Hobbies Media Recommendation Thread

I didn't saw this before (at least not as a general media recommendation thread) and honestly i thought that it could be fun to make a thread where we can recommend media to eachother

Videogames: I have a lot of things to say here. Metal Gear is my favorite game saga of all the time, incredible stories, detail attention and very good gameplay actually. I also like a lot a game called Signalis, a survival horror inspired on the PS1 Classics like Resident Evil (which speaking of, RE4 is always a good choice and i also recommend it) and Silent Hill. Really terrific, very satisfying puzzles and there are a lot of incredible philosophical moments.

I also love puzzle games like Void Stranger, a game of sokoban puzzles, like the pokemon rocks puzzles, and with very interesting lore, or Baba is You, a really unique game where you solve puzzles by changing the rules of the game. This is hard to understand in an abstract, but when you see a video of the game you understand it perfectly. I should also mention Portal 1 and 2, but i won't go over these games because they are extremely known

I've also enjoyed some story-driven narrative games like The Walking Dead season 1, Life is Strange 1 (
Sorry Kate i couldn't save you
), and two unique visual novels called Milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk and Milk outside a bag of milk outside a bag of milk, that are games about a schizofrenic girl, the first going to buy milk to a market and the second returning to home.

Movies: The Star Wars original trilogy is always a good one to watch. Unglorious Bastards is incredible and the end is amazing, definitively reccomended.

A indie movie that i really enjoyed is Mommy, which is a canadian movie spoken in french that goes about a TDAH boy and it's mother passing very difficult situations. The movie has a lot of fun moments that they suddenly turn into tense and violent moments, and it's really sad at times. Recommended for those who enjoy long movies

And also Shrek 2, the best of the trilogy and no one can argue that

Anime: i don't see a lot of anime, in fact, i have pending Evangelion, but i really like the Studio Ghibli movies like Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro and specially Grave of the Fireflies. I also really enjoyed Your Name and A Silent Voice, the latter one being especially tragic

Books: I really like Lovecraft horror, and horror books in general. I recommend At The Mountains of Madness, which goes about a group of scientists exploring the Antartica when during an Expedition they discovered new species in a mountain, and suddenly they were killed by that species, and the protagonist has to go to the mountains to find what happened because the communication was cut.

I also recommend The King in Yellow, which are 5 stories linked by the fact that their protagonists have readed a book called The King in Yellow, that was censored by all the world and they have regreted of reading the second chapter. The interesting part about this is how reading the book had affected it's psyche and the situations they face off.

I'm also very fond of dystopical stories and i really enjoyed 1984 and Fahrenheit 451.

Music: i don't hear a lot of music, but there is a really cool rock band of my country called Estelares that i think that it makes really beautiful music
