move 3: Earthquake / Zen Headbutt
move 4: Toxic
item: Eviolite
ability: Clear Body
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 HP / 128 Atk / 128 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Metang acts as a tank and entry hazard setter in the NFE metagame through its unique Psychic- and Steel-type, good defensive stats, and offensive coverage allowing it to check Psychic-types such as Galarian Mr. Mime, and Kadabra. Meteor Mash is Metang's main STAB hitting the majority of the metagame including other Stealth Rock setters like Clefairy and Piloswine while having a chance of boosting its attack stat. Earthquake is the main coverage move allowing Metang to hit Fire- and Electric-types such as Magmar, Raboot, and Electabuzz who try to switch in, while Zen Headbutt is used for Poison- and Fighting-types like Golbat and Gurdurr. Toxic allows Metang to cripple threats it can't pressure out like Gabite, Marshtomp, and Tangela. The current spread enables Metang to reliably check Life Orb Kadabra and Choice Specs Galarian Mr. Mime whilst having an offensive presence, however, it can also opt for a faster spread in 252 HP / 8 Atk / 32 SpD / 216 Spe allowing it to outspeed threats like Flame Orb Machoke, Choice Band Lairon, Tangela, and Vullaby while still checking non Choice Specs Galarian Mr. Mime.

During the early- to mid-game, Metang should use its defensive typing to force switches in order to set up Stealth Rock and spread status through Toxic on the opponent's team, however it should be wary of opposing Hattrem as it can bounce back entry hazard. Pivots like Galarian Linoone, Pikachu, and Thwackey can easily play around with those attributes in pressuring out opposing threats and chipping them down repetitively. Galarian Linoone and Thwackey can abuse their Taunt in preventing hazard removers like Vullaby or Togetic from using Defog or Roost. On top of this Thwackey can also be used as a check to Ground-types like Krokorok, Piloswine, and Gabite which Metang is quite passive against. Water-types like Wartortle, Marshtomp and Mareanie can support Metang by being switch-ins to Fire-types like Magmar, Raboot, and Combusken. Wartortle can also provide the team with entry hazard removal by utilizing Rapid Spin while Mareanie can be used as an entry hazard setter through Toxic Spikes.

Other Options
=============

Metang can also utilize Bullet Punch in exchange with Toxic to secure KOs. Explosion is another option for a high damage attack, providing momentum by blocking Defog users or other threats. An offensive variant in Choice Band is useable however Metang does suffer by being choice locked as none of its attacks can be reliably spammed, the tier also counts better physical wallbreakers including Raboot, Gurdurr, and Thwackey.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground Types**: Piloswine, Marshtomp, Gabite, and Krokorok can generally switch into Metang and threaten it out with their STAB attacks.

**Fire Types**: Fire-types like Magmar, Raboot, and Combusken can easily OHKO Metang, however they all are threatened out by Earthquake.

**Hattrem**: Physically Defensive Hattrem cares very little about what Metang can do as it blocks it from setting up entry hazards and Toxic while wearing Metang down with Mystical Fire.

**Knock Off users**: Without its Eviolite, Metang lacks the bulk to act as a Tank making Knock Off users like Galarian Linoone, Tangela, Ferroseed, Gurdurr, and Thwackey threats to think twice on about before staying in or switching in.

During the early- to mid-game, Metang should be played early to mid-game use its defensive typing to force switches in order to set up Stealth Rock and spread status through Toxic on the opponent's team. (Maybe I made this sentence a bit too long and wordy and you can split it up somehow. Since you have a section for checks and counters on Hattrem alone, I'd also add that it should avoid using Stealth Rock until Hattrem has been removed (toxic isn't as bad since it's Steel-type) but rather use attacks to wear it down and link it to the next sentence where the pivots with Knock Off can pressure Hattrem) Pivots like Galarian Linoone, Pikachu, and Thwackey can easily play around with those attributes in pressuring out opposing threats and chipping them down repetitively. **Fire Types**: Fire-types like Magmar, Raboot, and Combusken can easily OHKO Metang, however they all are threatened out by Earthquake and Zen Headbutt in the case of Combusken (I understand this additional note since Zen Headbutt is a slash but this still seems like it's a bit out of place since Combusken doesnt like EQ, personally I'd remove it or maybe you can rephrase it so it says that both the coverage move options threaten busken out).

**Hattrem**: Physically Defensive Hattrem cares very little about what Metang can do as it blocks it from setting up entry hazards and Toxic while getting worn down by (this sounds like Hattrem is the one which gets worn down by M Fire, since while is referring to the subject atm) wearing Metang down with Mystical Fire.

**Knock Off users**: Without its Eviolite, Metang becomes passive and (losing Eviolite has nothing to do with its passivity) lacks the bulk to act as a Tank making Knock Off users like Galarian Linoone, Tangela, Ferroseed, Gurdurr, and Thwackey threats to think twice on about before staying in or switching in.

"hitting the majority of the metagame" is a bit of an overstatement imo, it only hits a handful of relevant pokemon (and doesn't 2HKO Pilo with the new spread). Tie this sentence into the one that came before it, focus on how it hits Gime and Kadabra and add Fairy-types like Clefairy and Morgrem if you want more examples.
Earthquake is the main coverage move allowing Metang to hit Fire- and Electric-types such as Magmar, Raboot, and Electabuzz who try to switch in, while Zen Headbutt is can be used for Poison- and Fighting-types to prevent Defog users like Golbat and Gurdurr from freely switching in. Mime. New spread avoids a 2HKO from Choice Specs Shadow Ball from Gr. Gime and has enough attack investment to reliably take it (and Kadabra etc.) out with Meteor Mash in return. Note that more SpDef investment can be used to better answer Kadabra, but that the loss of power makes you notably weaker and means you can't OHKO LO Kadabra or 2HKO Eviolite variants of Magmar, Ebuzz etc. with EQ.

