Metagross RAAAAGE!!!!!!

Metagross RAAAAGE!!!!!! (a Dual Screen BP team)

I wanted a team that could setup one primary sweeper who could then wreck an opposing team, needing only a couple cleaners if anything at all when it was done. A dual screen BP combo seemed like the way to go to accomplish this, so i went ahead and threw together this team.

The team:

Aerodactyl (M) @ Focus Sash

gsback142.png

Ability: Pressure
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Taunt
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Stealth Rock

Stealth rock is extremely vital to the team's success. I need no focus sash users to be remaining when I am done and aerodactyl seemed like the best way to do this, since it is nearly impossible to prevent it from getting rocks down. I chose Rock Slide over Stone Edge because the small chance of flinchax has proven useful in the past.

Uxie @ Light Clay

480.png

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/6 Def/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Memento
- U-turn

After Aerodactyl bites the dust, i usually send in Uxie, barring the opponent having a taunt user currently on the field. Assuming all goes well, i use reflect, light screen, then memento.... if im taunted before i can use memento, u-turn provides an alternative method to get my Gliscor in safely. While Uxie certainly can dual screen more than once, i typically go straight for the win if i see an opportunity and use memento on his first go unless conditions are pretty bad. Jolly nature was chosen over a bulkier spread because it allows it to, at the very least, speed tie with gliscor trying to shut it down with taunt.

Gliscor (M) @ Yache Berry

472.png

Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 HP/184 Spd/74 SDef | IVs: 0 Atk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Taunt
- Swords Dance
- Rock Polish
- Baton Pass

After Uxie puts dual screens and memento in place, gliscor is taking 1/4 the damage he normally does (unless the opponent switchs out, but by that point i have rock polished and am faster than anything they could realistically send out). Yache berry provides defense against strong ice type attacks and helps extend his staying power. Taunt is ofc absolutely necessary, otherwise trick, taunt, and whirlwind/roar users will have their way with gliscor. I usually rock polish once, then swords dance up to three times, passing to Metagross once Gliscor's health dips under 40-50%. EVs may seem odd, but they maximize bulkiness while allowing gliscor to outrun a scarf starmie after a single rock polish, realistically the fastest scarf user he will have to face (Azelf will likely have dumped its scarf on my Aerodactyl).

Dragonite (F) @ Lum Berry
gsback149.png

Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 30 HP/252 Atk/228 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance

DDnite replaced Weavile's slot on my team, and he has not disappointed. His primary use comes into play when a heatran is fire blast spamming Gliscor, giving me a safer switch in over metagross... who CAN survive with light screen up, but is severely weakened. Dragonite also serves as a late game sweeper coming into its greatest usefulness after Metagross and/or Scizor has been killed by a fire type move. Dragonite's Bulk allows him to survive Scizor's bullet punch much more easily than Salamence could, as only two entries into stealth rock will place him in KO range.

Scizor (M) @ Life Orb
gsback212.png

Ability: Technician
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Brick Break
- Swords Dance

Choice Band Scizor was great (as always) but didnt quite fit my teams purpose, so he was replaced with Swords Dance Scizor. Not only does it provide me yet another baton pass recipient, if gliscor is forced to pass with only a rock polish under its belt, Scizor can step in and boost itself (while resisting and being neutral to two of Gliscor's primary weaknesses) with Swords Dance. Aside from that, very standard SD Scizor.

Metagross @ Lum Berry

rsback376.png

Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Zen Headbutt
- Earthquake
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Punch

Metagross is my primary sweeper, and after a +2-6 atk and +2 spd from Gliscor, he can tear apart most teams by himself. His bulk helps him switch in even under strong attacks while the coverage provided by his moves is only resisted by Shedinja, who is taken care of by the Stealth Rock placed by my Aerodactyl. Lum Berry was chosen over Life Orb because Metagross is often slammed by multiple priority attacks as well as a status move, so the lack of recoil and one time immunity to status is much more useful to contribute to his survivability. Lum berry also makes switches into Dynamicpunch spamming Machamp a lot less of a pain.

Thanks for taking the time to read my team, please give a rate! Constructive criticism is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS welcome, just dont post stupid things like "lololol this team sucks" as that doesnt help AT ALL. Thanks again!

Hello,

I got your PM, sorry for being so late, so now I'll try to help.
Dual Screen-BP Gliscor to Metagross; I must say I really like this kind of team although it is often considered noobish and not competitive. Well, this is absolutely not true. It is true that many newbies use such teams but to optimize it and use it to good success is absolutely possible but certainly not achieveble for newcomers. Well, onto the rate.

