Wassup guys! teamjolteon4ever here, with a team of my own invention: A balanced team with a slightly nonstandard mega-gallade, if mega-gallade can even be considered standard. I know Mega-gallade isn't the most viable pokemon in the current OU meta, but I really love its design and wanted to make a creative team around it. That being said, I am trying to make the most competitive team possible, so any feedback and advice you can give is greatly appreciated (please don't just tell me to use a different mega...). With that, lets begin!
Sharkbait (Garchomp) (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 240 HP / 176 Def / 92 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail
Garchomp is my hazard setter and phazer, being very bulky and able to damage foes without even attacking them. Stealth Rock damages foes every time they switch in, kinda self-explanatory. Every team needs rocks. Earthquake is Garchomp's main STAB move because it gets good neutral coverage and hits decently hard. Dragon Tail phazes foes and racks up entry hazard damage. Toxic cripples the common bulky Water-, Grass-, and Ground-types that like to switch into Garchomp. This set aims to get hazards up and get as much chip damage as possible while dragon tailing opponents out to take extra stealth rock damage, as well as punishing physical attackers for 30% of their HP every time they touch this thing. The Evs maximize physical bulk while outspeeding jolly bisharp and tyranitar.
Thor (Zapdos) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 176 Def / 68 SpA / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Heat Wave
- Defog
- Roost
Zapdos is my defogger, being able to clear hazards away and keep itself healthy via good bulk, leftovers, and roost. Thunderbolt packs respectable power thanks to its good special attack, and heat wave is used for all the scizor and ferrothorn in the world who want to take advantage of the thunder bird. The EVs and Bold nature are designed to maximize Zapdos's physical bulk while outspeeding Adamant Bisharp, and also taking less from stealth rock. The special attack evs are to guarantee the OHKO on mega pinsir.
Blue (Rotom-Wash) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
Very standard rotom-w spread here, nothing special. Hydro pump for STAB, volt switch for momentum, pain split for unreliable recovery. My main move to spam is will-o-wisp, as I really love crippling things and watching them slowly die. Wow, that sounds bad outside of pokemon. Anyway, I mainly use this thing as a bulky pivot, tanking a hit so that someone else can get in safely, or a status inducer. The evs minimize rock damage and maximize physical bulk. I decided not to invest the 44 speed evs to outrun jolly azumarill, because let's face it, 90% of azumarill are adamant anyway.
Delphi (Talonflame) (F) @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Roost
Why is this sprite so big??? Maybe it just looks that way to me. standard smogon bird here acts as a fast pivot and a revenge killer, as will as basically my only switch in to mega charizard y. Dual STAB grants it the ability to finish off a wider variety of pokemon, though most of the time I'm just clicking brave bird. Sharp beak > life orb as the double recoil adds up very quickly and I usually have no trouble doing 50% to things that don't resist flying, regardless of an item. EVs are standard, and I went adamant because I'm mainly using priority, and imo talonflame needs all the attack it can get.
Elizabeth (Sylveon) (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pixilate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 240 HP / 252 SpA / 16 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Shadow Ball
- Baton Pass
My dedicated special wallbreaker. Hyper voice just does disgusting damage to anything that doesn't resist it. Two coverage moves for predicting the switch, because if you can't use hyper voice for some reason, you shouldn't usually be staying in with sylveon. The last move has actually saved my ass on multiple occasions. Go in on a dragon type, baton pass as they switch out, and bam! Free momentum. EVs/nature/item maximize wallbreaking potential, while giving sylveon decent mixed bulk. If you need holes the size of the grand canyon torn into a kyurem-black, who ya gonna call? Damn straight, you're gonna call sylveon.
James (Gallade-Mega) @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Drain Punch
- Psycho Cut
- Leaf Blade
Hmm, that's weird. He mentioned a nonstandard mega-gallade before, I'm not sure how- *spits out water* - LEAF BLADE?? That's right, folks! Your standard dancing-physicall-sweeping-friendly-neighborhood-gallade is here, with my person favorite coverage move. We don't fear ground types too much, thanks to rotom-w, so ice punch didn't feel necessary. Shadow sneak is so goddamn weak, and gallade is pretty fast already. So what do we struggle with on this time? Rotom w, suicune, mega-slowbro, etc. It's not STAB, but after a swords dance, this mega gallade can do MASSIVE damage to any of the aforementioned threats, especially when they predict you switching out and go for a calm mind or something instead of attacking. lol. besides that, drain punch and psycho cut are two solid STAB attacks that have perfect accuracy and no drawbacks, that when coupled with swords dance, give me enough awesome power that I don't have to use close combat or zen headbutt.
So yeah, that's my team. Please test it out, the importable team is below. I could really use some suggestions here, as well as alternate EV spreads for battling at level 50 (I plan to use this on wifi). Any and all help is appreciated. Have a nice day!
My original inspiration from this team was Wally's ORAS team in the battle maison, featuring, obviously, mega-gallade. disregarding the sets, his team looks like this:

Wow...for an in-game character, actually decently competitive. I decided I'd start with his team and make it more viable for OU. I ended up only using half the original members, but it's a competitive ladder so hey.
My first step was to get rid of roserade, which imo is not viable for OU. I decided that I wanted to keep talonflame, so I needed hazard remover. Cue my favorite defogger, zapdos. I know he compounds a rock weakness with talonflame, but most of the rest of my team resists rocks anyway.

With talonflame and zapdos (heat wave/resist steel), I decided that steel types weren't enough of a problem as to require using magnezone to remove them. So away with him! I noticed that we lacked a special attacker besides zapdos, who is mostly defensive anyway. I wanted a dedicated special wallbreaker that wasn't a mega, so I finally settled on sylveon. Now, sylveon is commonly disregarded as an inferior wallbreaker fairy wallbreaker to mega-gardevoir, and an inferior fairy support pokemon to clefable. I, however, have witnessed sylveon excel at both roles, and therefore decided to let her join the crew.

Lastly, I wanted a different water-type pokemon, since azumarill didn't really fit on my team at this point. I didn't need a wallbreaker, I needed a pivot. Aka, smogon-washing-machine-thing! I loved using rotom-w in the past, and being able to cripple things with will-o-wisp is cool, as will as completing the volt/turn core I had mentally formed with talonflame. Also, at this point it's my gallade, not wally's, and so I made him shiny.

I hadn't quite decided what sets I'd be using for all my mons at this point, but I fiddled around with it and got reasonably high enough on the ladder to consider this a good team (I only got to around 1300 because I suck at battling lol, but I'm sure in the right hands this could go further).
