Overview of the Team
006-y.png

Igneel (Charizard-Mega-Y) (M) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Air Slash
- Solar Beam
- Roost/Focus Blast

When i made this team I remembered using a Zard-Y and Garchomp Core in a old team i did and decided to make it. Fire Blast was over Flamethrower because of power while giving up that crucial accuracy. Solar Beam and Air Slash are mandatory for Zard-Y. Roost is for longevity while Focus Blast is for Heatran and Rock-Types. In my opinion I prefer Roost because Garchomp already takes care of Heatran.

Sharkeisha (Garchomp) (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw/Outrage
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang/Poison Jab
- Stone Edge

The second star of the team is pretty much the revenge killer of the team. Dragon Claw is weaker than Outrage but Outrage will cause you 2-3 turns of gambling as you are forced to attack the opponent then suffer confusion. Earthquake is for Heatran, Rock-Types and Electric Types that Zard-Y cant take care off. I decided to use Poison Jab and Fire fang while alternating between the moves in between battles. Fire Fang is sun boosted whiel having the chance to flinch and burn but Poison Jab destroys Fairy Types which I don't have anything to take care of. Stone Edge is a hard hitting move for the common flying type "cough" Talonflame "cough".

OG Pokemon (Mew) @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Defog
- Roost
- Thunder Wave
- Psychic

I decided to start this team with someone to get rid of stealth rocks which can cause a problem for Zard-Y. Roost is self-explanatory. While battling i noticed many Pokemon with 350 speed that take down Zard-Y so thunder wave will be able to neutralize those threats. Psychic is just there as my only offense move in case I predict a taunt coming.

243.png

300 Watts (Raikou) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Shadow Ball

The scout of the team allows me to easily switch out without a pain with volt switch. Thunderbolt is reliable STAB move and hp ice is for ground types. Shadow Ball is there since Raikou doesn't have that diverse of a movepool. With Assault Vest he is able to eat up any special hits like thunder and thunderbolts. Azumarill's Aqua Jet does more than 50% to Zard-Y in the sun if banded so Raikou can always switch in to take them down.

652.png

Lumberjack (Chesnaught) (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Spikes
- Drain Punch
- Spiky Shield

My main man for setting up entry hazards, leech seed and tanking physical blows. While Battling with this team i noticed a of pokemon that with sucker punch which Zard-Y cant stand if it happens to come in with stealth rock up. Spiky Shield and Leech seed are usually way to slowly dwindle someones health and if he gets KO'ed then i can send Garchomp to revenge kill. Drain Punch works well with Leech Seed to gain HP while dealing damage.

576.png

Thirst Trap (Gothitelle) (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Psychic
- Trick
- Toxic
- Calm Mind

As the names says the final member of my team is a trapper. When a Chansey enters which walls all of my team comes in to a trick, its pretty much useless if its only useing soft-boiled or aromatherapy.
While the opponent is left frustrated, I set up a few calm minds while poisoning the chansey and let loose with psychic then the next pokemon to come in has to deal with a 2x SpA and SpD Gothitelle.

Threatlist
625.png
Once Chesnaught is out and this thing has set up one sword dance, its GG.
036.png
I have no way get this thing out after it has used calm mind or cosmic power.
282.png
Whether its normal or mega, once it takes down Zard-Y with t-bolt, Garchomp and Chesnaught there is no hope.
485.png
If you dont have Focus Blast on Zard-Y and Garchomp is out of the pic, then you can only rely on Chesnaught but Lava Plume will burn him to crisp.
094.png
While Testing this team out i noticed that focus sash gengars can be a problem if Raikou is at least left with half HP.
151.png
If its specially defense then Raikou will have some trouble taking it down.
302.png
Its Mega is broken and a Max Damage Fire Blast possiblt crit sun boosted from Zard-Y is your only hope.
003.png
Not really a threat but could pose a problem as a late game tank.

And with that I ask you to rate away people of Smogon!

Air Slash is pretty bad on Zard Y, as even its coverage moves outdamage it. It's too slow to make good use of the flinch rate, so your best bet is to run Fire Blast, Solar Beam, Focus Blast and Roost on it. Other than that, Terion's AV Raikou spread is better. Not much else I can add, overall not a bad team at all.

That's a unique team you got there bro, but there are a few things you could do to improve it ...