The basic structure of your team (fast SR lead, Screener, BP Gliscor, Recipient Metagross, Pursuiter and Late game cleaner) is absolutely fine. However this idea is not realized perfectly for there are better options in some of your team- or moveslots. These I will try to point out.

Lead: Aerodactyl: Good lead. Nothing to change here.

Dual Screener: Here I would change something. There are two options that will work in this slot, then you'll have to choose/test what's better.
a) Keep Uxie but use an EV spread of 252HP, 252Spe, 4Def. Uxie's decent speed is often overlooked. It actually outruns most Gliscor, Gyarados and other threats that like to Taunt it. So you'll still be able to make one more move, which will often be the 2nd Screen. Behind such fast Screens you won't have to fear the loss of bulk, indeed you will want to sacrifice Uxie through Memento anyway, so the bulk is really wasted. The moves you use are okay, but tbh U-Turn is not really needed as Memento will be your escape move of choice. Uxie can use Magic Coat but from personal expierience I can tell that it unfortunately does not bounce back Taunt on Shoddy (although I'm pretty sure that it does in game, at least in the DP generation iirc... correct me if I'm wrong). So it's still worth a mention.
b) Drop Uxie for Screen Azelf. You will lose tons of bulk but Azelf will nevertheless still be able to set up both Screens reliably. The main advantage is its speed and Taunt, which will allow you to block any attempts to taunt Azelf as well as any other annoying non-attacking moves. The drawback (if it is one) is the fact that you will have to use Explosion instead of Memento to get Gliscor in safely.
As I said it's really matter of preference. So use what suits you best.

Baton Passer: Gliscor is clearly the best one. But I wouldn't run max speed. 60 Speed EVs will suffice to outrun Gyarados before and Scarf Gengar and Latias after Rock Polish. So it's enough to prevent them from Tricking you. Then you can bump the rest into Special Defense, which will greatly help Gliscor set up enough SDs.

BP Reciever: Metagross: Well it is a really difficult choice what set to use here. What I mainly used was this:
Metagross@Life Orb
Adamant-252Atk, 252Spe, 4Def
-Earthquake
-Bullet Punch
-Ice Punch
-Thunderpunch
From my expierience I can tell that you will mostly be able to get in 1 Rock Polish and 2 SDs. At those boosts this Metagross ohko everything but the following threats of OU: Scarf Jirachi, Scarf Infernape, Scarf Starmie, some Bronzong, defensive Rotom. Your set will fail to ohko Swampert, Suicune, all Bronzong, Hippowdon and most importantly it will be outsped and killed/crippled by Every Single Scarf User with minimum 95 base speed in OU. I always thought Life Orb and Bullet Punch neccessary for exactly these purposes. So maybe you should try it yourself.

Late game cleaner: Here Weavile is not the best choice, and also as your secondary Baton Pass target it's not good due to its weakness to priority moves. I would use Dragonite in this slot for several reasons. First, it complements Meta's weaknesses very well and therefore can be a great secondary BP Recipient. Second, it can still be a great Late game sweeper with Dragon Dance. The reason why i chose it over Salamence is its bulk. The speed is enough to outrun everything at +2 and the special attack is also not needed at all, which makes it the better candidate imo.
Dragonite@Lum Berry
Adamant-252Atk, 228, 28HP
-Dragon Claw
-Fire Punch
-Earthquake
-Dragon Dance
Lum Berry to take random Status, especially Machamp's Dynamicpunch on the switch in.

Pursuiter: Scizor. I think Scizor is great but you should definitely at least try Scarf Tyranitar here. Its sand storm will greatly help Gliscor set up more SDs and 5/6 of your team is immune to it. But Scizor is still absolutely okay.

Hope this helped. Good Luck !

Team updated, Uxie's EVs optimized (moveset unchanged), Gliscor EVs optimized (moveset unchanged), Choice Band Scizor changed into Swords Dance Scizor, Weavile replaced by DDnite (the one in Aircraft Cemetery's post). Aerodactyl and Metagross remain unchanged.

lololol this team sucks... only joking anyway this team would definitely be better with tyranitar setting up sandstorm but the only problm i see is that you dont have a special attacker at all which is okay for your team strategy but i just wanted to point it out and maybe since youve got choice band on scizor you should go for a jolly nature instead

er I fixxed that.... got a life orb on scizor.... as for ttar, dunno where it would fit... I've had little trouble with physical walls like hippowdon and skarmory due to having a supereffective move for each
