysis support and checks Waterpon and BU Tusk, who is unusually threatening to this team. Pivots with Volt Switch, speed IVs are for the slower volt switch vs other Zapdos. Water Tera is again because I've found nothing better and am usually teraing somet 3rd favorite nickname on the team.
outsmart BOOLET (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 248 HP / 228 SpD / 32 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Will-O-Wisp
- Torch Song
- Slack Off
Specially defensive wall, downright counters a lot of stuff that was giving this team trouble, such as Iron Moth and Valiant due to them outspeed scarf Ghold. Speed EVs are to outspeed paralyzed Ogerpon, which comes up more often than you'd think. Hex is for better damage on neutral targets like Alomomomomola, who I fucking despise. 5th favorite nickname on the team.
I think the (or 'a') problem with this team is that I specifically prepare for the same threats that I know I'm going to be facing (gambit val ghold), rather than actually being a good team that is actually strong. For example, my team is really weak to Rockpon, but I don't know what I can change without leaving massive holes. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
