**Status**: Toxic and Thunder Wave from Pokemon such as Clefable, Heatran and Blissey can cripple Mega Latias and hinder its effectiveness significantly.

**Fairy-types**: Calm Mind Clefable, Magearna and Mega Mawile can all threaten Mega Latias with their STAB moves while taking very little damage from unboosted Psyshock and Aura Sphere.

Mega Latias acts as an effective Calm Mind win condition thanks to its good bulk and Speed along with its access to reliable recovery. Levitate is a very useful ability, as it makes Mega Latias immune to Spikes and Toxic Spikes as well as allowing it to switch into Ground-types like Landorus-T and Gliscor. Calm Mind enables Mega Latias to set up and break through Pokemon like Slowbro and Corviknight while the increased Special Defense makes it harder for it to be revenge killed by Ash Greninja and Tapu Koko. don't think revenge killed is the right phrase here as it makes it sound like mega latias is an offensive sweeper when that isn't the case, i would say "overwhelmed" here instead Psyshock is the STAB move of choice, allowing Mega Latias to hit Blissey much harder and win Calm Mind wars against Clefable. Aura Sphere allows Mega Latias to hit Steel- and Dark-types that resist or are immune to Psyshock such as Heatran, Tyranitar and Weavile ash-greninja is also a good mention here. Maximum HP investment bolsters Mega Latias's bulk, while max Speed with a Timid nature allows it to outspeed Pokemon like Garchomp and Kartana. fluff

Mega Latias functions well on balance teams which appreciate its ability to be a win condition and simultaneously act as a defensive wall it's not really a wall nor will people use it as one, just say how its a win condition with valuable defensive utility. Fire types such as Cinderace and Heatran enjoy its Water resistance and Ground immunity, while helping it deal with problematic Steel-types like Mega Scizor and Aegislash add Magearna here. Mega Latias loves Stealth Rock and other hazards being up to pressure Weavile and lure in defoggers it can set up on such as Zapdos and Corviknight, so good Stealth Rock setters like Landorus-T and the aforementioned Heatran are appreciated. Magnezone can trap and take out Mega Scizor to allow Mega Latias to sweep more easily. there's more you can add here like Pokemon that absorb status primarily toxic because of its extreme susceptibility to it and Pokemon that are weak to stuff like Mega Lopunny and Kartana and they appreciate Mega Latias' ability to check them

Mystical Fire can be run instead of Aura Sphere to hit Aegislash, Magearna and Mega Scizor, but struggles against Heatran and Tyranitar you should emphasize tyranitar here because it's why Aura Sphere is so important, being Pursuit trapped by it sucks. . Refresh can help ward off status but losing Aura Sphere leads to Mega Latias being easily walled by Dark-types. i think it's worth mentioning boltbeam here since its able to legitimately pressure Ground-types and bulky Water-types as well

Checks and Counters
===================

**Aegislash**: Aegislash resists Psyshock and is immune to Aura Sphere, allowing it to switch in and threaten Mega Latias by setting up Swords Dance and hitting it with Shadow Claw.

**Mega Scizor**: Mega Scizor takes negligible damage from Psyshock and Aura Sphere, allowing it to set up with Swords Dance and hit Mega Latias with Knock Off or U-turn. mention how Mystical Fire can heavily threaten Mega Scizor

**Weavile**: Choice Band Weavile can outspeed and OHKO Mega Latias with Triple Axel or use Pursuit and heavily damage it as it tries to switch out.
why just Weavile? Why not Dark-types in general because they are huge threats to Mega Latias even when it's carrying Aura Sphere, Mega Tyranitar and Ash-Greninja are not mentioned here when they really should, I highly recommend you implement them here and generalise this to Dark-types as a whole

**Status**: Toxic and Thunder Wave from Pokemon such as Slowbro and Blissey can cripple Mega Latias and hinder its effectiveness significantly. slowbro cant really fit toxic or twave in its moveset, clefable and heatran are much better examples here.

mention fairy types here, cm clefable, mega mawile and magearna pose as threats to Mega Latias

