ORAS UU Mega Sharpedo

Sharpedo @ Sharpedonite
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Protect
- Crunch
- Waterfall
- Ice Fang

Mega Sharpedo is so powerful. It`s powerful 416 Atk. stat (base 140) ties with Rhyperior`s Atk., the 8th
Pokémon by attack stat, Adamant nature, plus it`s STAB on Crunch and Waterfall, AND Strong Jaw boost. Only god knows why this beast is in UU.

Protect gives Sharpedo it`s Spe. bonus, which is what Mega Sharpedo appreciates and help it to outspeed many many many Pokémon out there.

Crunch has an AMAZING power due to it`s STAB and Strong Jaw boost, including Mega Sharpedo`s awesome attack. It knocks out lots of Pokémon, even those who don`t have dark type as their weakness.

Waterfall is another great STAB move that every Sharpedo should carry. It helps to get rid of lots of Pokémon out there.

Ice Fang has it`s Strong Jaw boost, which makes it a powerful move, and perfect against foes like Salamence.

Froslass @ Focus Sash
Ability: Cursed Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Taunt
- Spikes
- Destiny Bond
- Ice Beam

My dear Froslass helps me to get rid of many Pokémon thanks to it`s high speed and Destiny Bond. It can also revenge kill due to it`s very high speed and decent SpA. stat and STAB boosted Ice Beam. Spikes are there to help Sharpedo because Sharpedo really appreciates hazards and about Taunt... you know, for taunting, thanks to it`s high speed ;).

Swampert @ Leftovers
Ability: Damp
EVs: 240 HP / 16 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Scald
- Roar

Swampert is a very good defender. It can defend lots of physical attacks and electric types and can also hit hard.

Stealth Rock is again, because Sharpedo and any other Pokémon appreciates hazards.
Earthquake is to hit hard Lucario, Ampharos and Heliolisk.
Scald is to burn and deal a decent amount of damage to foes.
Roar is to get rid of Pokémon such as Ampharos if they Cotton Guard.

Ambipom @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- Return
- Low Kick
- Knock Off

Ambipom is a very good Pokémon over all, I really like it. It is very powerful.

Fake Out has it`s STAB, Technician, Life Orb boosts and it`s priority which helps in revenge killing.

Return is a very powerful move because it is max attack and STAB.

Low Kick helps Ambipom to get rid of heavy enemies or anyone who is weak to fighting.

Knock Off really helps again Lanturn or Milotic.

Goodra @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Flamethrower

Goodra is another Pokémon I like. As Swampert is 4 times weak to Grass, Goodra`s Sap Sipper allows it to take any grass move. I really like using Assault Vest on Goodra because Goodra can tank so much and also hit very hard, thanks to it`s amazing moveset.

Draco Meteor is to get rid of Pokémon such as Goodra itself (hehe).
Thunderbolt really helps against Milotic, even though it can Recover, it is always good to go for the 10% paralysis chance.
Ice Beam is very good against foes like Gligar and such.
Flamethrower really helps too, against those who are weak to Fire.

Crobat @ Leftovers
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 18 Def / 212 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Defog
- Roost

Crobat is also one of my favourite Pokémon in the UU tier, as it is very fast and can also hit hard.
It ignores VERY annoying moves like substitute and reflect and then hit very hard with Brave Bird.

So yes, as I said, Brave Bird is to hit hard substituters.
U-turn is to get the hell out of there if you don`t need Crobat.
Defog is to get rid of very very annoying hazards.
Roost is to restore Crobat`s injuries.

I hope you like the team.

