SUMMARY: Volcanion was recently released on Pokemon Showdown, so naturally my first response was to make a team around it. The team I created ended up exceeding expectations and flew me up the OU ladder. You guys should try out the team and see for yourselves. Enjoy :)

Volcanion @ Assault Vest
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
- Steam Eruption
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Sludge Wave

Volcanion is so awesome to use in ORAS OU. It gets access to the ability Water Absorb which makes it a very good Water type counter. It walls threats, such as Azumarill to death. Volcanion also quad resists Fire type attacks which makes it a great Fire counter as well. Volcanion gets arguably the best move in the game with Steam Eruption (basically Scald on steroids). Volcanion is just so unique and difficult to play around. It can be used Offensively or Defensively which makes it so lethal. I prefer the Assault Vest set in order to take Special attacking hits more comfortably such as Volt Switch users. Volcanion is definitely something to consistently plan for from now on.

  • 252+ SpA Volcanion Steam Eruption vs. 28 HP / 0 SpD Heatran: 374-444 (113.3 - 134.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Jirachi is such a threat in OU. This things sweeps late game more often than not. Most experienced players are aware of this dangerous threat and counter it very well. But, if your Jirachi counter dies such as Tank Garchomp, then prepare to click X. Choice Scarf paired with the ability of Serene Grace and the access to double STAB flinching moves makes this a nightmare to opposing teams. Iron Head and Heart Stamp have a 60% chance to flinch opposing Pokemon. U-Turn allows Jirachi to pivot very well and gain momentum nicely. Lastly Healing Wish is useful if you want to "revive" something on your team. Jirachi is used more as utility than anything on this team.

  • 252 Atk Jirachi Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 172 Def Clefable: 230-272 (58.3 - 69%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Landorus-Therian is insanely good in OU. It counters so many things and is a great partner with Volcanion. I am using the bulky Defensive set with Toxic and Stealth Rock to support my team. Earthquake is nice STAB and U-Turn allows me to gain momentum on predicted switches. I like Rocky Helmet over Leftovers for two reasons. One, everything hitting me with contact pays for it with around 16% of HP and I am able to bluff the Choice Scarf after Stealth Rock damage. This can come in handy in certain situations.

  • -1 252 Atk Choice Band Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-T: 111-132 (29 - 34.5%) -- 5.3% chance to 3HKO

Mega-Pidgeot is very underrated and underappreciated in the OU tier. This thing does one thing well and one thing only. Spam Hurricane as much as possible. With the ability No Guard after mega evolving this thing becomes such a threat. It honestly doesn't need another move, Hurricane does the job well enough. Roost provides Mega-Pidgeot with reliable recovery. Refresh eliminates the possibility of Mega-Pidgeot getting worn down by statuses like poison or burn. Work Up allows Mega-Pidgeot to set up and hit even harder with STAB Hurricanes. Mega-Pidgeot is also quite fast. It speed ties with max speed Tornadus-Therian at 375 speed. Mega-Pidgeot is another good late game sweeper. Also, Mega-Pidgeot is my only Ghost resist/immunity, so keep that in mind.

  • 252 SpA Mega Pidgeot Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Celebi: 372-438 (92 - 108.4%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
  • 252 SpA Mega Pidgeot Hurricane vs. 240 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp: 211-250 (50.5 - 59.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • 252 SpA Mega Pidgeot Hurricane vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Starmie: 211-249 (81.4 - 96.1%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Lum Berry, Dragon Dance Dragonite can cause chaos for an opponent. The Multiscale ability allows Dragonite to tank almost any one hit and retaliate with a hard hitting attack or setting up to sweep with Dragon Dance. However, using Dragonite effectively requires patience and timing. If you don't have to break the Multiscale, then keep it intact for more important situations later in the game. Dragonite is the closest thing to a wallbreaker on this team, so make sure to keep it around. I am running Adamant over Jolly simply because, I want my priority in Extreme Speed to hit harder and that extra bit of damage on all of my attacks.

  • 252+ Atk Dragonite Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Excadrill: 372-438 (103 - 121.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

I felt that Starmie fits the team as the best Rapid Spin user available. It provides my team with reliable hazard removal and speed. Life Orb, Analytic Starmie is definitely not something to mess around with either. This thing can rip apart walls that switch into it. It also gets good coverage options to choose from. I like using Ice Beam over Thunderbolt just to kill Dragon types more effectively. This is essentially all Starmie is useful for.

  • 252 SpA Life Orb Starmie Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 112 SpD Hippowdon: 439-523 (104.5 - 124.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
  • 252 SpA Life Orb Starmie Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 261-308 (78.1 - 92.2%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

don't let this thing set up, it is difficult to play around with a boost or two.

Sand Rush Drill and Tyranitar are threats. Landorus-Therian counters both, but if it goes down things will get difficult. Dragonite can check both, but is by no means a counter.