During the early- to mid-game, Metang should use its defensive typing to force switches in order to set up Stealth Rock and spread status through Toxic on the opponent's team, however it should be wary of opposing Hattrem as it can bounce back entry hazard Stealth Rock. Pivots like Galarian Linoone, Pikachu, and Thwackey can easily play around with those attributes in pressuring out opposing threats and chipping them down repetitively im not sure what this sentence means or how metang benefits/is punished by it tbh, needs a rewrite to better clarify. if this is relating to hattrem you either need to remove "opposing threats" or mention those threats and say how metang can benefit from it. Galarian Linoone and Thwackey can abuse their Taunt in preventing to prevent hazard removers like Vullaby or Togetic from using Defog or Roost. i get what you're going for here but i think it's a stretch to suggest you can consistently put ginoone or thwackey in a position to deny defog. id prefer it if you talked about pokemon that could benefit from getting free switchins into those defog users, e.g. electabuzz, cb piloswine On top of this Thwackey can also be used as a check to Ground-types like Krokorok, Piloswine, and Gabite which Metang is quite passive against. Water-types like Wartortle, Marshtomp and Mareanie can support Metang by being switch-ins to Fire-types like Magmar, Raboot, and Combusken good line, replace combusken with lampent in light of it dropping below B- though. Wartortle can also provide the team with entry hazard removal by utilizing Rapid Spin while Mareanie can be used as an entry hazard setter through Toxic Spikes. something like "can help further spread status" is better here; toxic spikes aren't as globally useful as rapid spin, tie it back to metang's goal (that largely being spread toxic).

Metang can also utilize Bullet Punch in exchange with Toxic to secure KOs. Explosion is another option for a high damage attack, providing momentum by blocking Defog users or other threats. i don't think this is viable enough to mention here, especially with gurdurr being the only relevant defogger you outspeed. An offensive variant in Choice Band is useable however Metang does suffer by being choice locked as none of its attacks can be reliably spammed, the tier also counts better physical wallbreakers including Raboot, Gurdurr, and Thwackey.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground Types**: Piloswine, Marshtomp, Gabite, and Krokorok can generally switch into Metang and threaten it out with their STAB attacks.
piloswine is shaky enough for me to say it's probably best not included here

**Fire Types**: Fire-types like Magmar, Raboot, and Combusken can easily OHKO Metang, however they all are threatened out by Earthquake.
none of these pokemon are able to OHKO metang without a choice item. would like a note of "after minimal chip" or a mention of those choice items otherwise. also, they aren't threatened out by earthquake, they just aren't able to switch in. "threatened out" suggests metang forces them to switch out

**Hattrem**: Physically Defensive Hattrem cares very little about what Metang can do as it blocks it from setting up entry hazards and Toxic while wearing Metang down with Mystical Fire.

**Knock Off users**: Without its Eviolite, Metang lacks the bulk to act as a Tank making Knock Off users like Galarian Linoone, Tangela, Ferroseed, Gurdurr, and Thwackey threats to think twice on about before staying in or switching in.

as discussed on the qc server i'm marking this as 1/2 because of the spread change and the particularly long stretch of time since the last check making it largely outdated.

Metang acts as a tank and entry hazard setter in the NFE metagame through its unique Psychic- and Steel-type typing, good defensive stats, and offensive coverage, (AC) allowing it to check Psychic-types such as Galarian Mr. Mime, and Kadabra. Meteor Mash is Metang's main STAB, (AC) hitting the majority of the metagame including Stealth Rock setters like Clefairy and Piloswine for super effective damage while having a chance of boosting its attack Attack capitalize stat. Earthquake is the its main coverage move, (AC) allowing Metang to hit Fire- and Electric-types such as Magmar, Raboot, and Electabuzz who try to switch in, while Zen Headbutt is used for Poison- and Fighting-types like Golbat and Gurdurr. Toxic allows Metang to cripple threats it can't pressure out like Gabite, Marshtomp, and Tangela. The current spread enables Metang to reliably check Life Orb Kadabra and Choice Specs Galarian Mr. Mime whilst having an offensive presence This spread is outdated from Kadabra and G-Mime’s bans, however, it can also opt for a faster spread in 252 HP / 8 Atk / 32 SpD / 216 Spe allowing it to outspeed threats like Flame Orb Machoke, Choice Band Lairon, Tangela, and Vullaby while still checking non Choice Specs Galarian Mr. Mime.

Metang can also utilize Bullet Punch in exchange with Toxic to secure KOs. Explosion is another option for a high damage attack fluff for hyper offensive build, providing momentum by blocking Defog users or other threats. An offensive variant in Choice Band is useable; (Add semicolon) however, (AC) Metang does suffer suffers from by being choice-locked (Add dash) as none of its attacks can be reliably spammed, the tier also counts better physical wallbreakers including Raboot, Gurdurr, and Thwackey since it takes away its tanking capabilities and makes it much more prediction reliant when attacking the foe. Phrasing makes it easier to read in my opinion.
