Magic Guard (Primarina) @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draining Kiss
- Surf
- Calm Mind
- Psychic Noise

[SET COMMENTS]
Primarina leverages its great defensive typing, high Special Attack, and the incredible utility of Magic Guard to be a highly effective Calm Mind sweeper. Draining Kiss gives Primarina immense staying power, recovering massive amounts of HP while still being deceptively powerful after a Calm Mind boost, cleanly 2HKOing Zamazenta and Deoxys-S despite its low base power. Psychic Noise, on top of hitting Pecharunt and Desolate Land Iron Moth super effectively, allows Primarina to set up against and 1v1 foes like Empoleon and Blissey, denying them of crucial recovery while it sets up with Calm Mind. Magic Guard allows Primarina to ignore passive damage from hazards and status as well as from its own Life Orb, giving it incredible defensive utility while still threatening to sweep on a dime. Maximum investment in physical bulk allows Primarina to check powerful threats like Roaring Moon, Great Tusk, and Zamazenta, potentially using them as setup fodder. Electric types, namely Zapdos, Hisuian Electrode and Thundurus, are the greatest threat to Primarina, mandating teammates like Swampert, Heatran, and Roaring Moon who can check these threats. Desolate Land users like Iron Moth and Heatran also pose a threat, making teammates like Well-Baked Body Gholdengo or Primordial Sea users like Ogerpon-W and Barraskewda fantastic options. Primarina synergizes well with powerful wallbreakers like Deoxys-S and Gholdengo, weakening checks like Scream Tail and Mandibuzz by denying them recovery with Psychic Noise, ensuring that its teammates can break through later in the game.

Maximum investment in physical bulk allows Primarina to check powerful threats like Roaring Moon, Great Tusk Chien-Pao, and Zamazenta, tusk is a bit of a stretch since 252 atk headlong rush has a pretty good chance of ohkoing potentially using them as setup fodder. Electric types, namely Zapdos, Hisuian Electrode and Thundurus Sandy Shocks more relevant, are the greatest threat to Primarina, mandating teammates like Swampert, Heatran, and Roaring Moon who can check these threats. Desolate Land users like Iron Moth,(AC) Ceruledge, and Heatran also pose a threat, making teammates like Well-Baked Body Gholdengo or Primordial Sea users like Ogerpon-W and Barraskewda fantastic options personally idk if barra is worth mentioning, you could replace it with like zap, up to you. Primarina synergizes well with powerful wallbreakers like Deoxys-S and Gholdengo, weakening checks like Scream Tail and Mandibuzz Heatran and Empoleon by denying them recovery with Psychic Noise, ensuring that its teammates can break through later in the game.
