ORAS OU Mega Venusaur

I have really come to like mega venusaur, so I decided to build a rather bulky team based around it. I haven't been competitively battling for very long, but I think this team is pretty good. This was written from my phone, so although I have proofread it, autocorrect may still have sabotaged me.
3.png

Gregor Mendel (Venusaur-Mega) (M) @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 232 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power
- Synthesis
I started my team with a mega Venusaur, since it is my favorite mega in OU. It dishes out tons of damage with a great typing both offensively and defensively (with thick fat) I just used the generic OU offensive set from smogon, as it fit what I wanted perfectly.
660.png

KBacon (Mandibuzz) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Foul Play
- U-turn
- Roost
- Defog
I added mandibuzz to kill psychic types that could kill venusaur. Overcoat is a great ability for walls (although possibly a bit redundant with venusaur's grass typing), and I love its defensive bulk. The rocky helmet makes it harder to stall out its roosts and makes it a good switch-in to fake-outs. I used foul play to make it harder to set up against, and I think it does this set more good than knock off. This can switch into lati@s, metagross, and other threats, as well a huge pool of physical attackers. I used it for hazard control, which may not be optimal on a rock-weak mon, but I think it still does its job.
503.png

Wesis (Rotom-Wash) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
I added rotom-w to this team as a flying resist. I already had a talonflame counter in my mandibuzz, but I really wanted to keep venusaur alive. Also, no one wants to punch a washing machine.
113.png

KEichman (Chansey) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Soft-Boiled
- Seismic Toss
- Heal Bell
I already had two physical walls, so I needed a special wall. Since I already had a figthing resist, chansey seemed like a good idea. Thunder wave cripples a lot of threars to my team, making them slower than venusaur.
145.png

Junichi (Zapdos) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 64 Def / 180 SpD / 16 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 Def
- Volt Switch
- Roost
- Hidden Power
- Heat Wave
I felt my team needed a special pivot, and some resistances provided by zapdos. However, I don't zapdos much on this team.
466.png

Eisemoney (Weavile) (M) @ Life Orb Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick
Although it doesn't fit the bulky theme I have been following, I added weavile. It seems to perfectly finish off this team, picking up OHKO on mons I wouldn't want to deal with, such as cresselia.
Thanks for taking the time to RMT. I will greatly appreciate any feedback you give.
If anyone wants to use this team (I don't see any reason you would XD), here is the raw paste:

Hey Hacatu, nice team and welcome to Smogon. I will provide a several suggestions to your team to enhance its effectiveness on the ladder.

Upon reading your RMT, the most glaring weakness I noticed is its susceptibility to opposing Mega Charizard X. This mon can currently set up on numerous members of your team (Rotom-W, Zapdos) and proceed to sweep your team. Mandibuzz shouldn't carry the burden of stopping this threat alone as it is used primarily for utility and will find itself switching in on many things throughout a match, thus wearing it down and preventing her from checking Zard X. To remedy this, I am suggesting we replace Zapdos with defensive Landorus-T . Thanks to Lando-T's natural bulk and access to intimidate, it serves as a phenomenal answer to Mega Zard X aswell as other potent physical sweepers such as Talonflame and Sand Rush Excadrill. It also adds Stealth Rock support to your team which is often regarded as the best move in the game granting you nice chip damage.

Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
IVs: 30 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn

The second suggestion pertains to removing Chansey with a more offensive mon in Clefable. Chansey is too passive and won't be doing all that much to anything once she switches in. Calm Minnd Clefable allows you to provide the same t-wave support that chansey did aswell as doubling as a phenomenal late game cleaner.

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder Wave

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely try out lando immediately, but I'm unsure about using cm clef over chansey, since I have really found heal bell and natural cure to be useful.

If it's the cleric support you liked about chansey on your team, you could always use Unaware clefable with a set consisting of Protect, wish, moonblast, and heal bell. Unaware is a really nice ability that completely ignores your opponent's stat boosts. This allows it to serve as a solid answer to many set-up sweepers in the meta

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature

My team currently: http://pastebin.com/MuAeW9JX
My team is having a lot of issues dealing with zard Y. I have to let either weavile or venu die to kill it. Should I change clef back to chansey, or would it be better to change a different pokemon, such as weavile, that doesn't belong on my team?

I say the way the team started was effective but Instead of RotomW, use Quagsire and replace Mandibuzz's U-Turn with Knock Off and make it mixed defense. Change Venusuar to the mixed defense set. Change Zapdos to physically defensive and give it thunderbolt, roost, heat wave and Toxic. Weavile seems realy odd compared to tje rest of the team's defensive nature so I'll find a replacement later and lastly until I can get on my PC and put in sets fix Chansey's EVs to 12 HP / 248 Def / 248 SpD Bold because Eviolite rounds down to the nearest whole.

Hi,

So I noticed that zapdos and chansey were the pokemon that were holding your team back the most. Chansey is just really passive and zapdos was kind of redundant since you already had a rotom-w and a defogger. So to start off I noticed your weakness to m sableye, m heracross, and that you had no dragon resist. I knew right of the bat that clefable would be great for replacing chansey.

CM clefable still checks kyurem-b and lets your team have something for dragon types since mons like choice banded dragonite and charizard x could run straight through your team without much bother. Clefable also acts as a status absorber who can help your team out with rotom-w. CM clefable gives your team a win condition and allows it to be better suited vs keldeo as venusaur doesnt always want to take a scald burn lol. Clefable also made sure that Weavile could not sweep you without flinching it twice, and took some of the pressure off of venusaur for handling lopunny.

From there I noticed that your team did not have anything for fairy types. Zapdos was not a good pick for this team as you already had rotom-w for birds and you had mandibuzz for defog. Heatran allowed your team to not get swept by clefable while also letting your team have a nice stealth rocker who is more than happy to beat opposing venusaurs and come in on many of venusaurs checks like talonflame, latios, and some tornadus even though you already have a rotom-w to deal with tornadus. Heatran could help handle clefable, Charizard-x and scizor, and heatran had great typing synergy with venusaur.

479w.png

to stop charizard y from getting a free win vs you I suggest you run rindo berry thunder wave rotom-w, It isnt as bad as it sounds, and can help your team paralyze more than just charizard y. It can paralyze lati's on the rotom switch clefables and even help your team vs earthquake charizard x.

630.png

Run 248hp 136def 108spdef 16 speed with taunt
Taunt provides the ability to stop enemies from using status moves, preventing them from boosting their stats, setting up hazards, inflicting status, and healing themselves.
108 EVs are allocated to Special Defense, helping her to better take Sludge Waves from Gengar and mega alakazams' focus blasts. 16 Speed EVs allow Mandibuzz to outrun fully invested Adamant Azumarill and hit it with Foul Play after it sets up a Belly Drum. The remaining EVs go into Defense to help with taking physical hits.Leftovers provides passive health regeneration, which Mandibuzz greatly appreciates.

gl and hope I was helpful
