Hey everyone. I'm here to present to you my ORAS Mega Gallde team. I've taken it for a spin and it has done very well. It has won 8/10 battles. I plan to use it more but I feel like it could use a bit more tweaking here and there. Anyways here it is.
Launcelot (Gallade) @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Zen Headbutt
- Knock Off
The team revolves around Mega Gallade, not Mega Gallade around the team. Swords Dance let's me set up and potentially sweep late game. Close Combat is for insane STAB, and Zen Headbutt is for Psychic STAB. Lastly, Knock Off is to hit Pokemon and make them lose their items upon switch in, like Landorus-T and Clefable. Gallade also let's me handle Pokemon like Chansey, who the rest of my team would otherwise not struggle against.
It's Mie (Starmie) @ Life Orb
Ability: Analytic
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rapid Spin
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock
Starmie is a very good Pokemon here. I wanted a Pokemon that could take care of TankChomp well, and Starmie can be a lead and OHKO Chomp with Ice Beam. Starmie also provided me with a very fast and strong hitting Sp. Attacker, which was very appreciated. Lastly, Starmie is also a great Spinner to get rid of hazards on my side, and a very good switch in to Heatran and Keldeo. I prefer Rapid Spin over Defog on one of my other 'mons since I have a lot of hazards in this team.
Nom Nom (Hippowdon) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Slack Off
- Earthquake
- Toxic
I felt like Hippowdon could be a great Pokemon for this team. It provides me with a good Stealth Rocker. It is also a great Ground type, providing me with a nice Earthquake STAB, which is never bad. It's also a complete stop to annoying Electric types, like Thundurus, Magnezone, Mega Manectric, Raikou, and Zapdos as well as other special attackers like Sp. Def Heatran. I went with a Sp. Def spread since I already have a great Defensive wall to be seen soon.
Fear (Bisharp) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Pursuit
Gallade and Bisharp are a great core (idk why I didn't pare them together ;-;). Bisharp takes care of Pokemon like bulky Fairies and Latis that Gallade wouldn't appreciate. It is also just a good and very strong physical attacker. It provides me great and strong priority with Sucker Punch, as well as a very, very strong Dark and valuable STAB in Knock-Off. Iron Head is for the Steel STAB and for Fairies, and Pursuit is to trap the Latis and any other Pokemon I'd like to trap and get rid of them. I went with Adamant to get the most out of Bisharp's power.
Starscream (Skarmory) (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Whirlwind
- Roost
- Iron Head
- Spikes
Skarmory was a great Pokemon to pick for this team. It is a very bulky Pokemon on the physically defensive side, and can wall many Pokemon. It lets me take care of Pokemon like Mega Lopunny, Weavile, and Landorus-T. It is just overall a great switching to mostly everything physically attacking. Whirlwind along with Sturdy allows me to stop sweeps, and Roost allows me to regain HP and continue to check the Physical Attacking Pokemon. Iron Head is great for good continual STAB that lets me handle Fairies well as well as Pokemon like Weavile better. Spikes let's me set up more hazards and pressure my opponent into Deffoging, only to afterwards be punished by Bisharp. The Rocky Helmet punishes Mega Lopunny's and Landorus's U-Turns, and Weavile's first Knock Off, as well as Scizor's BP and U-Turn.
Bubblegum (Clefable) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SpD
Bold Nature
- Moonblast
- Flamethrower
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder Wave
I decided to put Clefable in the team for numerous reasons. The previous version of this team only had one Special Attacker (Starmie), and so it struggled against a Donphan and a Doublade I found in the lower ladder. I forgot which Pokemon I had here before, but it doesn't matter because now I have Clefable! Clefable is a very solid Fairy type. It provides me good Fairy STAB, as well as a good Lati switch in. Flamethrower is for annoying Steel types that think they can switch into me, like Skarmory and most importantly Ferrothron which is a big threat, and deal a very big chunk to them. Soft-Boilded is for longevility, and last yellow magic (Thunder Wave) is to stop sweeps and slow down pretty much any Pokemon I get the chance to slow down. The EV spread also allows me to take less than 40% from Weavile's Icicle Crash, which is good. The rest went into Sp. Def for good mixed bulk.
That's the team. I appreciate pretty much any improvement that could be put in. Something I can see from right here is that Talonflame can be some trouble, which I might need to fix later. I feel like it's a good team, but it could definitely be improved. Thank you and have a good day :]