Hey ShirakuHikao! Interesting team. It reminds me a lot of XY Spike offense with the Froslass / Swampert hazard setting core. However, I don't believe your team takes full advantage of the hazards you set up, nor can you effectively prevent your opponent from clearing them, so I'd like to make a few suggestions to improve the overall performance of your team:
  • First off, Ambipom is not effective in the current UU metagame. That would be the first thing on your team I would replace. Since you said it was your revenge killer, I think a decent change would be Ambipom -> Scarf Mienshao. I would run a moveset of High Jump Kick / Knock Off / Stone Edge / U-turn with 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe with a Jolly Nature. For the ability, I would go with Reckless to boost the power of your main STAB. Scarf mienshao is easily the best scarfer in the tier, outspeeding nearly all common scarfers and OHKO'ing many of them. You also retain Knock Off with Mienshao, which is nice as it allows you to cripple common switchins such as Doublade.
  • I would change your Froslass set a bit to allow it to better support your team. I would change the EV spread to 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe with a Timid Nature, as the added bulk will allow you to set up more layers of spikes. I would also change Ice Beam -> Icy Wind, as being able to slow down a fast threat is nice support for the rest of your team.
  • At the moment, you seem weak to bulky waters and set up pokemon like Suicune, as well as Hydreigon and Salamence. To mitigate these weaknesses, I would suggest changing Goodra -> Whimsicott, as it is a solid check to these threats. I would run a moveset of Moonblast / Leech Seed / Encore / U-turn with an EV spread of 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 Spe with a Timid Nature, as this allows you to outspeed everything up to and including Salamence. Encore Whimsicott basically shuts down all set up sweepers. Leech Seed allows you to better handle bulky pokemon such as Suicune and beat them more reliably. U-turn allows you to maintain momentum.
  • I think running defog on a hazard stacking team is a bit redundant. I would change your Crobat moveset to Acrobatics / U-turn / Taunt / Roost. I would take off the item so Acrobatics does maximum damage and run a move offensive EV spread of 24 HP / 248 Atk / 236 Spe with a Jolly Nature. The speed allows you to outspeed everything up to and including Adamant Mega Beedrill. I opted for Acrobatics because the fast set does not have much HP, so it's important to not kill yourself to recoil. No item Crobat also switches into Beedrill better, as Knock Off will be considerably weaker. Taunt is crucial for hazard stacking teams to have, as it prevents your opponent from defogging and clearing hazards. Crobat is one of the fastest users of taunt, making it an excellent option for the role.
If you make those changes, I feel like you can have a very fun and effective hazard setting offense team. I hope you try out my suggestions! Good luck :]

What's up man, cool looking team you have here. A thing I notice about this team is that this team has Spikes + SR but is also running Defog, which is the worst for SpikeStack teams. I would like to recommend a couple of things that would definitely help out.
  • So first off, since you're running multiple hazards, I'd like to recommend NOT using Defog. It's a bummer to set up all your hazards then just lose them all to your own Defog. I'd like to recommend Tentacruel over Goodra.
    Tentacruel set:
    tentacruel.gif

    Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
    Ability: Liquid Ooze
    EVs: 242 HP / 236 Def / 30 Spe
    Bold Nature
    IVs: 0 Atk
    - Scald
    - Rapid Spin
    - Haze
    - Toxic Spikes

This set adds to your SpikeStack as well as gets rid of Hazards without getting rid of your own. Haze is kind of niche but since is team is rather weak to CroCune or other set up sweepers like Reuniclus or CurseLax it stops it from setting up. The EV's maximize its physical bulk and the speed outspeeds Adamant Honchkrow, the classic speed creep.

  • Another recommendation I have is to use CB Heracross > Ambipom. As I mentioned before, this team is rather weak to the set up sweepers in Curselax, CroCune, CM Reuni, etc. I feel like Heracross fits extremely well because it can beat all of them, also because Ambipom is pretty much ineffective in this tier anyway.
    Heracross set:
    heracross.gif

    Heracross @ Choice Band
    Ability: Guts
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Megahorn
    - Close Combat
    - Knock Off
    - Stone Edge / Earthquake

This set helps deal with all of those threats listed above and if you keep all your hazards up this thing can almost KO the entire tier. It's really a toss up between Stone Edge and Earthquake imo. I find that it's always nice to Crobat on the switch-in with Stone Edge though, which is common in this tier. But hitting common switch-ins such as Nidoqueen or Tenta is also nice if you run EQ. It's really preference
  • I also second Vapo's Crobat set as well as the Froslass set, as they'd fit best with the team, especially since you don't need defog anymore on Crobat.
But anyway, if you consider my recommendations I feel that this Hazard stack offense could really dominate. Good luck with your team!

