Metroid Prime Hunters

Wonder why there isn't already a thread for this lol. I assume if you're on Smogon, you like Pokemon, and if you like Pokemon, you have a DS, and if you have a DS, you also have Metroid Prime Hunters. If not, then god dammit you'd better run out and get it! GO!

Use this thread to set up matches online and discuss the game in general.

I will do my best to keep the OP updated with a list of fcs as they are posted.

Ahaha I used to play the shit out of this game back in the year it came out, I mained Sylux and had a damn good shock coil (was one of the top 15 on GameFAQS). Unfortunately I just... stopped playing, heh.

This was a great game, i was thinking about it today oddly enough. I was in a clan of sorts we used to do clan battles all the time, there was a very good community for this game back a few years, its died out since then, i'm sure by now the hacks must be out of control, not that they weren't when I was actually playing.

Anyways I mained weavel and sometimes Sylux when being weavel got a little to annoying.

There are a fair few hackers out there, but most of the time it's just people using invincibility codes, and you're likely to encounter them maybe 1 in 5 matches. Though I did have a pretty annoying 4 player match where I fought an invincible Sylux and Weavel in the same round. Luckily, we were on Oubliette, and I was playing as Trace, so I could just jump into alt form and abuse my immunity to the Omega Cannon explosions.
By the end of the match, the one player who wasn't immune to Omega Cannon fire had died 14 times while nobody else died even once, it was horrible...
But this is all just from my experience in the general online mode, not sure how it goes in the leftover Hunters communities out there.

Oh yeah, I dual main Samus and Trace. I never really liked playing as Sylux, despite all the cool stuff he can do with his Lockjaw.

Lockjaw's mobility is honestly one of the reasons I love it so much, not to mention all sorts of the amazing traps you can catch stupid players with.

My problem with MP: Hunters was that eventually what happened with the game was that it became a "jump around while trying to snipe someone's head" fest when it was a 1 vs. 1 match; even if I could get a decent lock with a shock coil, people would often quickly go to their alt form, and then come back and try to imp me. =/ While I like the idea of the sniper rifle, I thought it was just a little too abusable for close-range play.

This was an absolutely amazing game, by far my favourite DS game. I clocked up over 2000 hours on it...:x. I played in clans (and am still in a popular gaming group which used to play Metroid Prime Hunters as a rec).

Sylux was basically good because of the Lockjaw. Shock Coil was probably the best method of healing on small maps such as Sanctorus and Combat Hall (but Sylux sucks at Combat Hall, anyway). Lockjaw was useful for running on Alinos Perch.

I agree, when MP:H first came out it was an Imp fest. But in all honesty as it went on players such as eXc355umTEC (I too am in TEC), and Perfect_Edge, found more and more cool weapons which were hugely viable (namely the Volt Driver, Magmaul, and Judicator).

The problem with the Imp on WiFi was trying to find player's lag spot...some days you could hit them for a 7-0, and the exact opposite would happen the next day.
Here's an example of the Volt Driver being used to its fullest.

Samus is a great character...Morph Ball does a tonfuck of damage if you time it right. Triskelion isn't hugely superb, but useful. Spire plain sucks. Noxus is cool, especially for Shadow Freezing which was pretty much allowed in matches (unless specifically asked).

In all honesty I love this game, and always will. It's the game that got me into playing WiFi, and which led to me playing other games on WiFi (read: Pokémon). This game is truly amazing!

However, I quit playing about 6 months ago. I played the game hugely, and it was time to pack it in.
