Midnight Stronghold

This is my first RMT for 5th Gen Dream World. I'm not going to go through the process, but I just brought my fav UU pokemon and added nattorei because it looks awesome.

Without further ado, I present to you Midnight Stronghold:

Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Levitate
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Fire Punch
-Earthquake
-Outrage
-U-Turn

Flygon is the central pivot. Easily counters nattorei, metagross, and skarmory leads. The adamant nature really helps deal some of that extra damage and can at least 2HKO specially defensive leads. As long as I'm weary, I can nab an early KO with flygon. In addition, I can use it as a pivot midgame and as a sweeper late game.

Jynx @ Choice Scarf
Dry Skin
252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
-Ice Beam
-Psychic
-Psycho Shock
-Lovely Kiss

Jynx is mainly a water absorber. A great counter for boil over abusers, jynx can easily put them to sleep as well as sweep. Some people are caught off guard by a fast ice beamer and that's where jynx comes in. Psycho Shock is mainly there to counter special walls. One of my better counters to strong ice pokemon and dragons.

rankurusu.png

Rankurusu @ Life Orb
Magic Guard
252 HP / 200 SpA / 56 Def
Modest Nature
-Recover
-Calm Mind
-Psychic
-Thunder

Rankurusu finds its way to set up almost every match, thanks to its bulk. Magic Guard means it can pack the extra punch of life orb without taking damage from entry hazards and recoil. It doubles as a status absorber, not worrying about the likes of burn, poison, and leech seed. As someone who dreads rain dance teams (especially with politoed lurking on every other team), thunder packs a nice surprise with some bonus from parahax. This is mainly a pivot pokemon, forcing switches without doing too much unless it gets set up with a couple of CMs. It's downfall is its poor speed, but I could care less about it. However, I would like to point out that Rankurusu seems to be the one pulling the least amount of weight and so I might switch it out.

Gliscor.png

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Poison Heal
252 Atk / 236 Spe / 20 HP
Adamant Nature
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake
-X-Scissor
-Poison Jab

Gliscor is the defensive tank (as long as it isn’t super effective). I’m considering putting more EVs into HP and def so that it’ll tank better, but I like the nice speed it has right now (which is to outspeed up to positive base 80s). It OHKO most Doryuuzu with EQ and its ability to deal many 2HKOs while not taking too many 2HKOs from even special attackers (ice beam is the exception). Gliscor is also the status absorber and almost always a reliable switch in, except from flygon. I’m thinking about switching poison jab for roost, as the immediate recovery might provide more benefits than a surprise against the rare shaymin. Even so, X-Scissor does almost as good of a job without a chance of poisoning, which probably won’t do too much anyways.

erufuun_lineart_1_by_michy123-d33e9eu.png

Erufuun @ Leftovers
Mischievous Heart
252 HP / 200 SpD / 56 Def
Bold Nature
-Leech Seed
-Toxic
-Protect
-Substitute

This is the most annoying pokemon on my team. Its bulk means that I have a shot at putting leech seed or toxic on the opponent. If the opponent is non-steel and non-grass, erufuun wins hands down. Nattorei is erufuun’s worst enemy, as this set has no way to attack back. Taunt destroys this erufuun too. However, it can take down most offensive pokemon, thanks to mischievous heart, which allows it to move first in its speed tier as long as the move isn’t an attack move, as this set is entirely support moves. The HP gain usually helps Rankurusu set up, but I can just as easily stall with erufuun until the opponent faints. However, recovery moves on the opponent are annoying, and usually I switch to flygon or typhlosion to finish them off, which brings me to the next pokemon.

typhlosion.png

Typhlosion @ Choice Specs
Flash Fire
252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Timid Nature
-Eruption
-Overheat
-Focus Blast
-Hidden Power [Grass]

Typhlosion deals the most damage of any pokemon on this entire team. Flash fire eruption OHKOs all non-flash fire shandera. Eruption can frequently 2HKO even water-type walls such as vaporeon, as long as they’re not super specially defensive. Flash fire means that typhlosion doubles as my fire attack absorber, which is good for erufuun. Focus Blast is actually for nattorei, because too many of them switch into heatran, which packs a nasty surprise. Even if they don’t switch, focus blast hits super effectively, but relies on the shaky accuracy. HP grass hits unsuspecting swamperts and vaporeons, but those are usually in cases where I have one or no other pokemon, or on a double switch.

That’s about it. Each pokemon has a purpose, and they work surprisingly well together. There are no specific counters that totally wall this team (that I have encountered). I welcome any sets that might be better as well as a decent replacement for Rankurusu, but has to fulfill a similar role.

If your sticking w/ OU (which I assume you are b/c of Natt Rank, and Erefuun) then you should deff. switch Flygon to Sazandora. Does similar job but hits way harder, and I'm an adamant Flygon fan but facts are facts. Also my personal fave water absorber is Tpunch Toxicroak. Give it sucker punch for priority and it will OHKO any shandy's that think they can trap you.

Poison Jab isn't that great an option compared to Aerial Ace in terms of coverage and power. It allows you to KO Breloom as well. On the other hand you can replace Poison Jab with Swords Dance for an unconventional sweepy Gliscor

Redjar, I value a bit of status. The quick lovely kiss can incapacitate a strong pokemon that may not be KO'd by sucker. I'll try roost and SD to see how well it goes. I'm anticipating SD to go over extremely well. Forgot about that.
