[SET COMMENTS]
Swords Dance Mawile stands as one of the most fearsome breakers in the tier, as the combination of good coverage and Huge Power make its defensive answers scarce. Sucker Punch makes up for its low speed tier against faster threats such as Garchomp and Heatran. Knock Off is used to easily break past Ferrothorn, with other utility in removing things like Heatran's Leftovers, while Thunder Punch can be used for a stronger hit against Toxapex and Corviknight. 164 Speed evs are used to outspeed uninvested Corviknight with the rest in HP to maximize it's bulk. Intimidate is used as the pre-mega ability as it can assist Mawile coming in and taking hits from threats like Mega Latias, Weavile or Clefable using its great defensive typing.
Due to Mawile's rather low defenses before Mega Evolution, partners that are able to take a hit and bring it in are highly valued, with Teleport users such as Blissey and Slowbro being excellent partners with it. Blissey is able to spread paralysis around to help Mawile potentially bypass its low speed against threats able to a stomach +2 Sucker Punch, such as Heatran lacking Taunt or Tapu Lele. Landorus-T also serves as an excellent partner, notably providing the ground immunity that Mawile is weak to, and facilitating Mawile's wallbreaking prowess either by getting it on the field with U-turn and Intimidate, wearing down checks like opposing Landorus-and Heatran with Stealth Rocks, or wallbreaking against Skarmory with a Swords Dance set. Mawile also pairs up well with fast Pokemon, such as Tapu Koko and Greninja, who either help it get on the field with Volt Switch or U-Turn, or lay down Spikes to wear down certain walls, such as Mega Scizor and Toxapex. One of Mawile's best traits is its ability to exert heavy pressure on any form of stall team a well most balance teams, so teammates that generally struggle against these playstyle fit well with it. Ash-Greninja in particular works excellently with Mawile, as the Spikes it lays can help Mawile more easily pick up KOs with Sucker Punch on Garchomp or Heatran, breaking through shared checks such as Ferrothorn or Toxapex with boosted Knock Off, topped off with double priority to lock down offensive teams.

[SET COMMENTS]
This set aims to achieve the best of both worlds, sacrificing it's sweeping potential for crucial coverage against various key targets such as Mega Scizor, Heatran, and Melmetal. Fire Fang cleaves right through Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn, with Brick Break also an option to break Ferrothorn while also pressuring Heatran switches. A riskier option in this slot is Focus Punch, which requires much more prediction that the other options, but can have potentially huge upsides, such as cleanly ohkoing Heatran, Melmetal Ferrothorn and Corviknight after forcing Roost, while also doing over half to Mega Scizor. Lastly, Ice Punch can catch ground types like Gliscor and Landorus-T off guard, with Knock Off also being an option to remove items like Rocky Helmet from Skarmory or Heatran's Leftovers to assist it later in the game. 204 Speed EVs allow this set to outpseed univnested Mega Scizor and OHKO with Fire Fang.
Teamates that can take hits from things that may threaten Mawile out are much appreciated. Teleport pivots remain excellent, with a special mention going to Slowking, who is able to provide both Future Sight and Teleport for Mawile, while also checking Heatran, who can be quite a nuisance for this set. Slowbro is also an excellent partner, that can check ground types like Gliscor and Landorus-T, who would can potentially switch in and threaten this set out with heavy damage. It should be noted that Slowbro does not check Heatran and Tapu Lele, unlike Slowking, and must be accounted for elsewhere, with answers such as Garchomp, Kommo-o or Hydreigon being good fits. Corviknight can provide Defog, bring Mawile in with U-turn and provides a more sturdy check to Rillaboom and Tapu Lele, threats Mawile does not appreciate taking repeated hits from. Landorus-T is able to either check opposing ground types, wear down checks with Stealth Rocks and Rocky Helmet, or get Mawile in with U-Turn and Intimidate. Paralysis support is also greatly appreciated for this set, either passively with Zapdos, or directly with a Glare Serperior or Thunder Wave Blissey. Zapdos provides Defog while Serperior reliably dishes out paralysis to Heatran and Corviknight, boosting Mawile's sweeping potential even higher. Tapu Koko provides a powerful Volt Switch to get in Mawile versus special walls such as Blissey, and provides a nice boost to Thunder Punch, enabling it to 2HKO Heatran.

=============
Subsitute sets with Focus Punch, Ice Punch and Thunder Punch so as to ease prediction could be used, however Substitute can be challenging to get off, while also being stopped hard by Melmetal.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Faster threats**: While Mawile's Sucker Punch is incredibly strong after a Swords Dance, various threats are able to take the hit and KO Mawile back, including but not limited to, Landorus-T, Tapu Koko, Tyranitar packing Earthquake or Fire Punch, Garchomp and Greninja. Tapu Lele gets a special mention, as Psychic Terrain blocks Mawile from hitting it with Sucker Punch and can hit Mawile really hard with a Focus Blast.
**Physically defensive walls**: Mega Venusaur, Mega Scizor and Hippowdon are able to take its attacks after a Swords Dance and are capable of KOing it or heavily damaging it back. Other defensive answers include Iron Defense Skarmory or Corviknight, who are able to take on its attacks and KO back with Body Press. All of Mega Scizor, Corviknight and Skarmory must be wary of Fire Fang, Thunder Punch or Focus Punch, respectively.
**Bulky Steel Types** Melmetal is unable to be OHKOed by the Swords Dance set and is able to KO Mawile in return, with it only really fearing a Focus Punch on the switch. Magnezone does need to watch out for super-effective coverage on the switch, but can potentially take a boosted Sucker Punch and remove Mawile from play with Magnet Pull. Heatran is also able to switch in on Play Rough and stomachs a +2 Sucker Punch at sufficient enough health.
**Bulky Ground Types** Gliscor and defensive Landorus-T sets are able to switch into Mawile safely and smack it with an Earthquake or chip it down with Rocky Helmet. However, Gliscor has to be wary of Knock Off before Poison Heal activates, and both need to scout for Ice Punch on a 4 Attack set. Garchomp is also bulky enough to take a +2 Sucker Punch from max HP and threatens an OHKO with Earthquake.
