ORAS OU Mega xZard team

Hey everyone, this is my first RMT in a really long time. This is (in my opinion) the best team I've created since ORAS, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I've climbed to low 1600s with it, which is the best rank I've had since ORAS came out. (Peaking at 1700 in XY pre-Aegi ban). Anyway, without further ado, here's the team:

ditto.gif

Evil Twin (Ditto) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Imposter
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 Def
- Transform
- Transform
- Transform
- Transform

This was the first Pokemon I put on the team because I'd never used a Ditto before, and I thought it'd be a fun revenge killer to try out. Choice Scarf ensures that it's faster than anything non-Scarfed that it switches in on. It's an excellent revenge killer. IVs are so that it has Hidden Power Ice which I find is very common. May change it to Hidden Power Fire for Magnezone.

mamoswine.gif

Cold Bacon (Mamoswine) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard

Next came Mamoswine because I wanted an SR setter that wasn't Garchomp or Heatran (Which I'm getting really sick of). Sash ensures SR is set up or ensures an EQ/Icicle Crash + Ice Shard. EVs are pretty straightforward.

charizard-mega-x.gif

Lizardon (Charizard-Mega-X) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 248 HP / 120 Atk / 140 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Roost
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw

Next I thought hmmmm what benefits from Mamoswine being on the team? Zard X was the answer. Zard X's sweep is stopped by Heatran, Thundurus (Prankster T-wave), and Lando-T, all of which are threatened severely by Mamoswine. It also complements Mamoswine by covering its weakness to grass. Additionally, this Zard set does extremely well against Rotom-W which also threatens Mamo. Zard takes a maximum of 46.7% from Rotom, so unless you get really unlucky, Zard can set up in its face. The speed EVs are to outspeed M-Lopunny at +1. Almost max HP to maximise bulk, and the rest dumped into Attack. Dragon Claw > Outrage because I don't fancy being locked into Outrage, and Flare Blitz > Fire Punch because of higher power and because with the HP EVs, Zard doesn't mind the recoil as much.

azumarill.gif

Pikablu (Azumarill) @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Superpower
- Play Rough
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet

I needed something that resisted Dragon and Fighting (for Zard and Mamo respectively) and Azu's typing synergizes with the other two extremely well. It's insanely strong and can smash through walls like Unaware Clefable (which threatens Zard with Thunder Wave). Superpower > Knock off because I like surprising Ferrothorns that wanna switch in. While I could switch to Zard, the recoil + Iron Barbs + (possible) Rocky Helmet damage would be too much of a pain to deal with. Other moves are fairly straightforward.

rotom-wash.gif

(Sc)Rotom (Rotom-Wash) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

I needed a birdspam counter, and this does a pretty good job of it. Synergizes pretty well with the rest of the team and providing the ground immunity to cover Zard's weakness is great.

scizor.gif

Edward (Scizor) @ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 60 Def / 200 SpD
Impish Nature
- Defog
- Roost
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch

Last but not least, is Scizor. I needed a Defogger to keep Zard safe from Stealth Rocks, as well as keep Mamo's sash intact. Switches into Scarf Latios (Zard check) really well, and uses its Steel typing to provide a vast array of resistances to the team. Slow U-turn is helpful to give Mamo, Zard or Ditto a free switch in which is pretty good for them.

Well, thats the team! Please tell me what you think and if there's anything I need to improve.

Hi there LNH, really cool team you have there however there are a few suggestions I'll like to give to help improve this team :]
  • First off, I realized that your team have a really glaring weakness to strong Electric-types such as Life Orb Thundurus since it can cripple/kill off something in your team every time it comes in. Mamoswine isn't even a switch in since it can be knocked out from a Focus Blast and also, you're using a Focus Sash + Stealth Rock variant meaning it'll usually die off rather early in the game because of that. To help fix this weakness, you may want to consider replacing Ditto to something like an Assault Vest Raikou or Specially Defensive Celebi. The purpose of Celebi in the team would be to provide your team with more switch ins to strong special attackers while being able to absorb status as well before pivoting out with Baton Pass/U-turn which your team really lacks. Celebi also helps to complete the Fire-Water-Grass core in your team too.

  • Secondly, the EV spread on Azumarill may need to be adjusted to have a little more speed. You'll usually want to run at least 84Speed EVs so that you outspeed the standard Clefables so that Play Rough 2HKO them on the switch in. You can also run a little more speed up to 164Speed EVs to outspeed Skarmory and have a decent chance to 2HKO them on the switch in after prior damage.

  • Lastly, you may consider using Pursuit on your Scizor instead as well so as to catch things like Latios and killing them off instead of using U-turn since Rocky Helmet Garchomp is really popular now and Scizor would be weakened way too quickly because of that.

Hope it helps :]

If you do keep Ditto for some reason you should change its IVs to 0 Spe and 31 everything else. This also gives you an Ice-type Hidden Power, but also allows you to beat opposing Ditto in Struggle wars if they aren't aware of these IVs. Not that Struggle wars happen every day (hell, does anybody run into a Ditto war?) but it comes at a totally 0 cost so go for it.

Wouldn't that give me a weaker Hidden Power though?

And Alkov, thanks for the suggestions, I'll try them out. Ditto is working really well for me rn :c but I'll try it w Raikou
