[SET]

Mesprit @ Leftovers / Life Orb
4HP/252Sp.Atk/252Spe/
Timid Nature
move 1: Calm Mind
move 2: Psychic
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Thunderbolt / Hidden Power Fire

Why this set should be on site?

[SET COMMENTS]
-Mesprit’s highly appreciates it’s natural bulk in this set, in which it can set up multiple Calm Minds and sweep
-With it’s 3 hugely diverse moves, it has a very high coverage
-Mesprit’s unnatural high special attack means that it can sweep easily after several Calm Mind boosts

[OPTIONAL CHANGES]
-You can use Hidden Power Fighting over Thunderbolt if you want to counter Blissey and Snorlax

[TEAM OPTIONS]

-Since Blissey and Snorlax wall this set. Machamp is a good teammate for this set.
-Machamp also helps because Tyranitar will wall this set if you don’t have Hidden Power Fighting.

I'm really not sure about this set. Regardless of that, this won't get far if you can't cover Scizor. Hidden Power Fire should be an option with it being weak to both U-turn and Pursuit.

There's already a Calm mind set on site, although it's for UU, I personally don't see why a mention of using this in OU couldn't be made.

Btw, what does this have over Superachi? Jirachi has higher bulk and speed, as well as access to similar moves(only misses out on Ice Beam). Jirachi also isn't pursuit and U-turn weak.

My 2 cents.

Now, Jirachi has a lower base defense and HP, so, unless the follow they standard set and invest the specific defensive amounts, Mesprit will be bulkier, and if they DO do so, then they're speed will be lower due to the lack of investment to speed, and their offensive side would be much weaker.

Scizor doesn't semi-counter this set. It does unless you have HP Fire.

The reason this set isn't that decent is because if you have HP Fire, Tyranitar walls this. If you have HP Fighting, Scizor walls this.

You should probably slash HP Fire with T-bolt, because you have Machamp to deal with Tyranitar, along with the special walls.

I used this set before, and it seemed meh to me, because I kept running into Moveslot syndrome where I couldn't really cover all the things that I wanted to counter. If i got rid of Hp Fighting, I got raped by tyranitar. If i didn't have Hp fire, I got raped by scizor. If I didn't have Thunderbolt, I couldn't get past Starmie and the odd Slowbro. If I didn't have Hp Fighting or ground, I couldn't get past Heatran. Mesprits average speed also let me down on multiple occasions.

This set is countered by a lot if it lacks certain moves. Is there a reason why you are running Ice beam in the set? Although Ice is a great type to have and it handles Hippowdon that may want to roar you out, I think that you can slash thunderbolt with it safely. That way you can deal with phazing/boosting Suicune easier and Electric pairs better with HP Fire (which should be an option in the fourth slot by the way) in my opinion.

This is absolutely not true. According to X-Act's BSR calculator, 100/100/100 defenses is superior to 80/105/105 defenses by a long shot. 80/105/105 has 158 and 156 physical and special bulkiness, respectively, while 100/100/100 has 174 and 171 physical and special bulkiness, respectively. Additionally, 100 base Speed makes its sweepiness much higher as well on both fronts, regardless of Mesprit having +5 SpA over Jirachi (the -20 Spe is brutal). Add into this the fact that Jirachi has the added Steel typing to render it immune to Toxic and neutral to Dark- and Bug-type attacks and this thing is completely outclassed. The only thing that Mesprit has which Jirachi doesn't is Ice Beam, and quite frankly, the fact that Jirachi gets things like Wish and 101 HP Substitutes more than make up for it.

That said, this set appears to be totally ineffective and completely outdone by other Pokemon. I don't think this should go on-site.

Bad typing. Average-Poor defenses . No recovery means 2 cm max. No speed.Nothing really synergises well with this.Yeah this is a bad set for OU. Jirachi does this better. The problem is, mespirt cant take hits and set up fast enough plus you lack the speed to do anything with plus 2.Additionally the top 2 pokemon in OU can come in for free to kill you.

But you also have to admit that this set of moves has more coverage than the Rachi Standard Set, the difference of 5 Sp.atk just contributes a little extra bonus to that.

What additional coverage does it have?? Everything that you'd want to hit with the moves given are hit just as hard with anything Jirachi. The lack of Speed, resistances (pure Psychic sucks), make Jirachi a better candidate in pretty much every circumstance. Can you actually point out a time where this extra 5 SpA or coverage difference actually gets Mesprit important kills that Jirachi doesn't??

No, no one has to admit anything. If you actually tested this, Mesprit does not accomplish anything of note; there is no merit to anything on this set over any of the typical OU Calm Mind users. I grow weary of you trying to pass sets in QC as if it's some form of 'legacy' you're trying to claim; this is not a place for you to post anything you think might work in some way, shape, or form because it gets one move over other Pokemon that run the set better in every other conceivable way.

You need to actually test things before posting them here, and I don't want to hear that you tested this, because from your posts it's quite obvious that you have not. I am sending this on its way. Please feel free to contribute in the future, but for the love of all that is good, do not look for things to post, only post things that are excellent and seriously bring something to the table.

Also, stop posting in this thread a dozen times just to post. If you've made your point, be on your way. C&C is not pc++.
