Milotic's great pure Water typing along with good mixed bulk allows it to serve as a good answer to threats such as Golurk, Inteleon, and Rhyperior while providing momentum for offensive teams with Flip Turn. However, common threats like Dragalge, Toxicroak, and Virizion can threaten Milotic out for free turns, though the latter must be wary of Toxic or a potential Scald burn. Flip Turn allows Milotic to bring in a teammate for free and prevents it from being a momentum drain on more offensive teams. Alternatively, Haze allows Milotic to take on set-up sweepers such as Sigilyph and Galarian Slowbro, but Milotic is rather passive and easy to exploit without Flip Turn. Toxic lets Milotic punish Pokemon that would otherwise switch in on it for free such as Seismitoad, Mantine, and Virizion. Ice Beam is an option to hit Grass-types, Dragalge, and Goodra, but Milotic without Toxic cannot punish Seismitoad and Mantine. Heavy-Duty Boots is an option over Leftovers to avoid chip from entry hazards and better utilize Flip Turn at the cost of passive recovery. 48 Speed EVs allows Milotic to outspeed Adamant Golurk.

Dragalge is one of the biggest issues for Milotic, as it can switch into all of its moves with ease and use it for free turns. Copperajah can check Dragalge for Milotic. In exchange, Milotic can check Fire- and Ground-types such as Arcanine and Rhyperior. Other Steel-types such as Steelix and Bronzong also have great defensive synergy with Milotic. Dragalge and Goodra can check Virizion and Vileplume respectively— both can also check Electric-types and appreciate having a Flip Turn teammate. Galarian Slowbro is an excellent partner for its ability to pivot in on Vileplume and Virizion, the former of which fears nothing from Milotic, as well as Bewear and, if Galarian Slowbro is itemless, Dhelmise. Salazzle appreciates Milotic being able to bring it in via Flip Turn on Grass-types. Choice Scarf users such as Drapion and Passimian can threaten Pokemon such as Sigilyph and Scrafty, which can take advantage of Milotic without Haze.

Milotic's great pure Water typing along with good mixed bulk allows it to serve as a good answer to threats such as Golurk, Inteleon, and Rhyperior while providing momentum for offensive teams with Flip Turn. Additionally, Marvel Scale lets Milotic to take advantage of a potential burn or poison, allowing it to serve as a more reliable check to Copperajah and Passimian. However, Milotic is especially vulnerable to Toxic poison from the likes of Salazzle and Bronzong, putting it on a timer and greatly limiting its defensive capabilities. [im unsure whether the purple section is necessary; pretty contradictory message, and idt marvel scale is really that big a part of its niche.] However, Common threats like Dragalge, Toxicroak, and Virizion can also threaten Milotic out and use it for free turns, though the latter must be wary of Toxic or a potential Scald burn. Flip Turn allows Milotic to bring in a teammate for free and prevent it from being a momentum drain on more offensive teams. Alternatively, Haze allows Milotic to take on set-up sweepers such as Sigilyph and Galarian Slowbro, but Milotic is rather passive and easy to exploit without being able to pivot out via Flip Turn. Toxic lets Milotic punish Pokemon such as Seismitoad, Mantine, and Virizion that would otherwise switch in on it for free. Heavy-Duty Boots is an option over Leftovers to avoid chip from entry hazards and better utilize Flip Turn at the cost of passive recovery. 48 Speed EVs allows Milotic to outspeed Adamant Golurk. [maybe mention ice beam for dragalge + grasses somewhere? you only 3hko dragalge, but since you are faster it can be useful - limits it to just 1 switch-in vs you].

Dragalge is one of the biggest issues for Milotic, as it can switch into all of its moves with ease and use it for free turns. Copperajah can check Dragalge for Milotic, and threaten Bronzong with a potential Heat Crash. [unclear where this comes from, not relevant enough to milotic's role] In exchange, Milotic can check Fire- and Ground-types such as Arcanine and Rhyperior. Other Steel-types such as Steelix and Bronzong also have great defensive synergy with Milotic. Galarian Slowbro is an excellent partner for its ability to pivot in on Vileplume and Virizion, the former of which fears nothing from Milotic, as well as Bewear and, if Galarian Slowbro is itemless, Dhelmise. No item Galarian Slowbro can also deal with Dhelmise. (just condensing this) Silvally-Fairy can check Scrafty, which would otherwise exploit Milotic to set up with Dragon Dance or Bulk Up. (ehh idk if Scrafty is big enough for silv-fairy to deserve its own mention, esp since it compounds the dragalge problem). Salazzle appreciates Milotic being able to bring it in via Flip Turn on Grass-types. Dragalge and Goodra can check Virizion and Vileplume respectively— both can also check Electric-types and appreciate having a free switch in. [Emphasize Dragalge and Goodra more (move this earlier in the paragraph); it's super important to talk about how Milo can give them opportunities against grasses and bulky waters]. Choice Scarf users such as Drapion and Passimian can threaten Pokemon such as Sigilyph and Scrafty that can take advantage of Milotic without Haze.
