MEGA LATIOS OFFENSE

INTRODUCTION

Hello guys , This is my first RMT on the Smogon forums. This RMT will be based off on Mega Latios , a Pokemon outclassed by many, but I still wanted to ladder with it and prove to people that it really is not as bad as people think. I made it to the 1700's with this team and really wanted to share it.

THE TEAM

latios-mega.gif

Latios @ Latiosite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Zen Headbutt
- Earthquake

This is my mega which is a physically offensive variants of one of the twins . This comes with an element of surprise as it can set up on for eg- rotom(w) which otherwise won't stay in on a Draco and then proceed to sweep . I admit this is definitely not the best of set up sweeper in the current meta but like I said I'm trying out something new and unique this time. Dragon Dance to boost stat and maybe sweep later on in the game , Dragon Claw and Zen Headbutt is stab and I chose Earthquake as coverage.

excadrill.gif

Excadrill @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Slide

Excadrill was stapled on this team to drill discipline into those pesky "clef 'n' klef "which bother Latios a lot . Excels best as a late game sweeper and can clear rocks for late game birdspam.
However scarf drill highly distorts momentum so I always try to make cautious predictions when playing around it . Earthquake and Iron Head are obligatory stab , rapid spin for getting rid of hazards and Rock Slide for coverage against flying types.

feraligatr.gif

Feraligatr @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Dragon Dance
- Crunch
- Superpower

One of my all time favourite set up sweeper . I love how much offensive pressure it puts on the opposition . After +1 it wrecks havoc on the opposing team. However despite of being a fricking offensive powerhouse it can be easily worn down as it doesn't have the decent bulk to begin with . Also it is hard wall by the likes of washing machine and fat oaf rabbit so if anyone is willing to use this team I highly recommend to swap places with a wall breaking Manaphy. Adamant nature for maximum power , Dragon Dance to boost stats and Sweep. Crunch for fat psychic types like mew which are annoying to this team, and Superpower for Ferrorthorn and etc. Waterfall is mandatory stab which is boosted by sheer force and does a shit-ton of damage.

clefable.gif

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
- Thunder Wave
- Moonlight

This is basically nothing but shameless abuse of t-wave.
But yeah this is my SR setter and put set up sweepers in check. Moonblast is obligatory stab and Moonlight is the best recovery option available for this set. EV spread is enough to keep most of the meta in check , taking a +1 Return from Mega Alt and avoids 2hko from Thundurus.

talonflame.gif

Talonflame @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Steel Wing
- Flare Blitz

Next up is Talonflame , I chose to go with the banded set as I enjoy the immediate power that it has and is one of the most devastating late game clears of all time. Brave Bird cause that is literally the main thing this pokemon is known for , priority BB. Flare Blitz is also very strong stab. Steel Wing to take Diancies by surprise and end there lives , U-turn for momentum. I chose Jolly nature over Adamant as I want to avoid Weavile Ice Shard.

breloom.gif

Breloom @ Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Spore
- Bullet Seed
- Rock Tomb
- Mach Punch

Breloom , the bane of sand teams, nightmare for Bisharps . Breloom is the heart of my team as my team becomes vulnerable to many top tier threats like Bisharp , Azu and sand rush Excadrill after loom departs. This thing is my answer to sand as this team is really weak to it. Spore cause it's the best move Breloom has , Technician BS and MP go hand in hand like PBJ. Rock Tomb to catch those pesky Talons and Torns off guard.

This concludes my team , Hope you guys liked it , any constructive criticism and help is appreciated. I will leave a importable if you guys want to use this team. Along with Threatlist and Replays.

Excadrill @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker

- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Slide
- Iron Head

Ability: Technician

Clefable @ Leftovers

Sand teams are really annoying to face too. I have to play very carefully against them.

Only thing I can think of that may be helpful is making Breloom a Poison Heal variant or swapping for a Guts Conkeldurr to help with priority status moves aimed at Latios. Poison Heal Breloom may not be as strong initially, but it does give you a safe switch into Scalds long term as well as a safe Knock Off switch in. Otherwise Conkeldurr is much beefier than Breloom and removes an additional Fire and Ice weakness on your team, although you lose Spore and Breloom is much better against Hippo and Azumarill, although Conk has Poison Jab for Fairies. Anyway burns and Scald seem pretty problematic for this team in general and some means of alleviating that could make switching for your team easier to do. Otherwise Ferrothorn could replace Breloom as its STABs are handy versus Sand, and it can lay Stealth Rock and use Thunder Wave which frees up two slots for Clefable.

Good team, way to make Mega Latios work.

Hello, nice team here it doesn't look bad at a first glance but it have many flaws most notable are :

  • Weakness to Zard-X since Scarf Excadrill can't really revenge kill him and Talonflame have a stealth rock weakness and its pretty easy to check a choice locked Talonflame on flying move.
  • Weakness to Serperior since Talonflame is offensive and is taking full damage from stealth rocks
  • Weakness to Bisharp which can easily eat your team
I don't like Clefable in your team and even more if its a stealth rock variant, its completly ruin your 'offensive pressure' and thats really bad.
Skarmory is really a huge problem since the only thing which can KO him is Talonflame which is your 'revenge killer' and which will take full damages from Rocks.
Scarf Landorus-T is another annoying threat since it can just spam U-turn early game and spam his STAB in late game.
I recommend to use Garchomp over your Clefable as stealth rocker, its one of the best stealth rocker in offense since it can also checks threat like Bisharp and can punish u-turn with its ability.
In offense, there are no really few way to deal with Zard-X : Landorus-T or Prankster user which can t-wave it and after proceed to the revenge kill by using another mon,i wanted a good electric checks which can work well with Garchomp and which can check Dragon type so Klefki fits perfectly on this role by also giving you hazard(which can be helpfull for your Latios/Fera)
Serperior is still a huge problem,Using Tornadus-T will help you to have a better time with him since you resist his main STAB move and don't really care about coverage move, good pivot which can give you the momentum by using U-turn or forcing switch thanks to its decent coverage and to its acces to Hurricane.

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 164 Def / 92 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail
- Fire Blast

Outspeeding Jolly Bisharp

Klefki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 80 SpA / 176 SpD
Calm Nature
- Spikes
- Magnet Rise
- Thunder Wave
- Dazzling Gleam

2HKO M-Sableye 252 HP with no SpeDef investissement

Tornadus-Therian @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 172 HP / 4 Def / 80 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Knock Off
- Heat Wave
- U-turn

80 SpA allow you to OHKO Keldeo after rocks,252 Spe to tie with other Tornadus-T,172 Hp is an SR number

Have fun !

Skarmory is a fucking issue to this team. 5 physical attackers and flare blitz is your best option besides t-wave luck with clef hoping it doesn't pack iron head (althought in truth it isn't seen much)

I agree with t-flame to torn-t but that's it.
Drill to Klef changes the dynamic of the team too much and although the answer to t-flame is useful I still agree with Clef on the team. Answers set-up sweepers, t-wave for lulz, and reliable recovery. Solid member of the team imo

I love the team so much but I can't help but feel healing wish lati would be better than m-latios but fuck it. We keepin it 100 out here. Sick team, can't wait to abuse it more. :D

Edit: LO Taunt Torn-T does a number to help the team. Taunt would make me recommend Chomp though. Endure or SD is better than Fire Blaston Chomp with Heat Wave on Torn in my opinion. If you want to keep Clef like I do then run Focus Miss for bisharp (and tran) which does some damage with Breloom gone. Last note, AV torn-t minimizes some of the Scald weakness.

Food for thought.
