ORAS OU Mega Altaria Team. Plz Rate!

Hello Everyone! I'm Ari and this is my second team post. My old 1 was a mega metagross team. It got me to around 1400 but then it just couden't get me pass that. Mega Metagross is still one of my favpokemon but Ive always liked Mega Altaria more but My brother was using him and didnt want me to use him since we battled alot and he didnt want us npth to have same mons so i kinda agreed with this so i went along but then He switched up his team and i helped him build a new one with zard X. So I used mega altaria and he finally got me to that mark where the mega metagross team could not take me! I am very happy with this team. The only pokemon i think that could possibly need switching is keldeo. OPEN TO ALL SUGGESTIONS!!

Fluficans (Altaria) (F) @ Altarianite
Ability: Natural Cure

I thought I would never get to use the dragon altaria because of his bad typing and stats but when his mega came out i new i would try him someday. I considered changing the EVs for Extra bulk. But i want to tie with other base 80s b4 the boost. Mega Altaria is the best dragon dance sweeper in the game. So of course I would run dragon dance. Return is super strong stab that can KO most things that dont resist it. Earthquake is for coverage against steels like heatran and magnezone. Roost is to keep mega altaria fpr a long as possible. I have natural cure before mega incase i get burned or something the switch in.

Magnet BEAST (Magnezone) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD

Magnezone has always been a great pokemon to me and with magnet pull he is great. Trap steel typs and then KO or 2KO them. Which clears the way for mega altaria. I run specs to hit as hard as possible. With max HP investment to live lots of stuff. A plus 2 sucker punch from bisharp. I have Volt switch to get team mates in safely. flash cannon to hit fairy types really hard. Thunderbolt hits those pesky water types. Hidden power Fire is to hit the steel type i trap.


Mud Wing (Swampert) (F) @ chesto berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 128 Def / 4 SpA / 128 SpD

Swampert has always been my favorute starter! Now that I can use him competitivly Im so happy. His move pool is great and i decided on a special set because of scald and mirror coat. Rest is for to keep him as healthy as possible. Scald is the most broken move in the game with that chance to cripple a physical attacker. I also needed soemone who could switch into any of mega manetrics moves. earth Power is for stab and can 2 KO mega manetric i think. The EVs are to maximize his defensive capabilities. Modest nature to up his decent special attack.


Eon Beast (Latios) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Now one of my favorite pokemon latios. I was disapointted when i had to get latias instead of latios in the game because i got alpha saphire but i get to finally use him. I run the standard Latios EV spread. He provides defpg support for alot of my pokemon and memento support giving Mega altaria and talonflame a chance to setup then sweep.I run Draco Meteor to anoutsolutely nuke every pokemon that comes in my way. Psyshock is much better than psychic to hit specialy defensive fairies like slyveon.

The Great Chandelure is here. It Might say chandelure is D rank on the viability list but us players with common since know that he is amazing. No offense to anyone. Chandelure hits almost as hard as Hoopa unbound with overheat and with his amazing typing and special attack. The main reason im using him is memento support. Whats amazing is that he ussually always gets the memento off and he is not dead weight for the team. He also his a pretty good late game cleaner when i dont need memento. Overheat is to strau=ight up nuke stuff and shadow ball is powerful stab and energy ball for coverage. I might change energy ball for trick tho.

Mrr. Brave Bird (Talonflame) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Gale Wings
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Swords Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Roost

Now Talonflame. The only pokemon i wont build a team without. Im running bulky swords dance but im runnuing flare blits over wil o wisp because i still want tp hit those steel types. I run brave bird for priority and very powerful stab. Flare blitz is powerful stab to hit steel types. Roost is to keep talonflame really healthy and Swords dance to boost my attack to insane levels! Adamant nature with max investment inattack to hit as hard as possible and 248 in HP to take attacks better

Hey man cool team and welcome to smogon! I think I got a few suggestions to help you out a little. First I would change the magnezone spread to 252spatk/252spe/4spdef timid nature and change the item to choice scarf. This new set allows mag to hit just under base 115 speed which allows it to check a few important targets one being a weakened Mgross which really threatens you. Your old spread was not too efficient as all of the targets of zone ,bar ferrothorn, can all outspeed and kill zone at this speed tier. For example Mzor can easily sd up on your switch to zone and remove it from the game with a +2 superpower or even two knock offs.

The next change I recommend is changing swampert to fat chomp. This swampert set does not accomplish too much for the team especially considering you lack stealth rock which is an extremely important tool to use in the meta at the moment. Fat chomp helps patch up some holes that the team currently has such as Mgross, loppuny, bisharp, talonflame, and a ton of other physical attackers as well with it's ability to dish out 1/4 of the opponents hp upon making contact with chomp. This also gives the invaluable weapon that is stealth rock to help out in your games. Fire blast was selected in the 4th slot to aid in the removal of steels for altaria.

I'd also change chandelure to weavile. This forms the infamous alt+mag+weav core which decimates a large portion of the meta and is also one of the most effective cores in the current meta. Weavile provides that speed control with it's high base speed and powerful priority which allows it to dominate faster teams which reside in the meta currently. The move in the 4th slot that I would recommend would be pursuit to punish gengar and hoop-u which your team is very weak to.

The last big change I would recommend would be to change talonflame to subcm keldeo. Although this makes Mvenu a bit annoying to handle I feel that it's totally worth it bc the one big flaw with the team is that it gets absolutely demolished by weavile. The only way to even check it on this team at the moment is to either let talon or mag eat a hit and retaliate or win a speed tie with your own weavile. Subcm keld gives the team a stallbreaker along with a water type to make handling heatran and bulky grounds a bit better than before and the added bonus of removing some of the pressure on fat chomp to check bisharp. More importantly keldeo checks weavile very well. Specs can be used but you are going to be taking knock offs frequently so I wouldn't recommend it but it definitely can be used.

A small change I'd recommend is changing memento to roost on latios. I see the perks of memento but altaria has such good bulk and typing that it finds so many set up opportunities already that memento is kind of a wasted slot. Roost gives latios some much needed longevity to check keldeo throughout the game which is important considering alt is your only other check and your win con getting burnt is never good. The longevity also allows latios to provide defog support longer which can allow you to win the hazard war more easily.

Do u think the team would function alright while keeping talon flame in? I'm gonna use all ur suggestions except I'm not really sure on tacking out talonflame.

Wait a minute.putting in Garchomp and weavile and keldeo give me 3 more fairie weaknesses
