Non-Pokébank OU Mega-Aero: From UU to OU

Marigold

formerly KuraiTenshi26
Hello, smogon! As a player re-entering competitive pokemon after a long time (and I mean a loooong time, last gen I played competitively and did decently well in was gen 1), I've decided to build a team around one of my favourites, Aerodactyl-Mega. I'm looking to improve this team further and would really appreciate advice ^^ Without further ado, here it is~

---
Lycanroc | Magnezone | Tsareena | Azumarill | Salazzle | Aerodactyl
---

Lycanroc @ Focus Sash
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Accelerock
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt

The lead. It's disappointing that Garchomp cannot currently learn SR, because it would probably be here otherwise. Regrets aside... SR is key to the team's success by whittling down the enemy and taunt to shut down set-up of any kind. Accelerock is a great priority attack to take some hp before dying, or to reserve lycanroc against the likes of fire types, pinsir, etc that may cause problems later in the match. Stone edge is a great STAB that, with a base 115 attack and a little bit of luck, and punch some holes for allies to capitalize on.

***concerns for post-bank transition: azelf can use its taunt backed by base 115 speed to nullify my poor doggo (base 112 speed) from throwing my precious rocks. What can I do to get around this?

Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 124 HP / 252 SpA / 132 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Flash Cannon

Also known as sayonara, celesteela/toxapex/skarmory/anything that will give Mega Aero trouble. This is a pretty standard zone, with modest nature, 252 SpA evs, and choice specs to make sure what must die is dead (or close enough to dying to something else). The 132 Spe is to outspeed 4 Spe Mega Scizor, and the rest goes to HP for bulk.

Tsareena @ Assault Vest
Ability: Queenly Majesty
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Trop Kick
- High Jump Kick
- Play Rough

A surprisingly bulky (and gen 7 favourite~) mon. The main role of the queen is to spin away the rocks that would hurt my dear salazzle and mega-aero, as well as tell some particular watery annoyances in the future (I'm looking at you, rotom-wash and keldeo) to screw off. A Trop Kick or two on the switch makes the otherwise mediocre physical bulk great, and Vest covers the special bulk. High jump kick and Play rough make for excellent coverage options. The ev's are pretty simple, max HP for even more bulk and max attack to utilize a great 120 base attack and make some holes for aero to capitalize on.

Azumarill @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 92 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Play Rough
- Superpower

One of the strongest fairies known to poke-kind, azu is great at demolishing the bulky ground types that would otherwise check aero. Band was chosen for immediate (and destructive, oh my...) damage to OHKO something, or heavily pressure switch-ins. Aqua jet is a powerful priority move that can allow azu to hit things that have boosted their speed or are simply faster, waterfall hits like a truck, play rough and superpower for coverage. Nature and evs were intended to maximize BOOM power, speed evs outspeed minimum speed TTar, and almost the rest go into HP (results in 381 hp, a golden SR number).

Salazzle @ Air Balloon
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 1 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 SpD
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Dragon Pulse / Nasty Plot

Salazzle is here to soften up or outright kill Tapu's, and otherwise provide some nice coverage. Fire blast and sludge bomb make for amazing STABs, and hp ground to hit common switch-in's like toxapex and (in the inevitable future) heatran for surprising amounts of damage. Currently unsure about dragon pulse for dragon coverage, or NP for crazy boosts. Insight would be greatly appreciated.

Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Aerial Ace
- Earthquake
- Iron Head

The star of the show. Speed is maximized to fully take advantage of a 438 Spe stat and outspeed almost everything in OU, and attack is maximized to clean up the mess of the enemy team after the onslaught of five other hard-hitting teammates. Stone Edge and Aerial Ace are great STABs (the latter of which is boosted by tough claws), EQ provides some hard-hitting coverage, and iron head is for the fairies that fill the gen 7 metagame as of now.

And that's the whole team as of now! Currently at 1303 on the ladder atm, lemme know how to make this team better.

Until next time~ (^^)/
