I would like some feedback on the team I am building. I have been trying to make competitive teams for a couple months but none have been able to stick with my inexperience. So any help is greatly appreciated and I would be thankful for the help. Also I would test on showdown myself but I have no internet at home and my phone has yet to let me finish a full battle without disconnecting.
Dragonite - weakness policy
Ability multiscale
modest nature
252 spa 252 Spe and 4 hp
- ice beam
- Draco meteor
- roost
- thunderbolt
I was think of the fact that there seems to be a good amount of lando-T leads out in ou and I had no really reliable check for them leading. I slapped ice beam for the idea of hitting flying types that I can't check with the rest if my team. Roost is to bring back multiscale after it's been broken. Draco meteor is for dragon type coverage and STAB. Thunderbolt is my flying type coverage and to get rid of some pesky water types. This set is mostly for the surprise factor. People so far have not predicted that my dragonite is special.
Tyranitar - tyranitarite
Ability sand stream
Jolly nature
252 Atk 252 Spe 4 def
- dragon dance
- earthquake
- stone edge
- crunch
I chose tyranitar for this spot when I was having trouble finding a good mega to use period. Tyranitar had great bulk and attack capabilities and add dragon dance to that and you have a great physical sweeper. Dragon dance is to bring up his ok speed to make him a more efficient clean up sweeper. Earthquake is for excadrill and other steel or fire types that think they can just walk all over him. Stone edge and aerial ace are for the fighting and flying types that are able to check him out and I don't know if ice punch is more useful in this spot.
Skarmory - leftovers
Ability sturdy
Impish nature
252 def 252 hp 4 Spd
- stealth rocks
- roost
- brave bird
- defog
I chose skarmory for this spot for his physical bulkiness. He can take a +3 fire punch from a dragonite and live if the ev's and iv's are correct. He would be my rock setter and my shuffler to move the team around until I get a safe switch in. He is centered to take the earthquake off of tyranitar and to take the fighting type hits tyranitar doesn't like. I needed a deffoger and skarmory is the only one for the job.
Sylveon - leftover
Nature calm
Ability pixilate
252 hp 252 Spd 4 spa
- heal bell
- protect
- wish
- hyper voice
Sylveon is my cleric and healing support. The hyper voice is the choice STAB and the common wish protect. I saw that there are multiple status runners in this tier and heal bell is to clear any chance of them wearing my team. There might be a better way to use wish/ protect or a better choice all together but that's what I decided to go with. Sylveon and wish pass has been highly helpful in the past and has helped me in a stick situation with mega charazards. One of the main challenges with this team is that I have to do a fair amount of predicting with wish pass.
Volcarona - shell bell
Ability Flame body
Nature - Timid
252 spA 252 Spe 4 hp
-Quiver dance
-Fiery dance
-Bug buzz
-substitute
i was recommended volcarona as a replacement for alakazam as my special sweeper, it has done wonders so far and has proven itself to be the best choice for its position. volcarona usually becomes my win condition because of the setup capabilities with sub/quiver dance. the only real threat i have come up against is mega-sableye and heatran. the main use of volcarona is a special sweeper and the fiery dance is also a set up with the chance to raise your special attack another level.
gliscor - poison orb
nature - impish
ability - poison heal
Ev's 252 Spe 200 atk 56 hp
- roost
- earthquake
- knock off
- u-turn
I chose gliscor for a pivot role. Scizor left me with too much of a fire weakness that I found exploited too often. I found that more often than not I had no reliable way to switch into heatran with any of my team. And mega-sableye is still a big problem that glucose may be able to help with. The Ev's I chose are to exploit people not expecting a physically attacking gliscor to take on heatran. Earthquake is for coverage and knock off is highly useful in this gen. Roost is to heal up if poison heal doesn't help enough and u-turn is for momentum.
the major threats before gliscor was added were heatran and sableye. But after sableye is really my only big threat. I just hope that I can have one decently functioning team for the time being and so I can work off of it
