Hi everyone! This is the first competitive battling team I'm posting on the Smogon Forums. This is the team I use on the Battle Simulator, and it seems to work pretty well. It's a very Offensively-oriented team, not including Sylveon and Starmie.

I normally try to keep only one type of Pokemon on my team, but this is one of the exceptions with Metagross and Starmie both being Psychic-types.

Metagross: Psychic/Steel
Sylveon: Fairy
Starmie: Water/Psychic
Gengar: Ghost/Poison
Pangoro: Fighting/Dark
Dragonite: Dragon/Flying

Type: Weakness / Resistance
Normal: 0 / 2
Fighting: 1 / 4
Flying: 1 / 1
Poison: 1 / 2
Ground: 2 / 1
Rock: 1 / 2
Bug: 1 / 3
Ghost: 3 / 1
Steel: 1 / 2
Fire: 1 / 2
Water: 0 / 2
Grass: 1 / 3
Electric: 1 / 0
Psychic: 1 / 3
Ice: 1 / 2
Dragon: 1 / 1
Dark: 3 / 2
Fairy: 2 / 2

"Vibranium" the Metagross
metagross-mega.gif

Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body (Tough Claws)
Nature: Adamant (+Atk / -SpA)
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Meteor Mash / Rock Polish / Zen Headbutt / Ice Punch

Metagross by itself has average stats except for good Attack and Defense; it's Mega Evolution raises it's Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed to a strong 105 and 110, and raises its Attack and Defense to a blistering 145 and 150, respectively. Megagross's incredible bulk and surprisngly good Speed make it a huge threat, especially combined with it's Clear Body/Tough Claws to prevent stat reduction and add 33% damage to all physical attacks. Adamant Nature, 252 Attack EVs and 176 Speed EVs help Megagross outspeed and outpunch most opponents, and Meteor Mash's 30% chance to increase Attack helps a lot as well. A Rock Polish set up will send Megagross's speed into the stratosphere, ensuring its only threats Pokemon bulky enough to take its STAB moves and Ice Punch, most notably Hippowdon and Quagsire.

"Angel" the Sylveon (F)
tumblr_inline_mvab62TwAy1rk1adw.gif

Sylveon @ Babiri Berry
Ability: Pixilate
Nature: Bold (+Def / -Atk)
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Calm Mind / Baton Pass / Substitute / Hyper Voice

Sylveon is the one of the two Defensively-oriented Pokemon on my team, as well as being the Baton Passer. Her Bold Nature, 252 HP EVs and 240 Def EVs buff her defenses, and the Babiri Berry help her live through Supereffective Steel attacks, including Megagross's Meteor Mash, Scizor's +4 Bullet Punch, and Excadrill's Iron Head. Substitute helps with stalling for a turn or two, provided it can be set up, and when paired with Calm Mind and Baton Pass, can help set up Gengar or Starmie's Scald with a potential +6 boost to Special Attack and Special Defense. Pixilate changes Hyper Voice to a Fairy-type move, adding the STAB Bonus to Sylveon's only attacking move.

"Stardust" the Starmie
starmie_by_creepyjellyfish-d7a48y9.gif

Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Nature: Timid (+Spe / -Atk)
EVs: 248 HP / 16 SpD / 244 Spe
Reflect Type / Scald / Rapid Spin / Recover

Starmie here is my Rapid Spinner Wall. Leftovers, 248 HP EVs and Reflect Type allow Starmie to be a good wall, provided Starmie can use Reflect Type to "switch" into a Noneffective attack before the opponent can attack its previous type, aided by its Timid Nature and 244 Speed EVs. Starmie cannot however take many Supereffective attacks at all with its lackluster 60/85/85 defensive spread. Rapid Spin is Starmie's utility move, removing any Spikes/Stealth Rock/Poison Spikes that may be scattered around. Should it be the third option, Starmie can switch back out and cure it's poison status with Natural Cure. Starmie has a pretty decent base Special Attack stat of 100, and its STAB Scald can be spammed to potentially burn the target, halving their physical attacks, which is why Starmie received 16 SpD EVs and not 16 Def EVs.

