So I recently tried to make a rain team, which didn't really work out all that well, as my team had a few glaring weaknesses. I have remade the team, so how good did I do?
Swampert-Mega @ Swampertite
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
- Rain Dance
- Power-Up Punch
Mega Swampert is the primary physical sweeper and wallbreaker on my team. I chose to add rain dance>Ice punch so that I don't have to rely completely on Politoed for rain. The 80 EV's in HP is so that Swampert doesn't get taken down by somthing it can't outspeed, like a Draco Meteor from scarfed Lati@s
Volcanion @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 72 HP / 4 Def / 248 SpA / 184 Spe
Modest Nature
- Steam Eruption
- Overheat
- Sludge Wave
- Hidden Power [Grass]
Volcanion is the primary special sweeper on my team, as not only rain+choice boosted Steam Eruption hit like an absolute truck, but Volcanion checks many counters rain teams traditionally have, like Ferrothorn, who doesn't exactly want to take an overheat, HP grass to take out water types that might want to take advantage of the rain, and Sludge Wave to deal with any faries
Politoed @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 SpA
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Toxic
- Encore
- Ice Beam
The Toed, the staple of all rain teams. Do I really need much explanation here?
Damp rock allows 8 turns for my swift swimmers to outspeed pretty much everything under the sun (unboosted or scarfed) Toxic and Encore are to prevent mons from setting up on my Toed. Ice beam is carred to deal with (mainly) TankChomp and other bulky mons that are allergic to ice attacks
(Kabutops @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 248 Atk / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Rapid Spin
My Second Rain abuser and rapid spinner. Kabutops deals with some of my teams primary weaknesses like Thundurus-I and T. Rapid spin is an absolute must have, because I have no other way to deal with them and Rocks+Spikes is a bad time from my experience
EV's are pretty standard max attack. 8 defense can stop oneshots from most unboosted priority attacks
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Thunder Wave
- Power Whip
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
My way to set up hazards and tank attacks from things that would cripple Politoed. It messes up Rotom-W and Mega Gyarados, which havetraditionally been an issue for this team and stops potential sweepers in their tracks with Thunder Wave. It is also my best answer for faries, although Unaware/Life Orb Clefable messes it up.
Tornadus-Therian @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 76 Atk / 180 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Hurricane
- Superpower
- Taunt
- Knock Off
My Primary answer to things like Ferrothorn and Chansey trying to stall me out, Taunt+Superpower+Knock Off cripples Chansey in particular.Once its evolite is off, it is practically allergic to Superpower. 100% Accuracy Hurricane is also somthing not many mons want to swap into, especially with its confuse chance.
Tornadus also helps counter a major grass weakness on my team, and beats up on Mega Venasaur