Seems like a fresh team!

It honestly hurts me to suggest this, since I don't like using this Pokemon at all, but Hippowdon>Lando-T, while being a very unfortunate momentum suck, can act as a solid stop to both bisharp and Mega Manectric while still retaining a very solid matchup against sand as well as rocks. I'd recommend a mixed defensive spread with Stealth Rock/Earthquake/Stone Edge/Slack off. Losing toxic can be a pain, as this team doesn't like bulky like bulky waters, but stone edge is needed to take on talonflame, which sweeps your team pretty easily otherwise. I think that this team, with volcanion, Mega Pidge, and starmie needs a real electric resist, as Raikou, thunderus, and escpecially Mega Manectric come close to 6-0ing you with rocks up.

Something that actually works very well, in my expiriance, is Thunderbolt>Psyshock on Starmie. It still smashes Keldeo hard, which your team handles well anyway, while smacking fat waters (outside of rotom-w) much harder. This team can struggle to beat Slowbro without stacking boosts on Pidge, so I think it would be worth your while.

A simple and, in my opinion, very effective fix to your lack of a wallbreaker is Choice Specs>Assault Vest on Volcanion. Not a creative solution, but assault vest Volcanion tends to struggle a lot with hazards and residual damage in general, as it has absolutely no way to recover health, which is really unfortunate, as many good assault vest weilders (Torn-T, Tangrowth) have ways to recover health via regenerator and potentially giga drain on the latter. The moves on Volcanion are still fine for a specs set (Probably Sludge bomb over Sludge Wave, as the poison chance is helpful) but an alternate spread of 72 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spa / 180 Spe avoids the OHKO from CB Azumarril's superpower after rocks 100% of the time and outspeeds as much as possible.

Cool video, cool team, and good luck in future battles!

Ehy man :)
The team is relatively solid but I think that are things to improve. The first problem of this team is Rotom-W, you haven't switch-in against it and you haven't pokemon that stop it, the only thing that you can try to kill it is with Starmie Psyshock + Dragonite Outrage but is really bad and useless because many teams have Dragon resistor. Also Starmie can't switch-in because Volt-Swich kill it and Dragonite after Burn is useless. Manectric is another weakness for this team, you haven't mode to stop it, the only thing that you can try is revegekill it with Dragonite but kill it after many Damage and Intimidate take off the Dragon Dance boost. Another weakness for this team is Tornadus-t you haven't a switch in, the only mode to win against it is with Dragonite but you haven't really mode to stop it. Bisharp and Weavile destroy this team, Bisharp for example is really annoying because you haven't a switch in to it and a Intimidate user that boost the bisharp's attack.

My suggest is to try Latios > Starmie Latios helps you against Manectric and is a good check to Rotom, also is a good switch in to Charizard Y. Roost is the best option because allows you to check pokemon like Venusaur and Manaphy and gives you longevity to support the team also check Keldeo that is annoying because your only switch in to it is Volcanion but can't switch on Secred Sword or hidden power Electric. Also you don't need to Hidden Power Fire because you have Volcanion that break Heatran. Also Assault Vest on Volcanion is an original idea, but I think that really work, Volcanion need to Choice Specs to be annoying, Choice Specs helps you to break Stall Team and gives you a good breaker. Hidden Power Grass > Earth Power is the best option because help you to lure pokemon like Quegsire and Slowbro that wall it. Also gives improve your matchup against Rotom--W that if it is in core with a Pursuitter you can't in Tyranitar. Harth Power isn't important in many occasions because the only utilize is to lure other Volcanion. Also your spread don't really work volcanion needs more speed to outspeed pokemon like Azumarill that check really wall a good spread is 72 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA / 180 Spe that allows it to outspeed Azumarill and Modest Magnezone. Last advice is to try Rotom-W > Dragonite Rotom helps you against sand build and gives you a check for tornadus-T, weavile snd Bisharp. Also gives it the spread 248 HP / 40 Def / 220 Spe to outspeed Jolly Bisharp that is really annoying for this team. Also I think that Yache Berry > Leftovers on Landorus, Leftovers isn't bad choice but I think that Yache Berry is better on this team because improve your matchup against Fast Electric Type that if are with a pursuit users are hard to kill, also yache berry helps you to lure Ice Punch Lopunny that if landorus is KO is annoying for the team, because you haven't switch in outside of that.

The team isn't perfect and have some Weakness, the first problem is Bisharp yeah you can check it but you haven't really good switch in and Rotom can't check it really wall. Another problem of the team is Raikou/Manectric + Pursuit users because your only switch in to Fast Electric is Latios in this team but is trapped but dark type like Tyranitar and Sharp/Weavile

Set Complete:
Latios @ Life Orb

EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

- Psyshock
- Roost
- Defog

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 40 Def / 220 Spe

- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Volcanion @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 72 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA / 180 Spe

- Fire Blast
