ORAS OU Mega Bunny Balance/Offense

Lopunny's Wrath

Whats good frenz. Made a team around Mega Lopunny. Thought the team was pretty solid, so I wanted to hear what yall thought of it.

<<Team Building Process>>
428-m.png
Started the team with Fake Out Jolly Mega Lopunny. Great anti lead and mega pokemon in general. With its unbreakable STAB coverage, Mega lopunny is a huge threat to any team without dedicated physical walls like Hippo or Skarm.
428-m.png 243.png
With Mega Lopunny, I first thought "What stops Mega Lopunny from crushing souls?". First thing that came to mind were defensive Lando, Gliscor, Skarm, Slowbro, Gyarados, every other bulky water type, etc. Before the Greninja ban, of course I would've chosen Greninja, but with Smogon frog gone, I was torn between Raikou and Thundurus. I decided to choose Raikou over Thundurus because the Scarf Raikou set is IMO far superior to standard T Wave Thundurus in the current meta in terms of wall breaking.
428-m.png 243.png 625.png
I had a huge fuking problem with the Lati twins and Megagross now. With Greninja, these three pokemon would be easily taken care of but once again, ban hammer lol. I decided to go with AV offensive Bisharp because I wanted a reliable switch in to LO Latios' Draco while still beating it 1v1. Bisharp also hits Megagross hard enough w/ Sucker Punch to the point where Lopunny's return or Raikou's Thunderbolt can easily take it out.
428-m.png 243.png 625.png 479-w.png
With my offensive core taken care of looking solid af, I needed a birdspam check and a switch in for Scarf Lando. I decided washer machine was a fantastic choice in this team as it provides slow Volt Switches into my frailer offensive pokemon while also burning shit and beating bulky ground types. This pokemon also beats Rushdrill so offensive Sand is a much smaller problem now. The Lati's were no problem as Bisharp's AV lets it switch into 2 Draco's from any form of Lati.
428-m.png 243.png 625.png 479-w.png 645-s.png
Now I needed a check to fighting types and a SRer. I decided to use another OU favorite, Lando-T because it sets rocks, checks fighting types and also provides a slow U-turn forming that infamous Rotom-Lando Volt Turn core. I went with the defensive set for obvious reasons and is also my back up check to birdspam. This pokemon also stops Mold Breaker Excadrill flat, leaving more leeway for Bisharp and Raikou.
428-m.png 243.png 625.png 479-w.png 645-s.png 380.png
Now I needed a defogger because outside of Bisharp, my offensive core completely gets decimated by offensive sticky web teams. I also needed an offensive check to Conk and Mega Venusaur. I decided on sister Latias over brother Latios because Healing Wish is such a good move on Balanced teams. It also hits Rotom-w hard enough to the point where Rotom faints or Raikou or Lopunny can beat it. It is also another EQ spam check along with Rotom-w and Lando-T

<<The Team>>

mega_lopunny_by_red_anteater-d7ubxt3.png

Lopunny-Mega @ Lopunnite
Ability: Limber
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- Ice Punch
- Return
- High Jump Kick
Description: Mega Lopunny is so stronk. With the right moves and right team support, Bunny absolutely destroys Balanced and Offense easily. With its access to STAB Scrappy fake out, Lopunny has no issues of beating Pokes that can take a hit or two thanks to the chip damage from Fake Out and Stealth Rocks. This Poke is my physical wallbreaker and my late game sweeper.

Raikou_Sprite_by_Flash__the__Hedgehog.png

Raikou @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch
- Shadow Ball
Description: Raikou is my way of beating/weakening Gliscor and Lando along with Vaporeon, Slowbro, Alomomola, Azumarill, weakened Megagross, Scarf Keldeo, Scarf Garchomp, non Scaled Dnite, Gyarados, Mega Gyarados, Skarm, Talonflame, etc. Raikou basically beats almost every Pokemon that Lopunny cannot beat 1v1. With a Scarf slapped onto it, Raikou is a huge offensive threat that can easily sweep teams with Thunderbolt late game. The only issue with this Pokemon is that it has no reliable way of killing Bulky Ground types like Hippowdon as shown in the replay. Other than that, Raikou is a great Pokemon.

Bisharp.full.1416575.jpg

Bisharp @ Assault Vest
Ability: Defiant
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Pursuit
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
Description: Bisharp destroys the Latis and Fairy types, both the types of Pokemon that Raikou and Lopunny hate. With its strong stab sucker punch, Bisharp is easily able to deal with many weakened offensive threats that would other threaten Lopunny or Raikou. I am running the Knock Off/Pursuit/Sucker Punch offensive movepool so that I can easily pressure switch decisions from my opponents.

