Mega Scizor + Band Tar Bulky Offense

What's up Smogon it's me Mega Flexagross. I'm here to actually post an RMT for the first time in god knows how long. I wanted to actually make an RMT before USUM drops mainly because I don't think I don't think ill be laddering and on PS all that much with College more stressful than ever this week, getting back my social life with old friends who are about 3 hours away as well as new friends and been trying to change the way I've been acted in the past. Anyways you guys probably don't care but I hope you enjoy my team I made. The team was made so that way Band tar could trap and eliminate most of Mega scizor checks and counters such as most variants of Heatran, non buginium Z volcarona, Lele locked into hp fire or psychic STAB, Zapdos, as well as pressuring and forcing a 50/50 vs Zard X. This team made me reach 1800s on the ladder which id say is pretty average and has some innovative stuff in it. So without further ado I hope you enjoy and let's get into the team!

scizor-mega.gif
Okay so as I mentioned before, the team is based around mega scizor basically. So the first Pokemon is Mega Scizor. Swords dance Mega scizor is SUPER nice in the current meta game. Swords dance roost and Bullet punch are all staples on SD mega scizor currently. I chose U-Turn over knock off mainly because when paired with Band Tar I felt that giving Tyranitar U-Turn support was better since Scizor again lures in stuff like Heatran, Zapdos Charizard X, etc. Also the dark coverage isn't needed on Scizor plus band tar mainly because obviously Tyranitar ha crunch. An alternative option to this would possibly be Bug Bite. I get plenty of people who complain about "you lose your boost!" and other stupid stuff, but bug bite is still decent though since you aren't forced to U-turn out vs ferrothorn.
The EVs are pretty different, but the defense and impish nature take on Mega Lopunny as well as Zygarde better. The speed EVs out speed modest magnezone which I find pretty important rn honestly since Z move magnezone is super good rn.

Impish Nature
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Roost

tyranitar.gif
The next Pokemon I decided to add was Choice Band Tyranitar. One of the best most consistent breakers in the current meta game honestly. Not ORAS level good but it still gets the job done. Stone Edge pursuit and crunch are all staples on Band Tyranitar. As I mentioned before, Tyranitar is here to trap many of mega Scizors checks and counters. The HP EVs make sure I live specs Lele moonblast after rocks as well as always living plus one volcarona bug buzz from full. The last move I put as fire punch because of Tapu Bulu Terrain can weaken Earthquake.

THIS (Tyranitar) @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge
- Fire Punch

787.png
The next Pokemon I decided to add was none other than Assault Vest Tapu Bulu. The main Gren check, the water resist, ground resist, the fairy type of the team, a nice fire type lure as well as pivoting into Tapu Lele and Tapu Koko. The EVs are standard and simple: the attack EVs and nature give Tapu Bulu the jump point in attack and the speed EVs outspeed max speed adamant tyranitar. Horn Leech, Wood hammer and Superpower are staples. Stone Edge nails and lures in Volcarona, Zapdos, Zard X and Zard Y which otherwise wall you. Also Tapu Bulu makes my rain match up a lot better along with Tyranitar setting up sand getting rid of the rain.

TEAM (Tapu Bulu) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 56 Atk / 60 SpD / 144 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Horn Leech
- Stone Edge
- Superpower
- Wood Hammer

keldeo-resolute.gif
The fourth Pokemon I decided to add was Choice Scarf Keldeo. Keldeo provided a Lando T check, a back up Greninja check, another fire resist, a back up water resist, helped my match up vs offense, a back up solid dark resist, as well as having the ever so old and solid KeldTar core. The EVs are standard as ever nothing fancy. The moves however, I found myself not really needing stone edge since most of the other teammates I found could do the job of pivoting and checking volcarona as well. HP electric is a decent option since it hits mainly Gyardos.

CLOUT (Keldeo-Resolute) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power [Electric]

heatran.gif
The 5th Pokemon I decided to add was the ever so popular and amazing Heatran. Heatran was a super nice teammate to add mainly because it provided a scizor counter, a Mega Venusaur counter if it lacks Earthquake, a stealth rocker, Magearna check, a Celesteela and ferrothorn counter as well as trapping Toxapex so that way Keldeo can win. Magma Storm Earth Power and Stealth Rock for this team are staples. Taunt annoys stuff like Mew, Toxapex, Zapdos, and other fat mons from recovering off damage. Groundium Z was chosen so that way you can 1 hit KO Toxapex after you trap it with Magma Storm. Groundium Z also nails Band tar which otherwise walls you. Heatran also completes the Fire, Water and Grass core as well as checking some fire types as well such as non hp ground Volcarona. Heatran also has a nice stall match up and walls Mega Sableye as well as flamethrower Clefable.

nidoking.gif
Lastly for my final Pokemon, I wanted a Pokemon that was an electric immunity as well as being able to absorb Toxic Spikes. That Pokemon being Nidoking. Nidoking has actually surprised me honestly. Yeah it faces lots of competition from other breakers and it's not exactly in the best spot, but the role it provided for this team was pretty nice I felt. For the moves, Sludge Wave, Earth Power, and Ice Beam were staples. The last move I chose was toxic spikes. As we all know toxic spikes are INCREDIBLY broken as of right now with everyone using toxapex on their team. People might say "why don't you just use toxic spikes nidoqueen instead of Nidoking" that's mainly because Nidoking is faster and being able to outspeed Heatran is huge in this current meta game. Also nidoking has more special attack and I felt the bulk wasn't needed on this team. Nidoking also destroys most of the bulkier pivots and fire types that wall or check Mega Scizor such as Heatran, Zapdos, Toxapex. Also Nidoking can soft check Mega Diancie as long as it isn't earth power.

