Pros:
+ Great offensive stats on the physical and special side which alongside its good dual stabs allow it to run mixed sets which can threaten pure physical or pure special walls
+ Super high physical attack which can allow it to effectively wallbreak and puncture holes in the opposing team for sweepers
+ Good bulk allowing it to survive most neutral hits as well as many super effective hits for example easily tanking clefable moonblast and slowking galar ice beam
( 0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp-Mega: 204-242 (57.1 - 67.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 SpA Slowking-Galar Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp-Mega: 292-348 (81.7 - 97.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO )

Cons:
- Unimpressive speed makes it easier to revenge kill or deal significant damage to it from faster mons
- Huge opportunity cost as you can use regular garchomp at the cost of less attack and bulk with the bonus of more speed and not wasting your mega slot

Checks:

Bulky Physical Walls:

:corviknight::slowbro::skarmory: :rotom-wash::hippowdon:

These mons can survive a hit from mega garchomp and inflict status which can cripple mega garchomp, however they will be severly weakened which opens up mega garchomps teammates. Skarmory and corviknight resist mega garchomps dual stab and can either set hazards, remove hazards or iron defense up however they must be mindful of fire blast which even without investment can easily two shot both.

Bulky Grass Types:
:meganium-mega::chesnaught-mega::sinistcha::serperior:

These all can withstand mega garchomps ground stab with mega meganium resisting both stabs, however they must be careful for fire blast or fire fang from mixed sets which can deal massive damage as well as dragon stab.

Bulky Fairies:
:clefable::hatterene: :azumarill: :tinkaton:(:air-balloon:)

These can all tank a hit from mega garchomp and threaten it with fairy stab, however they need to be followed up with another revenge killer as their fairy stab wont KO. Unaware clefable only gets 3hko'd by mega chomp and can beat it 1v1 however it has to be mindful when switching in.

Revenge Killers:
:dragapult::starmie-mega::kingambit::weavile::meowscarada:
(triple axel):scizor:/:scizor-mega: :ditto:

Revenge killers that can outspeed with super effective coverage such as dragapult or meowscarada or use priority such as scizor or kingambit are solid at forcing mega garchomp out or do massive damage/OHKO it

Swords Dance:
Garchomp-Mega @ Garchompite
Ability: Sand Force
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang/Fire Blast/Stone Edge/Substitute
- Scale Shot

Swords Dance Mega Garchomp is a solid wallbreaker that can break or heavily chip physical walls such as corviknight, slowbro and skarmory with fire fang or the potential fire blast with a naive nature to hit the flying-steel birds. Running naive nature however leaves it more prone to special attacks from special attackers such as greninja or delphox. With scale shot, it alliviates mega garchomps slow speed a bit by giving it a +1 speed boost after scale shot with it being decent dragon stab in its own right. This allows it to wallbreak which allows its teammates to clean up lategame. Stone edge is also another possibility for it to hit flying types which can be useful on sand teams as it can allow mega garchomps teammate excadrill to sweep lategame. Substitute can be nice of hyper offense builds as a prevention to conditional priority such as kingambits sucker punch as well as status.

Mixed Attacker Utility:

Garchomp-Mega @ Garchompite
Ability: Sand Force
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock

Mixed sets allow mega garchomp to prey on the physical walls that attempt to switch into its still strong stab earthquakes. With draco meteor as a strong special stab it effortlessly breaks through dragon types such as dragonite while hitting neutral targets such as hippowdon, rotom-wash, slowbro with fire blast melting corviknight and skarmory. This alongside stealth rock for setting up hazards allows it to become an effective early and midgame wallbreaker opening up holes and setting hazards for its teammates.

Teammates:

- :tyranitar:/:hippowdon: + :excadrill: as a sand core with hippowdon or tyranitar setting up the sand boosting garchomps earthquakes and potential stone edge's even more with its wallbreaking potential allowing excadrill to sweep lategame with ease with excadrill also removing hazards allowing mega chomp with more switchin opportunities.

- Slow Pivots such as :slowking: and :slowking-galar: alongside other mons like flip turn :primarina: bring in special walls which can give free switchin opportunities for mega garchomp

-Hazard setters such as :skarmory: :garganacl: and :clefable: not only form as hazard stacking pairs for garchomp but both are also immune to passive damage with skarmorys steel typing, garganacl's rock typing and clefables magic guard allowing them to be a strong hazard pair on sand teams.

Unironically one of the few benefactors of the removal of items like Band and Life Orb. Mega Chomp's now objectively stronger regardless, and it does gain tools like Scale Shot to somewhat circumvent its lesser Speed stat. Regular Chomp is probably still much better though, the opportunity cost is MASSIVE, and its perks are quite situational.

But at the very least, it has a genuine niche ATM.
