ORAS OU Mega Gyara balance - The Greatest

Introduction

Yo everyone! I'm a young student from Finland (also the biggest Hendersin fan) coming at you with my first RMT, this team was built before Hoopa came out but it can still perform well. I wanted to build around Mega Gyarados cause my good friend mentioned how good and fun to use it was, I also didn't have any recent experience with this mon so I wanted to give it a try. Suggestions and help is greatly appreciated!

My favourite Hendersin song for you to listen while reading the RMT n.n

The Team

I built around the balance core consisting of Mega Gyarados, Raikou and Clefable, their defensive synergy is good and their offensive synergy is decent too.

gyarados-mega.gif

Macho Fantastico (Gyarados) @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Dragon Dance

The teams main physical sweeper. I feel like Mega Gyara is a bit underrated, I've also noticed that people don't prep for this so much anymore giving it even more sweeping potential. Max Atk to hit as hard as possible, 252 Spe and Jolly nature allows Gyarados to outspeed Mega Lopunny/Manectric and some scarfers at +1. The moveset is pretty standard, Waterfall for stab, Crunch for secondary stab and with this we wont get walled by bulky water's like Slowbro and Earthquake is to knock out Rotom-w

raikou.gif

KesäKissa (Raikou) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 32 SpD / 224 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Shadow Ball
- Volt Switch

Next is the 2nd part of the core, Raikou has it's uses in the team serving as a Eletric check, also namely getting rid of Skarmory for Gyarados also checking Keldeo and Manaphy is nice. max Spa to hit as hard as possible, 224 Spe is enough to outspeed Thundurus-I and the rest of the EV's are dumped into SpD. The moveset is standard here too, Tbolt for stab and Vswitch for secondary stab and momentum, HP Ice to hit ground types, Shadow Ball to hit Lati's and Celebi harder if needed. (Signal beam can also work in Hoopa meta.) I choce AV over Specs for more bulk over power, I also don't like locking myself into 1 move.

clefable.gif

Fäijönii (Clefable) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Flamethrower/Thunder Wave
- Soft-Boiled
- Moonblast

Third and final part of the core, Clefable is a nice check to Fighting types, Kyurem-B, Dark types and Mega Manectric. (I might have missed some mons there.) The spread is standard, with it Clef can live 2 Tbolts from m-Mane and also check Kyurem-B granted it doesn't have Iron head. With CM it is a possible wincon which has won me games, Flamethrower to lure in those Steel types for Mega Gyara. (Namely Ferrothorn and Skarmory.) other option would be Twave to slow down threats, it also helps nicely with setting up. Soft-Boiled for recovery and Moonblast for stab.

landorus-therian.gif

Etenee (Landorus-Therian) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 8 SpD / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock

At this point I was looking weak to sand and I also wanted a rocker so I went for Lando-T which can also check big threats in the meta like Zard-X, Talonflame and m-Scizor. I'm not too sure about the spread so help with it would be appreciated. Earthquake for powerful stab to ohko Excadrill and to hit alot of mons hard even without investment, Stone Edge to kill flying types Lando is made to check, U-turn for momentum, forming a nice Volt-turn core with Raikou and of course Stealth Rock which is mandatory for any OU team.

latios.gif

Luukutetaa (Latios) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Defog
- Hidden Power [Fire]/Roost

Latios is my only Water resist that would like to take a Scald so Roost might be better on the last slot. I also wanted a Defogger that could check Keldeo which is a big threat. Max/Max to outspeed alot of the meta and to hit as hard as possible also allowing it to speed tie with other 110's. Draco meteor for powerful stab, Psyshock to hit Fighting types and it also hits Chansey and Clefable harder than Psychic, Defog to remove hazards, the last slot can be either HP Fire to weaken Ferro/Skarm or Roost for recovery which might be the better option in this team.
talonflame.gif

Siistii Räppii (Talonflame) @ Leftovers
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 224 HP / 252 Atk / 32 Def
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Will-O-Wisp
- Swords Dance

Talonflame is the teams revenge killer, getting rid of namely Keldeo and Mega Lopunny. This is the Jamvad set which I've spammed in all of my teams lately, 224 HP for a Lefties number, max Atk and adamant to hit hard, rest of the EV's are dumped into Def. Brave Bird for strong prio stab, Roost for recovery, Will-O to burn Talonflame's checks like Lando, Hippo, Chomp and T-tar, SD to boost Talon's attack so it can possibly sweep or atleast punch holes to the opposing team.

Like I said earlier, I'm open for any suggestions also thanks for checking out my RMT! For those wondering about the nicknames, they're named after finnish songs.

yo cash team man but I have a few small suggestions

Lando: Swap 8 evs from Defense to Special Defense to live a Manetric HP Ice at full health.

Clefable: Don't really need flamethrower since you have Lando for scizor and HP Fire on Lati to kill ferro. I would suggest changing it to T-Wave because you can toss people on the switchin and it also makes setting up on people much easier since that 25% comes in handy a lot. If you use this you will need to pick a religion and start praying because you will be going to hell otherwise.

Also a little typo where you said that Raikous speed was to outspeed Thundurus-T lol

Aight man, ill definitely try out your suggestions also thanx for pointing out that typo, ill change it rn

Little suggestions:

- Run max speed on Raikou. One of Raikou's plusses currently is the ability to somewhat check Serperior. No Raikou should ever be outsped by it. You could run 240 Speed I guess, but 3 extra points in a defensive stat doesn't really do much. It also lets you tie with Starmie which is cool.

- Clefable's EVs should be 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD with a Calm nature. This is a newer spread that is better in this meta. The given Defense and HP investment allow Clefable to avoid the 2HKO from Jolly Mega Lopunny's Return, Latios's Psyshock, and Jolly Mega Gyarados's Waterfall, as well as the OHKO from Choice Band Scizor's Bullet Punch.

- I would say run Taunt or Substitute over EQ on Gyarados. Why? Because you have many things that already check like Latios, Raikou, and Clefable. With the new move, Gyarados can also set up on more defensive pokemon and avoid status or 50/50s if it runs Substitute.

- Not to insult Jamvad (I'm a fan of him too), but I don't think that's the best set for Talonflame. You said you wanted a revenge killer, so I would just run Banded Talon if you want that, or SD Talon for another wincon (which your team could use). You can also run like the same moves but a different EV spread of 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe.

Talonflame @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe or 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Swords Dance
- Roost

Talonflame @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Steel Wing / Tailwind

Hope I helped and good luck!
Ok, the Clef spread was one i wasnt too sure on too so thanks for that! I'll also give a try to your other suggestions and see what works the best for me, thanks for your help!