I think the changes in your team need to be addressed at the base. It's pretty known that Ambipom is not a very good Pokemon. The descriptions you write say it handles pokemon that are already handled by Crobat and a Sharpedo clean, so I don't really see the need to double up on such a weak and redundant Pokemon.

Echoing the first two raters, I'd like to address your rapid spin problems, but I want to start at the base. For the sake of keeping the idea of your Sharpedo sweep in mind, let's keep Mega Sharpedo, Crobat, and Froslass on your team.

1) Donphan replacing Swampert will give you both Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin in the utility of one Pokemon, and keeps you from having to use Both Swampert and a spinner, or in contrast, a stealth rocker and a defogger. This allows Crobat to use Taunt instead of defog, better taking on defensive teams. In general, the third move is entirely up to you; if you want to better take on defensive teams, use Knock Off; if offensive or defensive win conditions are your issue, use Roar to get shuffle damage for the eventual Sharpedo Sweep. This change will pair up well with the other changes I will make.

Donphan @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Knock Off / Roar
- Rapid Spin

2) Regarding Crobat, You're not using all of the available EVs; you've only mentioned 482/510 - take the 18 + the remainder and put it into HP - if you have an even number, take 4 HP and put it into SpDef for Download Porygon Z + retaining the Odd HP value for more Stealth Rock switch ins. You should give it Black Sludge instead of Leftovers so that trick users get the worse end of the tradeoff.

Crobat @ Black Sludge
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 40 / 252 Atk / 216 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Taunt
- Roost

3) The last two mons are going to be Pokemon that can (a) take on special threats including Ice-type Pokemon and attacks and (b) do enough shuffle damage or wallbreaking damage so that Sharpedo can sweep. Replacing Goodra and Ambipom should be:

(i)
Rotom-Heat @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Trick
  • Rotom gives your team a potent Special Wallbreaker with great typing, improving your team's overall Offensive matchup against Bulky Waters, Offensive Ice-Types, Grass-types, and Steel-types including Mega Aggron, Forretress, Mamoswine, Cloyster, Mega Blastoise, Empoleon, Suicune, and Tentacruel - all pokemon who prevent Mega Sharpedo from getting in a sweep. Trick also cripple late-game Crocunes, Lax's, Reuniclus's, and Cresselias.

(ii)
Cresselia (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 240 HP / 208 Def / 56 SpD / 4 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder Wave
- Psyshock / Moonblast
- Toxic / Moonblast
- Moonlight / Lunar Dance
  • Speaking of Cresselia's, this is a multi-utility set that serves as the Psychic variant of Porygon 2 but with Passive Recovery and a further hindrance to all wallbreakers, being as annoying as possible and crippling anything that Rotom-H can't handle, including opposing Cresselia, Swampert, Mega Swampert, Krookodile (Band is not an OHKO), Hydreigon (Specs doesn't even come close to an OHKO), and Salamence. The combination of Thunder Wave + Toxic is meant to dish out the appropriate nuisance to fulfill Mega Sharpedo's destiny of a sweep.

Here are a few replays showing you the rhythm of this team; I tested it myself for you:

Thank you very much for the replay!

I was testing your team in a few UU games, and it work out really great!

Cresselia is putting in so much work with it`s T-Wave, so as Crobat and it`s Brave Bird.

Thanks again for your advices!

I will soon update the main thread with crediting you, ofcourse.

Here is a perfect video showing off Cresselia`s, Sharpedo`s and Crobat`s work: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/uu-250645386