Rotom-W.png

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Pain Split
Description: Rotom-W on the team for obvious reasons that have been stated in every single RMT with Rotom in it. Slow Volt Switch, STAB Hydro Pump, Will-O-Wisp, steals HP from bulky walls with Pain Split, Bird check, Lando check, etc. etc. etc. Rotom-W works wonders on this team because my offensive core is weak to everything that Rotom-w can wall for days.

therian_form_landorus_by_namh-d5dc0ik.jpg

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 8 SpD / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
Description: Landorus has the right EV spread to not get OHKO'd by Mega Man's HP Ice while also outspeeding Modest Specs Magnezone. Overall great Pokemon both offensively and defensively, completely countering Pokemon like Excadrill, non Ice Beam ttar, etc. Also, Lando provides slow U-turns so that my frailer offensive Pokemon can get free switches, which is always a good thing.

latias.jpg

Latias (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Draco Meteor
- Defog
- Healing Wish
Description: Latias is a great offensive utility Poke as it can beat many physical walls like Weezing, Rotom-w, etc. with its STAB coverage. It also beats slower Fighting types like Conk, Toxicroak, Heracross, Breloom, Terrarkion, Keldeo, Etc. Most importantly however, Latias completely walls Char-Y, a huge threat to this team's defensive core. With its walling capabilities and offensive presence, Latias is a great addition to this team with its Defog and Healing Wish support.

Hi Rogernadal,

This is a pretty solid offensive team here. Scarf Raikou + Landorus-T + Latias forms a pretty solid core that can check most of the threats in the metagame.

On Latias, I think you should try using Roost over Defog. None of your Pokemon are weak to Stealth Rocks, while Roost gives Latias extra longevity that can be useful in checking Keldeo and Zard-Y. Although Healing Wish + Roost seems kind of weird, it is definitely usable.

I think the largest threat to your team are fairy-types such as Sylveon, Mega-Gardevoir, and Mega-Altaria. None of your Pokemon resist fairy-type attacks and two of them are weak two fairy-type attacks (Latias and Mega-Lopunny). This means that once Gardevoir (or another offensive Fairy-type) switches, in, they will be free to spam their fairy-type attacks. Mega-Altaria in particular can set-up with Dragon Dance and then proceed to sweep you team.

In addition, I think your team would benefit from a set-up sweeper. While Lopunny and Bisharp provide significant offensive pressure, you may find it hard to break through physical walls like Hippodown, Alomomola, and Skarmory. Having a set-up sweeper gives you an additional win condition in case the team match-up is unfavorable to Lopunny.

With this in mind, I think you should consider running a Scarf Heatran with Overheat, Flash Cannon, Ancient Power, and Earth Power over Bisharp. Scarf Heatran is a good check to fairy-types such as Sylveon and Mega-Gardevoir as it can hit them super-effectively with Flash Cannon. In addition, Heatran can serve as an additional Mega-Metagross check, being able to KO Mega-Metagross with a super-effective Overheat. Ancient Power allows Heatran to check flying spam, and Earth Power gives Heatran coverage against opposing Heatran.

With Heatran running a Scarf set, I think you can change Raikou to Thunderus with Nasty Plot, Thunderus Although Thunderus lacks the speed of Raikou, Thunderus has greater special attacker, a ground-type immunity/fighting-type resistance, and Prankster Thunder Wave. With Nasty Plot, Thunderus can also function as a set-up sweeper, plowing through physical walls much more easily than Raikou. Even without a boost, Thunderus is noticably stronger than Raikou. For example, Raikou only has a 50% chance to KO Garchomp with HP Ice, while Thunderus has an improved 87.5% to KO Garchomp (Thunderus will always KO with Life Orb). In addition, Prankster Thunder Wave can paralyze potential set-up sweepers, giving you a back-up plan to cripple set-up sweepers than Heatran might not be able to revenge. For Thunderus's item, I prefer Leftovers for longevity, but Life Orb can also be used for the extra power.

Calcs:
252 SpA Thundurus Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Garchomp: 328-388 (91.8 - 108.6%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Life Orb Thundurus Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Garchomp: 426-504 (119.3 - 141.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Raikou Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Garchomp: 308-364 (86.2 - 101.9%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Finally, I think you should change Rotom-W to Ferrothorn with Leech Seed, Gyro Ball, Power Whip, and Thunder Wave. Without Bisharp, your team is much weaker to Latios and Latias. With combined with the other changes, Azumarill and Keldeo become much larger threats. Ferrothorn is a good check to all of these Pokemon and can also provide valuable team support in Leech Seed and Thunder Wave. Thunder Wave in particular is very important because it prevents Ferrothorn from becoming set-up fodder. Gyro Ball allows Ferrothorn to check Fairy-types and faster Pokemon, while Power Whip allows Ferrothorn to hit Azumarill and Keldeo for super-effective damage.

Hope this helps!
