VGC Mega Metagrss Team

Hi All,

Out of my own sense of petty self righteousness im trying to avoid using the top mons: lando, Thundo, M-Kang, Heat, Cress, Amoon & Aegis

Anyway heres the team

Zapdos @ Expert Belt
Pressure
Nature: Modest
EVs: 100HP 252SPA 156SPE
Tailwind
Thunderbolt
HP: ICE
Roost
I Prefer offensive supports over a defensive support that get shut down with a taunt. Zapdos is my main source of speed control thanks to tailwind. Thunderbolt & HP: Ice provices the perfect coverage of Sudo Boltbeam. Roost for recovery lettting it stay out longer. Expert Lets Zapdos 2HKO Thunderus instead of 3 without(may need to recheck this)

Milotic @ Assault Vest
Competitive
Nature: Modest
EVs: 236 HP 140 DEF 132SPA
Scald
Icy Wind
Ice Beam
Mirror Coat
Milotic provides an alternate speed control for my team. Competitive helps deter intimidate. The EVs let it survive a large hit from Mega Kang. Scald is a nice stab with a chance to burn. Icy Wind provides speed control and OHKO non assault vest lando after competitive boost. Ice Beam lets me OHKO Assault Vest Lando and bypass wideguard. Mirror Coat Lets me damage opposing water & Electric types.

Metagross @ Metrossite
Clear Body
Nature:Jolly
252 ATK 252SPE
Iron Head
Zen Headbutt
Hammer Arm
Protect
Ive always wanted to use a metagross since early days now that he has a mega hes become very viable. Clear body lets me have a nice anti intimidate lead with milotic. Jolly lets it be as fast as possible. Iron head and zen headbutt are strong stabs that recieve iron bonus. Hammer arm is a nice coverage move letting him hit bisharp & heatran who would bother him otherwise, that also gets the iron bonus. Protect is of course of scouting.

Terrakion @ Lum Berry
Justified
EVs: 252 ATK 252 SPE
Nature: Jolly
Close Combat
Rock Slide
Quick Guard
Protect
Terrakion is my Thundurus & Mega Kang counter. Lum Berry let me shrug off a para or swagger from thunderus, or a will o wisp from another. Evs are is to be fast and damaging as possible, Jolly is to ensure outspeeding Char Y & M Kang. Rock Slide is nice damage against fliers and with his speed it can have a chance to outflinch other mons. Quick Guard is used to avoid Thundurus's Prankster moves. And protect for scouting.

Sylveon @ Pixie Plate
Pixilate
EVS: 156HP 188DEF 164SPA
Nature: Modest
Hyper voice
Hyper Beam
Helping Hand
Protect
I love the power that Sylveon can unleash. EVs are to survice a double edge from jolly M Kang and OHKO with a hyper beam. Hyper voice is a nice spread move. Hyper beam is a great sacking move that lets me OHKO Mega kang. Coverage moves seem a bit useless as psyshock isnt strong enough to to kill before being sludge bombed or put to sleep by poision type. Shadowball may be useful for aegisslash, but hyper voice is better in most cases against psychics. So i chose Helping hand so my ally can hopefully take out what sylv cant. And protect is for usual scouting. As my only damage moves are fairy, Pixie plate seems best option.

Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Levitate
EVS: 252SPA 252Spe
Nature: Modest
Dark Pulse
Draco Meteor
Flamethrower
Protect
Hydreigon was chosen as i needed a counter for Aegisslash & Cresselia, Its also my best option to try and take out a trick room user before they can setup. Opted for life Orb as im not a fan of being locked into moves. Dark Pulse for the reliable stab, helps me with any psychics or ghosts that threaten metagross. Draco Meteor for its sheer power if dark pulse isnt enough. Flamethrower is coverage for Ferro/Scizor/Escal etc. Protect for scouting.

So yeah... Thanks for any feedback

Hey, nice team. I just have a few minor suggestions.
Zapdos: Because you don't have a Sitrus Berry holder on this team, Zapdos could probably make the best use of it (ignore this if you decide to use Arcanine).
Terrakion: Holding a Focus Sash would be more helpful here because your target it more likely to try to KO Terrakion than inflict it with a status ailment. However, if it turns out to be a problem for you, feel free to ignore this.
Sylveon: Helping Hand doesn't do much here. To have more coverage, you could replace it with Shadow Ball. Or if you wanted Helping Hand support you could altogether replace this slot with Arcanine.
Arcanine @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 148 Def / 36 SpA / 12 SpD / 60 Spe
Bold Nature
-Flamethrower / Overheat
-Will-O-Wisp
-Snarl / Helping Hand
-Protect / Morning Sun
Hope I could help a little, and good luck with this team!

Hey Gaveon, team looks pretty solid. I think the combination of mons you chose work well together to cover the current metagame. Making this team better without the common mons (especially Heatran) is going to be a tough task but I think it can be improved a bit. The main weakness I see is a weakness to the Mega Gardevoir Trick Room archetype. This build often includes Mega Gardevoir and Heatran, the latter of which roasts your only check to Fairies.

Quick fix to this? Ferrothorn > Milotic. It provides similar resistances that your team needs as well as still checking Japan Sand relatively well. It also gives you a solid switchin to Mega Kangaskhan, which you sorta lacked before. The main reason I added it, though, was the ability to easily OHKO all variants of Mega Gardevoir with Gyro Ball. This prevents them from setting up TR and proceeding to steamroll through your team. An additional benefit of having a grass type is the ability to ignore Amoonguss: you now have a Spore switchin and can ignore its Rage Powders when going for the kill on Garde.

While that's the only Pokemon slot I'd change, a few moveset tweaks are still in order. Firstly, I agree with the above suggestions of Zapdos holding Sitrus and Terrak holding Focus Sash. EBelt is usually used on Zapdos in place of Sitrus, which is generally a better item. I also don't think you need Lum on Terrakion, as Hydreigon, Ferrothorn, and Sylveon all deal with it relatively well. I disagree with the replacement of Helping Hand, though. I like it with the team so attacks such as Megagross Hammer Arm can deal more damage. I would replace Hyper Beam with HP Ground, though. One of the things this team cannot afford is Heatran getting a free Substitute on Sylveon, as your team struggles to break one without taking major damage. Not only is Sylveon completely walled by Heatran, but after a Hyper Beam, their partner isn't even threatened which allows an even more free Sub for Heatran. This change would make your life a lot easier when playing around that mon.

That's all from me! GL with the team but don't be afraid to use standard mons sometimes :P
