Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Earthquake
- Grass Knot
I have been messing around with most of the OU megas and haven't really had a chance to try Mega gross yet. It's also something that seems to be pretty important to build around for other teams to prepare for it, so I thought it'd be fun to try and use myself. The role of this pokemon is simply to dent holes in the opponents team or even a late game sweep once faster checks are gone. grass knot is for things that wall this set, like suicune, slowbro, swampert, etc.
Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Wish
- Protect
- Heal Bell
I chose sylveon, as it takes on the role of cleric for my team, especially for mega gross. It also is a lati check, so that my mega doesn't have to switch into it. standard cleric set, nothing too fancy with the moveset. enough SpD to survive 2 earth powers from lando i that aren't running sludge wave.
Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Tail
A few mons that give this team somewhat of a problem so far are Scizor (namely cb), opposing mega gross, and lando t. I also hate dealing with heatran and ferrothorn on any other team, and wanted a mon that could kind of do all of that. This set really helps me achieve this. Stealth rock because hazards are nice for Mega gross, and dragon tail to help rack up damage for it. earthquake + fireblast for heatran and ferro. rocky helmet + rough skin for scizor, mega gross, and lando t. This also is a decent tank in its own right, which i never realized with its base 108hp, 95def, and 85 spd. So with wish support, it walls some other stuff during the game.
Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 56 HP / 252 SpA / 200 Spe
Timid Nature
- Toxic
- Flamethrower
- Taunt
- Earth Power
offensive heatran is nice for things like stallbreaker mew and other will o mons. It also gives me a direct switch into opposing heatran, which i don't already have. taunt air balloon also makes it a decent lead choice, as i can choose between this and chomp for the most part at the beginning of a match. Toxic to hit on the switch for mons i don't like, like keldeo or anything that checks/counters me. Flamethrower because i don't have the balls for fire blast. Earth power to deal with other fire types like heatran (thinking of taking out toxic for flash cannon or stone edge so i don't get walled by other balloon trans and take on fairies or stallbreaker talon)
Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 208 HP / 252 Def / 48 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp
Rotom-w works well as a pivot to the rest of my mons on my team. Helps take on opposing mega gross to a degree, keldeo, azu, and other waters. basic moveset, basic evs, nothing groundbreaking here. Enough spe to outspeed azu and speed creep a bit on other rotoms.
Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Defog
- Roost
This team will need to live for a while since it is kind of slow and needs to rack up damage on the opposing team for mega gross. I thought a fast offensive defogger like Latios would help out a lot for this. Basic moveset for the most part, Roost just to live longer against the opposing team, and to play 50 50 mindgames with bisharp (though this team is usually pretty good with not getting me into that situation somehow) the other moves help me dent the opposing team for metagross.
One pokemon I have actually not run into while testing this was M-Slowbro. As i was typing this, I realized it may be a threat, but I'm not sure yet. I also noticed this team is a bit slow, but It seemed to have been working so far. 1300 rn, lost only 2 games to some weird low ladder teams, but am certainly not high ladder yet. Any suggestions would be greatly apprectiated. (this is my first post on RMT, so my apologies if I overlooked any of the forum rules :])