"Mama Bear" the Pangoro (F)
pangoro.gif

Pangoro @ Life Orb
Ability: Scrappy
Nature: Adamant (+Atk / -SpA)
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spe / 252 Atk
Superpower / Knock Off / Gunk Shot / Parting Shot

Although Pangoro is a BL2-Tier Pokemon, I believe it is versatile enough to be useful within my team. Pangoro here works as an All-Out Attacker, with a typical Adamant / 252 Spe / 252 Atk EV spread. The 252 Speed EVs are in effort to counteract her terrible base 58 Speed stat. Scrappy allows STAB Superpower to hit Ghost-types, while it and STAB Knock Off both hit opponents quite hard. Gunk Shot hits Fairy-type threats, and has a 30% chance to poison the target, which can potentially set up Gengar's Hex. Parting Shot allows Pangoro to switch out while also lowering the opponent's Attack and Special Attack, working instead of a switch-in to Gengar, or setting up teammates like Sylveon and Starmie to come in with less of a threat before them.

"smile.jpg" the Gengar
latest

Gengar @ Big Root
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timid (+Spe / -Atk)
EVs: 8 HP / 248 SpA / 252 Spe
Hex / Dream Eater / Hypnosis / Sludge Wave

This is my custom Gengar setup. In this instance, Gengar's position on the team is a Late Game Sweeper. Timid Nature and 252 Speed EVs help this Gengar tie with Latios and Latias and outspeed threats such as Mega Pinsir, Terrakion and Keldeo, but cannot out outspeed threats such as Weavile, Thundurus-T and Raikou. His speed allows him to attack first in most cases with Hypnosis, and then use either Hex or Dream Eater to take down the opponents. Hypnosis+STAB Hex lands with a monstrous 130 attack power on top of Gengar's base 130 Special Attack and 248. Dream Eater is in case of Normal or Fighting type opponents, such as a Blissey Wall, and with the Big Root raises HP recover to 80%. Sludge Wave provides STAB coverage against pesky Fairy Types.

"Inditeau" the Dragonite (M)
dragonite.gif

Dragonite @ Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale
Nature: Adamant (+Atk / -SpA)
EVs: 216 HP / 64 Atk / 228 SpD
Roost / Dragon Claw / Extremespeed / Fire Punch

Dragonite is my "Bulky Roost" Pokemon; it's decent 91/100/100 defensive spread makes it relatively bulky, and it's powerful 134 base Attack provide huge hitting power. Dragonite's Leftovers and Roost can help get it back to 100% HP, possibly giving multiple uses to its Multiscale Ability. An Adamant Nature and 64 Attack EVs let Draonite take down most opponents with STAB Dragon Claw and Extremespeed. The remaining EVs are split to 216 HP and 228 SpD, helping Dragonite tank a few attacks and prolong his reign. Fire Punch is for coverage, namely Ice-type threats that can land x4 Supereffective STAB attacks.

Hey MrDrumMajor, your team has potential, but it suffers a lot from not having a physical wall or a pivot to take on or soft check a lot of the physical attackers in the tier. Because of this, your team is very vulnerable to physical boosters such as Charizard-X, Feraligatr, M-Scizor, and more. You also lack a Stealth Rock setter, making stuff like Charizard and Talonflame harder to deal with. My rate will try to fix these issues while also trying to give your team more offensive and defensive synergy.

To start it off, your team is very very weak to Life Orb Sand Rush Excadrill which can easily OHKO every Pokemon on your team with a bit of chip damage. So, to check Charizard-X and Sand Rush Excadrill, you should run defensive Landorus-T > Pangoro. Alternatively, you can run Hippowdon instead of Landorus-T, which can check the same Pokemon as Landorus-T, as well as M-Manectric, Thundurus, Raikou, and Bisharp, but it's more of a momentum stopper. Either will provide your team with Stealth Rock, which is great for punishing switches and making Pokemon like Dragonite, Thundurus, Charizard, Volcarona, Talonflame, and etc. be much easier to deal with.

