So... This is my first time doing anything like this. I didn't know what to expect, and I did a lot of work. It's not perfect, partly because of some surprise circumstances that are more important. If these aren't satisfactory in the slightest, you have my sincerest apology. Thank you for the opportunity to even get an attempt at writing one of these.
[SET]
name: Dragon Dance
move 1: Stone Edge
move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Fire Punch / Ice Punch
move 4: Dragon Dance
item: Tyranitarite
ability: Sand Stream
nature: Jolly
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
[SET DETAILS] Tyranitar may have many type weaknesses, but its combination of strong moves and a high attack stat allows this Pokemon to deal massive amounts of damage. Tyranitar’s high defense can force out glass cannons such as Galarian Darmanitan and Aegislash-Blade, and it’s sandstorm-boosted Special Defense can force out strong special attackers such as Tornadus-Therian and Magnezone. These can give Tyranitar an extra turn to Dragon Dance and raise its attack and speed. A dragon danced Mega Tyranitar has the potential to out-speed Pokemon such as Ash Greninja and Galarian Darmanitan who dominate the tier.
Stone Edge is Tyranitar’s strongest STAB move and can OHKO the likes of Mega Charizard Y, Volcarona, and Blacephalon. Earthquake can cover it’s steel and fire weaknesses and can deal quite a bit of damage to Pokemon similar to Mega Metagross, Aegislash, and Excadrill. Fire Punch and Ice punch both work as coverage moves, Fire Punch can hit Pokemon such as Kartana and Mega Scizor really hard, while Ice Punch can counter Dragon and Ground Pokemon such as Garchomp, Hydreigon, and Gliscor.
Tyranitar has many weaknesses that you will definitely want to cover. Bulky Psychic or Fairy types such as Slowbro, Clefable, and Magearna are recommended to combat his crippling Fighting weakness. While the elemental punches cover different types, pokemon like Toxapex and Ferrothorn can cover Tyranitar’s weaknesses no matter which punch you pick. If a pokemon is too fast, then Ash Greninja might make a good pivot.
[SET]
name: Stealth Rock
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Stone Edge
move 3: Pursuit / Crunch / Superpower
move 4: Fire Punch / Earthquake / Ice Punch
item: Tyranitarite
ability: Sand Stream
nature: Adamant
evs: 132 HP / 252 Atk / 124 Spe
[SET DETAILS] Tyranitar may be very strong statistically and have many coverages moves, but its type weaknesses weigh it down. It is weak to Ash Greninja, Mega Metagross, and Garchomp, all of which are very commonly used. Fortunately, it’s high defense and sandstorm boosted special defense allow it to set up a stealth rock. Stealth Rock is very useful for preventing switch ins of Pokémon like Galarian Darmanitan and Tornadus-Therian.
Stone Edge is Tyranitar’s strongest stab move and can deal loads of damage to Hydreigon and Heatran, and even one hit knock out Galarian Darmanitan and Ash Greninja. Pursuit is perfect when forcing out defensive psychic and ghost types such as Slowbro and Shield Aegislash. Crunch also works due to its effectiveness on defensive psychic types such as Reuniclus and Superpower can also make a great alternative to cover its weakness in steel types. Fire punch can handle bulky grass types and steel types like Ferrothorn, Tangrowth, and it can even do some chip damage on Mega Metagross. Ice Punch and Earthquake make great alternatives, Ice punch still dealing with Grass, but can also deal extra damage on Dragon Types like Hydreigon and Garchomp. Earthquake will deal with Steel types, but it can hit Fire and Electric types like Heatran and Magnezone hard.
Tyranitar is able to fit many teams due to its insane attack and defense stats as well as the fact that it can lay Toxic Spikes. Because Tyranitar will still be weak against fairy, water, and ground types such as Ash Greninja, Clefable, and Garchomp, he should be paired with Pokémon like Toxapex or Ferrothorn who are defensive and can take hits from these opponents. Clefable is able to heal Tyranitar when the occasional fighting type comes up.
I didn't have time to get to these, but they're optional. If given more time, I would do these sets as well.
