Introduction
Hi, I'm new to competitive pokemon. Obviously I suck at battling ; I come here to seek advice. I built this team around mega lopunny, and the rest of the members to support it the best they can. Here I shall present the team ;-;.
Building Process
Although Lopunny isn't what it was in ORAS, I found it useful to sweep teams that aren't prepared for it. +it's my favorite pokemon;;
Next I added protean greninja to act as a lure to things like The Tapus, Tangrowth, etc.
Then I added Tapu Lele to block annoying priority from threats such as Pinsir, Medicham, or Ash Greninja. It also finishes my somewhat FDP core.
And I figured I needed a defensive backbone, so I went with the Rotom + Ferro core. Ferrothorn also provides spike support, making it easier for Lopunny to pick up KOs.
Lastly I needed a role compression. A rocker, a Z-move user, Ground STAB and a Ground Immunity. Landorus is the obvious pick here.
In-Depth Description
Lopunny-Mega @ Lopunnite
Ability: Limber
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Return
- High Jump Kick
- Fake Out
- Quick Attack / Ice Punch
Lopunny-Mega is the pokemon this team is centered around. Its two STABs +Ice Punch has no safe switch-ins, making it near perfect for breaking/sweeping teams. Fake Out is free chip damage and it helps to put opposing pokemon in range of its other moves. Return is its primary and the most spammable move. High Jump Kick is used when the extra power is needed, or if the opposing pokemon resits normal. I'm torn between Quick Attack / Ice Punch, please tell me witch is better.
Greninja (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Protean
EVs: 176 Atk / 80 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Ice Beam
- Dark Pulse
- Gunk Shot
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Next up is Greninja. It has great speed tier, good Atk/SpA, and probably has the most coverage in the game. (barring mew/arceus ig.) It can really catch people off guard by heavily denting or KOing The Tapus on the switch. The 80 SpA evs allows Greninja to 2HKO Mew after Stealth rock, as well as 2HKOing skarmory, clefable, and Mega Slowbro. Ice Beam OHKOes Gliscor, Landorus, and Garchomp. As for the item, I found expert belt working surprisingly well, since it almost always hits super effectively.
Tapu Lele @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunderbolt / Focus Blast
Tapu Lele finishes my FDP core, and acts as a check to Bulky pokemon such as Venusaur(need to get in safely) or Toxapex. It also beats Mega Alakazam in a 1v1 if the situation calls for it. Ability Psychic surge blocks priority from Ashgren, Weavile, and mamoswine. On the downside, though, it denies priority from Lopunny so don't set yourself in an awkward position. Moonblast is chosen for fairy STAB, and psyshock is used to power through special walls such as chansey. HP fire catches pokemon like kartana and scizor. I perfer thunderbolt in the last slot, but focus blast is an option I'm considering.
Rotom-Wash @ Wiki Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 200 SpD / 56 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Defog
- Will-O-Wisp
Rotom-Wash Provides Defog support as well as wisping physical attackers. Hydro Pump is literally the only water STAB it gets outside of HP water. Volt switch provides momentum for the team. Defog is used to remove hazards, and Wisp Cripples physical attackers. I ran a Specially Defensive set as Ferro is physically defensive. 56 speed evs allow Rotom to outspeed Adamant Tyranitar.
Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
Ferrothorn is my physical wall in this team. Rocky helmet+Iron barbs can really chip down attackers, Putting them in range of Lop's double priority. Spikes slowly wears down defensive pokemon, making it easier for lopunny to sweep. Leech seed is Ferro's only form of recovery. Gyro ball can sometimes deal heavy damage to fast pokemon such as Tornadus-T. Power whip is to KO pokemon 4x weak to grass.
Landorus-Therian @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Swords Dance / Hidden Power Ice
- Earthquake
- Fly
Last but not least, I've got Landorus-T. This pokemon is my rocker, while also acting as a Flyinium nuke. Swords dance is good on paper, but I don't find myself using it very often and sometimes miss the ice coverage. Earthquake is a spammable STAB move that deals heavy damage to anything that isn't flying. The move Fly is used to use a 175-BP Z move.
and here's the importable:
Lopunny-Mega @ Lopunnite
Ability: Limber
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

- High Jump Kick
- Fake Out
- Quick Attack

Ability: Protean
EVs: 176 Atk / 80 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Ice Beam
- Dark Pulse
- Gunk Shot
- Hidden Power [Fire]

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