Mega Latias acts as an effective Calm Mind win condition thanks to its good bulk and Speed along with its access to reliable recovery. In addition, it can check many Pokemon such as Mega Lopunny, Kartana and Heatran. If you're using Mega Latias as your Mega Lopunny check, you're definitely doing something wrong. Mega Latias is too easily pressured by chip damage from Stealth Rock + U-turn to be considered a good check. The fact that Mega Lopunny is commonly run with Pursuit certainly doesn't help either. Levitate is a very useful ability, as it makes Mega Latias immune to Spikes and Toxic Spikes as well as allowing it to switch into Ground-types like Landorus-T and Gliscor. Without a mention of Ice Beam here, I'm really not a fan of mentioning Landorus-T and Gliscor here. Mega Latias is simply not a very good check to either without Ice Beam. You should definitely interpret that its immunity to Spikes bolsters its consistency as a Calm Mind user. Calm Mind enables Mega Latias to set up and break through Pokemon like Slowbro and Corviknight while the increased Special Defense makes it harder for it to be overwhelmed by Greninja, Tapu Lele and Tapu Koko. It makes sense to specify Ash-Greninja here because regular Greninja would just continually use U-turn to force out as many Roosts as possible. Psyshock is the STAB move of choice, allowing Mega Latias to hit Blissey much harder and win Calm Mind wars against Clefable. Aura Sphere allows Mega Latias to hit Steel- and Dark-types that resist or are immune to Psyshock such as Heatran, Tyranitar and Weavile.

Mega Latias functions well on balance teams which appreciate its ability to be a win condition while simultaneously having important defensive utility. Fire types such as Cinderace and Heatran enjoy its Water resistance and Ground immunity, while helping it deal with problematic Steel-types like Magearna, Mega Scizor and Aegislash. Mega Latias loves entry hazards being up to pressure Weavile and lure in defoggers it can set up on such as Zapdos and Corviknight, so good Stealth Rock setters like Landorus-T and the aforementioned Heatran are appreciated. Magnezone can trap and take out Mega Scizor to allow Mega Latias to sweep more easily. Status absorbers like Gliscor and Clefable can help with Mega Latias's vulnerability to Toxic and these two in particular can also provide Stealth Rock. Pokemon that are threatened by Heatran, Mega Lopunny and Kartana such Blissey and the aforementioned Steel-types appreciate Mega Latias's ability to check them.

This paragraph is honestly a bit of a mess. It really doesn't focus on many of the important things to keep in mind when building a Mega Latias team and suggests a bunch of things that really only sound okay on paper and don't really apply in practice. A good example of this is suggesting that you use Mega Latias as a switchin to defensive Water-types. "Fire types such as Cinderace and Heatran enjoy its Water resistance" strongly implies that you will want to use Mega Latias to switch into defensive Water-types like Toxapex and Slowbro. Unfortunately, that's really not what you want to do; you're likely to switch into a Scald, and once Mega Latias gets burned, it becomes a million times easier to pressure due to the absence of Leftovers or Magic Guard.

I would like this paragraph to consist of the following things:

  • Stealth Rock support. It is absolutely one of the most important things to Mega Latias; pressuring Weavile passively is very important.
  • Magnezone is an important partner too. Removing Mega Scizor, Corviknight, etc. from the equation can make things so so much easier for Mega Latias.
  • Heal Bell support from Magearna and potentially even Clefable is certainly worth noting because Mega Latias is a magnet for the move Toxic. There is almost no game in which it does not end up getting Toxiced atleast once. Being able to restore your wincondition with Heal Bell is notable.
  • Spikes are worth mentioning too because they do help with wearing down a lot of Mega Latias's checks. Ferrothorn is the most notable partner.
  • Secondary Heatran checks are near-mandatory too because Mega Latias is just not a Pokemon that beats it long-term.
  • You could probably mention Dark-types like Weavile and Tyranitar too because they allow you to play into Psychic-types aggressively, which Mega Latias can otherwise really struggle with.

Mystical Fire can be run instead of Aura Sphere to hit Aegislash, Magearna and Mega Scizor, but struggles against Heatran and Tyranitar, the latter being able to Pursuit trap Mega Latias easily. Refresh can help ward off status but losing Aura Sphere leads to Mega Latias being easily walled by Dark-types. Thunderbolt and Ice Beam can be used as the two attacking moves as this combination can threaten Ground-types and bulky Water-types more immediately.

You don't mention the downsides to any of these moves, which you really should. Surely there's a reason they're in Other Options rather than on the main set right?

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Steel-types**: Aegislash and Mega Scizor can switch into most of Mega Latias's moves and threaten to set up or deal damage to it, but they must watch out for Mystical Fire.

**Dark-types**: Dark-types like Weavile, Ash Greninja and Mega Tyranitar are immune to Psyshock and can threaten to do a lot of damage to Mega Latias, but they must be vary of Aura Sphere. They lack longevity too.

This implies Calm Mind Mega Mawile. Also, aren't there conditions under which Clefable and Mawile can lose?

I would definitely like to see Psychic-types here too. I would specifically mention Slowbro and Slowking because they can cripple it with Scald and Teleport into a faster check like Weavile with very little regard.