First off, Air Slash is unviable on Mega Charizard Y, everything that it hits neutrally or even Super effectively is covered by either Fire Blast or Solar Beam (For example, Fire Blast does more to Latios than Air Slash). So replacing it with Focus Blast or Earthquake would be much better and will help you get around common counters to Mega Charizard Y. Focus Blast 2HKOs Heatran and OHKOs Tyranitar; however, since most Tyranitars are Choice Scarf, only use it when predicting on the switch, and you need to be careful against Heatran as the accuracy is rather unreliable. Earthquake, on the other hand, 2HKOs Heatran, is very reliable, but does nothing outside of that really, it can 3HKO Tyranitar but that would take multiple of predictions on Tyranitar switches (If Sun is up vs. T-tar, always go for Solar Beam)

Secondly, Choice Scarf Garchomp is not as good as it used to be, with Greninja gone and with the abundance of Scarf Landorus-T and other stuff like Rotom-W, Ferrothorn, and Skarmory, a Focus Sash set is much preferred. Furthermore, both Poison Jab and Stone Edge are not good choice on Chomp either, the former fails to 2HKO Clefable and the latter does really nothing. I recommend using a Focus Sash with Stealth Rock / Earthquake / Outrage | Dragon Claw / Swords Dance | Fire Blast.

Mew, is a fantastic Pokemon, but its EVs and moveset could use come tweaks. Considering your team, its rather fast and would not need the support of Thunder Wave. I recommend Will-o-Wisp instead, which can cripple Pokemon like Bisharp, Mega Metagross, (Mega) Scizor, Garchomp, and so on. On other hand, Psychic is a good move to hit Rotom-W hard, but either Knock Off or Psyshock are preferred. The former is a fantastic move that cripple most Pokemon, especially Pokemon like Chansey who are extremely dependant on its item, while the former helps in checking stuff like SubCM Keldeo. As for the EVs, 160 Spe EVs are recommended to outspeed Adamant max speed Excadrill, Jolly Bisharps, and Jolly Brelooms, while a SpD investment will help you against threats that your team struggles with, such as Mega Gardevoir and Thundurus. So 248 HP / 100 SpD / 160 Spe with a Calm Nature is your optimal spread.

Considering your team, Lati@s are problems that can easily pose a problem to this team. Roost/Recover variants can easily sweep your team once you Mew is weakened (Another reason SpD mew is better). And Chesnaught just mitigates that weakness, and in fact is a free switch to Lati@s and would Defog your hazards no problem. As such, I recommend using Klefki as a replacement to Chesnaught, which does not only counters that Lati@s, but can Paralyze them, and can set up hazards. It can also set-up on Mega Sableye thanks to Dazzling Gleam, or can Toxic Pokemon immune to Thunder Wave, such as Landorus-T.

Gothitelle is a smart addition to your team, being able to handle Chansey and stall really is a fantastic niche to this team. However, I don't think your set as a whole is efficient at doing its job. For example, it is 3HKO'd by Seismic Toss, and can really do nothing to status and has no longevity. While is rather is inconsistent in doing its job as a Choice Scarf user. First, a Choice Specs set is always superior to the Choice Scarf set, since Choice Scarf is sometimes beneficial to your opponent, and is unreliable as a Scarf user. Instead, Choice Specs has a lot of power and can manage itself against HO and Balanced archetypes. So, using a set of 80 HP / 100 Def / 252 SpA / 76 Spe with a Modest Nature and Chocie Specs is probably your most optimal choice. 76 Spe outspeeds most things speed creeing Skarmory (like Azumarill) while 80 HP survives 3 S-tosses. Psychic / Trick / Rest / Thunderbolt | Toxic.

Thx guys. The info really helped out. Terion your set for Raikou does help it still be fast with extra bulk. Kyuzeth and Professional2341 I didn't know that Air Slash wasn't used that much on Zard-Y. The Garchomp set I wasn't really sure about until I realized it does help set up stealth rocks and survive at least one ice shard from a mamoswine. The Mew set I also changed realizing yours was better. Klefki is a pokemon i hate to the core but I guess it would be better than chenaught since. Not only Latios but talonflame Bop him. The Gothithelle was one I realized after using the team a few times and that I had no form of recovery thx for the set suggestions and changes I hope they will help.