FUGA :goat: (Nidoking) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Wave
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Toxic Spikes

So with that being said i'll feel free to give the list of threats to the team. There aren't too many honestly and you cannot cover every threat anyways as we all know

Threats
-
pinsir-mega.png
Honestly all of my teams just lose to this thing. Even if you have Celesteela, Pinsir can pack zone with it. I hate playing this mon but love using it. Still I have no switch ins. Band tar in Grassy Terrain should be enough though to handle this monster. To be fair though most pinsir are earthquake, so Tyranitar in Grassy Terrain can take care of it as long as Pinsir isn't CC

-
medicham-mega.png
Any team without Mew just loses to this thing. This team lacks Mew obviously so everytime it comes out, pray it misses HJK. Mega Medi also revenge kills Band Tar, Nidoking, Heatran, and also gets a free kill when Keldeo is locked into Secret Sword

-
kyurem-black.png
Of course no counters. Kyurem B just gets a free kill everytime it's in. Keldeo locked into anything but secret sword, minus one Bulu, and revenge kills Nidoking. Watch out for this thing and try to pivot around Kyurem B with Scizor plus Band Tar if it isn't in Electric Terrain.

-
gengar.png
Always a pain to switch into. Gengar revenge kills Tapu Bulu as well as getting the free switch in on Keldeo when it's locked into Secret Sword.

-
hawlucha.png
Sets up on Keldeo locked into secret sword, sets up on Tapu Bulu as well as Tyranitar locked into crunch or fire punch.

greninja.png
Extrasensory Protean gren is annoying, but band tar can live any one hit and pursuit trap it. It's Greninja so it can't set up on anything, but it revenge kills a lot of the team.

shoutouts
I'd like to shout out Noveliss and LittleLucario for helping me test this team

hey, adamant excadrill really good team! SD Sciz is a terrifying wincon with mons like Tyranitar and Heatran to back it up, forming an extremely potent core which was used in many tournament games as it is both offensively and defensively very stable. The team also has other built in cores like KeldTar and BuluTran. The team appears to be very stable both offensively and defensively, checking many common threats like Ash-Greninja, Tapu Koko, Tapu Bulu and actually having tspikes control and a ground. I also do not believe Kyurem-B is threatening to the team as ScizTran is literally the best possible matchup you can have against this mon since they do not run HP Fire + Earth Power. I do believe that the teams biggest weaknesses are its lack of a Fighting Resist, Celesteela walling 5/6th of the team and particularly, but not only EQ variants just 6-0ing with luring tran and then nothing else beats it, Spikes ( Ash-Gren comes to mind) and with very few mons that are not immune to Spikes, and no removal, going to pressure you throughout the game and as you said Mega Pinsir. I also do not like Sciz mono wincon, even if it was supported as well as you did, with it being particularly being uturn sciz as celes can wall it along with waters like Mantine, Toxapex, Keldeo, and Volcanion.

Major Changes(Pokemon Changes)

718.png
firstly, I feel like DD + Sub + Tectonic Rage Zygarde > Nidoking would be nice for the team. It clears up your mono wincon issue while also giving the team more priority which is very helpful. In addition it pairs perfectly with Sciz, chipping weakening opposing walls and also pairs well with mons like Tapu Bulu. It puts heavy pressure on mons like Celesteela, especially considering that this set is Sub > Outrage particularly for that. It takes advantage of Scizor Uturns as it can Sub on Pex and Heatran with appreciating ScizTran consistently pressuring Tang, which is dropping in popularity anyway, as that was one of the main draws of Devastating Drake or even Outrage in general(not that this is the best set or anywhere close just less questionable than before, and also saw some snake usage) . This removes your tspikes control which is something that needs fixing and also removes Toxic Spikes and a slightly solidder Koko softcheck. It also takes up the Z Slot that Heatran wants.

381.png
As the last Pokemon change, I also think that Choice Scarf Latios > Keldeo will support the team. Most importantly, Scarf Lati provides defog which scarfkeld does not, which helps with Toxic Spikes and opposing Spikes. Also, it can be used as a fighting resist to take on Mega Medicham, and force it to click Ice Punch. It is also not bait for Bulky Waters, which also check sciz and can kill a +1 Zyg and Gyara. Thunder Wave gives the team more speed control, because its fairly slow considering its second fastest mon is now a Zygarde and also makes TTar have an easier job of trapping. It also helps vs mons such as Mega Pinsir if kept healthy. It still is able to pick off Ash-Greninja. However, this does weaken your Mega Tyranitar matchup. Rain also gets a little bit more annoying, but considering they often run Ash-Greninja, Latios gets the job done just fine. Bug Buzz Volcarona is also a bit more annoying, but you have Lati + Zygarde + Tyranitar + Heatran which should check ever last Volcarona set.

Minor Changes(moveset changes)

485.png
As my only minor change, running Leftovers > Groundium Z Heatran would prevent dual z and you have Zygarde for Toxapex now. It gives you health to recover which is important as its your primary switchin to Tapu Bulu, Reuniclus and AV Magearna, to alleviate the damage. This should be self explanatory as you cant hold a Z Crystal and Leftovers is the next best thing. You do miss out on a way to simply dispose of Toxapex which could have been nice, even considering Zygarde.

Conclusion
Even though two pokemon changes and one moveset change might appear to be a lot for a team which is solid, the changes were not massive and did not change the team in any major way, or the teams idea. The team is still weak to Hawlucha and Mega Pinsir is also annoying, thanks to not having a flying resist. However, I feel to have done reasonably well against all other threats without adding other major issues.
