Mega Latios [QC 0/2]

[SET]
name: Wallbreaker
move 1: Ice Beam
move 2: Aura Sphere / Earthquake
move 3: Roost
move 4: Thunderbolt / Psyshock / Mystical Fire
item: Latiosite
ability: Levitate
nature: Timid / Hasty
evs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Mega Latios struggles mightily in the meta game due to being majorly overshadowed by Mega Latias. That said, it does have a few perks in its superior mixed attacking stats. Ice Beam provides excellent coverage and hits Gliscor and Garchomp incredibly hard. Aura Sphere hits certain Steel-types such as Ferrothorn and Magnezone quite hard, but the primary use for it is to punish Tyranitar which threatens to Pursuit trap it. Earthquake also hits Tyranitar and Magnezone while also doing more damage to Heatran but is weaker than Aura Sphere overall due to a lower Atk than SpA. It also misses out on Kartana Roost is required to consistently heal off damage, allowing it to check dangerous Pokemon like Kartana, Heatran and even Gliscor and Garchomp. Thunderbolt provides completely neutral coverage in tandem with Ice Beam, nailing Corviknight, Tapu Fini, and Slowbro. Psyshock provides a consistent STAB move that can do major damage to Toxapex, while also luring Blissey. Mystical Fire is the best option against Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn and can perhaps deter Tapu Fini from switching in.

Mega Latios requires good team support in order to get the most out of it. Magnezone is a particularly good partner as it can trap and eliminate Ferrothorn, Corviknight and also helps against Tapu Fini. It also appreciates Mega Latios taking on Heatran and Kartana. Stealth Rock support is mandatory to make multiple benchmarks like a guaranteed 2HKO on Tyranitar. As such, Garchomp and Ferrothorn are good partners. Garchomp can also break down Blissey and other special walls while Ferrothorn provides Spikes in addition to Stealth Rock. Volcorona is a potent sweeper that can capitalize on the holes Mega Latios can punch in teams. They also have fantastic offensive synergy since Volcorona can remove Slowbro, Ferrothorn, Mega Scizor, Magearna and Corviknight. In return, Latios wears down Tyranitar and threatens Garchomp.

Other Options
=============

Draco Meteor is one of the strongest moves Mega Latios has available but the recoil and the lack of coverage means it struggles to be used effectively.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dark-types**: Dark-types such as Weavile and Mega Tyranitar can both check Mega Latios via Pursuit, discouraging it from switching out.

**Steel-types**: Most Steel-types, while they do take good damage from Earthquake and Aura Sphere, can potentially force it out such as Magearna threatening Fleur Cannon or Mega Scizor threatening U-turn.

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types are not weak to many of Mega Latios's move and can shrug off Psyshock. Clefable is a prime example of this.

Mega Latios struggles mightily in the meta game due to being majorly overshadowed by Mega Latias. That said, it does have a few perks in its superior mixed attacking stats. I don't really like comparing Mega Latios to Mega Latias directly; they don't really do the same thing at all. Stating that the only reason Mega Latios struggles in the meta is Mega Latias is also a poor assertion to make due to this things extremely janky coverage and the fact that it almost never hits everything it needs to no matter what it does. Ice Beam provides excellent coverage and hits Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Garchomp incredibly hard. Aura Sphere hits certain Steel-types such as Ferrothorn and Magnezone quite hard, but the primary use for it is to punish Tyranitar which threatens to Pursuit trap it. Earthquake also hits Tyranitar and Magnezone while also doing more damage to Heatran It OHKOs offensive heatran; this should be emphasized. Also more damage onto Magearna is good. but is weaker than Aura Sphere overall due to a lower Atk than SpA. What? That's not why Aura Sphere is preferred. It forces more damage onto important targets like Ferrothorn, Tyranitar, and even an over aggressive Weavile. It being weaker overall is not what makes it worse. It also misses out on Kartana. Ice Beam OHKOs Kart. Roost is required to consistently heal off damage, allowing it to consistently check dangerous Pokemon like Kartana, Heatran, and even Gliscor and Garchomp. Thunderbolt provides completely mostly neutral coverage in tandem with Ice Beam, nailing Corviknight, Tapu Fini, and Slowbro. Can't get completely neutral coverage when Magnezone is in the tier. Should just be reworded. Psyshock provides a consistent STAB move that can do major damage to Toxapex, while also luring Blissey. Emphasize Blissey, its the most important part of Psyshock. Mystical Fire is the best option against Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn and can perhaps deter Tapu Fini from switching in. I get what your trying to say here but it doesn't make much sense especially when Thunderbolt is an overall better option and punishes Fini more directly.

Difference between Hasty and Timid and when to use what should be talked about

Mega Latios requires good team support in order to get the most out of it. This is a rather barebones first sentence; why does it need more support than an average Pokemon? Magnezone is a particularly good partner as it can trap and eliminate Ferrothorn, Corviknight and also helps against Tapu Fini. It also appreciates Mega Latios taking on Heatran and Kartana. Stealth Rock support is mandatory to make multiple benchmarks like a guaranteed 2HKO on Tyranitar. As such, Garchomp and Ferrothorn are good partners. Ferrothorn doesn't usually run Stealth Rock Garchomp can also break down Blissey and other special walls while Ferrothorn provides Spikes in addition to Stealth Rock. Ferrothorn is never running both on the same set, which this implies. This entire Volcarona section is quite strange; Volc isn't really good right now and certainly not good enough to get its own little section at the end of what is a rather barebones second paragraph. The Latios wearing down Ttar and Chomp isn't especially notable when there are several other partners (or just general spikes support) that also do this.

This paragraph is in general too barebones and doesn't mention any sort of defensive utility or partners that can help with Mlatios's 4MSS.

Draco Meteor is one of the strongest moves Mega Latios has available but the recoil and the lack of coverage means it struggles to be used effectively. What does Draco Meteor do specifically? Just "being more powerful" doesn't warrant being put here.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dark-types**: Dark-types such as Weavile and Mega Tyranitar can both check Mega Latios via Pursuit, discouraging it from switching out. I don't really like this description of Pursuit; instead emphasize that it can be Pursuit trapped and that both Ttar and Weavile OHKO it with other moves as well.

**Steel-types**: Most Steel-types, while they do take good damage from Earthquake and Aura Sphere, can potentially force it out such as Magearna threatening Fleur Cannon or Mega Scizor threatening U-turn. There are many other steel-types that could be mentioned here; Aegislash should be talked about as a pursuit trapper, and other steel-types such as Corviknight and the like should be mentioned although Mega Latios has the coverage to potentially hit most of them as well.

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types are not weak to many of Mega Latios's move You cannot say this as a general statement, especially when several of our Fairy-types are hit super effectively by coverage moves. and can shrug off Psyshock. Clefable is a prime example of this. Other Fairy-types to mention here?

This analysis is not satisfactory in its current state; the second paragraph was not noticeably changed after a set change was requested, and the analysis is generally very barebones and does not showcase a great understanding of the Pokemon being written about.
