Albeit far from its heyday as a dominant force in DPP OU, Metagross currently has a respectable niche in USUM UU, with several sets having unique qualities that allow Metagross to fit several valuable and varied roles. Being hindered by both low speed and steel being a poor offensive typing, exacerbated by a meta rife with bulky waters, steels, and ground types, ultimately prevents Metagross from being a dominant offensive threat, yet it’s far from unviable. Metagross serves as arguably the best Latias counter in the tier and a respectable offensive Stealth Rock setter, with its dedicated offensive sets also having the ability to wallbreak, trap certain Pokemon, and even sweep opposing teams.