Next, your team is extremely weak to Bisharp and Weavile, as well as both Gyarados formes and Feraligatr, so you should run Keldeo > Sylveon. Frankly, Calm Mind + Baton Pass Sylveon isn't really do much for your team since it lacks a recovery move and can't take full advantage of its bulk to actually check anything. On an offensive build like this, it doesn't really do much for you. Plus your recipients are a defensive Starmie and a Gengar which can only have a boosted Hex on one Pokemon due to Sleep Clause (and Hypnosis doesn't have reliable accuracy at all), so they aren't getting much mileage off of it. Keldeo also helps check Belly Drum Azumarill since it can take a +6 Aqua Jet, and it also can help spread burns with Scald to give Gengar more Pokemon it can potentially hit harder with Hex.

While on the topic of Gengar, there are quite a few issues with your set. Like i mentioned before, Hypnosis has iffy accuracy and can only be used on one Pokemon due to Sleep Clause, which severally limits what you can get to hit with a boosted Hex. Dream Eater isn't STAB, and is a risky move to use since people will generally switch out their sleeping Pokemon to another to not grant a free turn. This makes Dream Eater very very useless, and makes Big Root even more useless. So, you should run a set of Will-O-Wisp / Hex / Substitute / Sludge Bomb on Gengar with Black Sludge. Sludge Wave is only used on Gengar to be able to hit Chesnaught so you won't get fully walled by Bulletproof, but with Subsitute, as well as Will-O-Wisp, Chesnaught can't damage you unless it's a Belly Drum variant, while you can burn it and be able to Hex it or Substitute. Sludge Bomb has a 30% chance to poison, and only 5 BP lower than Sludge Wave, so being able to spread Poison status can help alongside Hex. The spread for Gengar i will leave below will allow it to take a Moonblast from Clefable without getting its Sub broken, as well as avoid its sub from being broken by a burned Assault Vest Tornadus-T's Knock Off, assuming it's Timid.

To help check fast electric types in place of Sylveon, and help support M-Metagross and Dragonite, you should run Latios > Starmie. Latios also acts as a Charizard-Y check, and with Hidden Power Fire it can lure in Scizor and Skarmory and take them down to support your physical attackers. Latios still gets rid of hazards for you, and checks Keldeo, while also providing more offensive presence.

Lastly, onto M-Metagross and Dragonite, I think you should change up their sets a bit. On a build that is this offensive, SpDef Dragonite doesn't really benefit you much. Instead, you should run Dragon Dance Dragonite with Outrage (or Dragon Claw) / Earthquake / Extreme Speed & a Lum Berry > Specially Defensive to provide you with a decent win condition late game. Next, you should run Pursuit > Ice Punch and Hammer Arm > Rock Polish on M-Metagross. Hammer Arm helps you take on Steel types like Ferrothorn and Heatran which otherwise hard walled you, and Pursuit helps get rid of the Latis for Keldeo, and also prevents them from spamming Draco Meteor to chip at you since this is your only check.

Hope i was able to help!

i can just suggest the same that celes pointed out in a really good statement, although i've found another 2 weaknesses.

1. Double-Dance Landorus T/SubSalac Garchomp

both of them can easily set up on the updated lando/hippo versions and then sweep the whole team.
Also, it'd be nice to lure fat chomps or fat landos to allow Mega-Metagross to sweep easier.

Thats why i'd like to change ur uturn/toxic slot to hidden power ice on Landorus.
Its a really cool gimmick and it helps really often since chomp and lando are both used really often.

2.
its not really a weakness, but i'd suggest u to run WoW/Hex/Substitute/FOCUS BLAST on ur Gengar set.
U dont really need sludge bomb for anything besides CM-Clefable and u are able to deal with that by having a Mega-metagross in the team.

thats basically all i've found, the nearly perfect comment above me made it hard to not repeat something :x
