Hi everyone. This is my first RMT and I am pretty new to the RU tier. I'm not a good player so I figured I could use some help with this team. I wanted to build a hazard stacking balance team with Roselia and Mega Steelix as the hazard stacking core. And well apparently, Mega Steelix seems like the best pokemon in the tier right now...so yeah.

The Team
steelix-mega.gif

Steelix-Mega @ Steelixite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Atk / 76 SpD / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Heavy Slam
- Roar

Standard Mega Steelix set. It's a really reliable Stealth Rocks setter and it's valuable defensive typing helps form a part of the defensive backbone of the team. He can still pack quite a punch with his STABs and Roar helps with phazing and racking up hazard damage.

roselia.gif

Roselia @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 172 Def / 88 SpD
Calm Nature
- Spikes
- Synthesis
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb

Standard Roselia and the Spikes setter I chose. It pairs well with Steelix resisting fighting and water attacks aimed at it while also providing valuable resistances to fairy and grass. Helpful for a tier littered with stuff like Alomomola, Gastrodon, Amoonguss and the like.

blastoise.gif

Blastoise @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic
- Foresight

noticeably, Steelix and Roselia share a Fire weakness so I needed something that could resist fire. Coincidentally, I also wanted a spinner to get rid of hazards because Rapid Spin is generally preferred over Defog when using Spikes. Blastoise provided both a fire resist and rapid spin so I added it to my team.

scrafty.gif

Scrafty @ Life Orb
Ability: Shed Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- Iron Head

Standard Dragon Dance Scrafty. It really appreciates entry hazard support to wear down its checks/counters. It's a pretty deadly sweeper at +1 and is fast enough to power through a lot of the tier. +1 Life Orb High Jump Kick absolutely crushes anything that doesn't resist it and knock off hits everything else. Iron Head because fairies. It's massive fairy and fighting weaknesses were covered pretty nicely by Roselia too.

flygon.gif

Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch

Glues the team together and takes care of faster threats that can outspeed Scrafty at +1 (such as Manectric). Makes for a nice revenge killer or late game cleaner. Also really enjoys the hazards in combination with its U-turn. I also put Flygon into the team because it provided a decent answer to Mega Camerupt who could easily rip through my defensive backbone.

spiritomb.gif

Spiritomb @ Black Glasses
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 208 HP / 252 Atk / 48 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp

The last member should patch up remaining problems and I noticed my team struggled a lot against Gallade and Medicham. Steelix and Scrafty are beaten by fighting moves and Roselia can't take a Psychic STAB. So i added Spiritomb who resists both STABs, provides Wisp, Pursuit Trapping and some priority to the team. 48 Speed EVs allows me to outspeed and taunt Mega Steelix before it can set up stealth rock.

Conclusion
And yeah! That's the team. I feel like my team mainly struggles with Manectric and Mega Camerupt because the former has moves that dent any pokemon on the team while the latter and demolish my defensive core so suggestions on how to handle those could be helpful. Thanks for reading!

I really like this team, seeing someone that is pretty new to the tier come up with something pretty nice is something I really like to see.

The team right now is really well compressed here, and even though manectric and camerupt are definitely threats I see a bigger issue right here in the form of pretty shaky ice resists. With Mega Abomasnow leaving the RU building, mega glalie can make a return and this mon can put an extreme dent to your team since no wish passing means mega steelix could get worn down by constantly switching into it and blastoise simply loses to it thanks to freeze-dry. Team also lacks a form on inmediate power and is fairly slow outside of scarf flygon, with that being said I would recommend Banded Durant over Life orb scrafty. Durant will provide you amazing power straight off the bat and something to outspeed most of the tier since mons like virizion are extremely despise having roselia and spiritomb, it will also give you a secondary offensive psychic check which is something scrafty was doing for your team. It also take ice shards for days, switch into mega glalie and an offensive check to normal abomasnow if you see one.

Now, the issue with manectric and camerupt can be solved by changing the steelix to a different ground type. Mega steelix is indeed the best mon in the tier but mons like manectric really punish you for using it as your main electric type check. With that being said, replacing Steelix with a rhyperior can do the trick. Since I added durant and your steel type, you can run rhyperior as your ground type in here, being able to easily take hits from mega manectric and other electric types that rhyperior cant check like rotom-cut are covered by roselia (watch out for trick tho). Mega Camerupt has very few switch-ins but having flygon alleviate the issue to an extent. I will give you a rhyperior spread that outspeeds max speed modest mega camerupt since Im fairly responsible, alongside a RU comrade, why that spread became popular. Blastoise, flygon and a rhyperior should allow to play around it well enough.

Some minor suggestions: Refresh over foresight on that blastoise, this will allow you to beat most common spinblockers 1v1 and the one you dont quite beat in jellicent is bait for roselia. It also provides pseudo status absorptions which is great against stally builds. In this tier you can afford to run adamant over jolly on scarf flygon since flygon doesnt miss much with running adamant besides some niche benchmarks. It already outspeeds everything up to timid scarf rotom-c and the added extra power really helps to clean more efficiently. And I think thats it, would try foul play over taunt on spiritomb to not be bait for mons like houndoom, emboar and virizion but taunt has solid merit here catching defog flygon on the switch and preventing rocks from mega steelix and rhyperior.

Hope this changes work for you, would save this build as an alternative cause this also works really well all things considered. Running a faster steelix is also an option for mega camerupt. I will now provide the sets and changes in a hide tab. Best of lucks and hope you like this tier in the long run.
Durant @ Choice Band
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Thunder Fang
- Iron Head
- X-Scissor
- Superpower

Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 248 HP / 164 SpD / 96 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Roar / Toxic
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast

A faster mega steelix spread if you want to give it a try

Steelix-Mega @ Steelixite
Ability: Sand Force
EVs: 232 HP / 100 Atk / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
Cheers!

Hi MrAldo thanks for the rate! I really like the changes you suggested with Rhyperior and Durant and it was a big improvement. Though the misses are a bit annoying :( durant is a lot stronger, faster and damaging than scrafty was. A small problem i did have with durant was that it's defenses aren't that great so psychic and ice moves still did a ton to it (especially if it missed). Am I using Durant wrong in this case?

The changes you suggested made the team handle camerupt and manectric a lot easier too. so thanks.

Oh and Refresh on Blastoise was a good call. Having a status absorber and crippling bulky ghost switchins with toxic is a pretty useful thing to have.

Durant indeed has a very disappointing spdef stat so dont switch to recklessly into moves it can "resist" cause it really cant do that. Spiritomb would be your primary psychic switch-in and blastoise your primary ice switch-in unless the ice type is a mega glalie. Preferably pivot with scarf flygon to give durant free switch-ins and you should be fine.

And you are welcome, glad I could help.

I would also recommend Medicham over Durant (misses are unfort :[ ) keeping your fighting type and you could also play around with different options. Scarf, cb and life orb n.n whatever fits your playstyle good luck
