mIRC help

im not quite sure if this is the right place to post this topic about so please tell me if its not and i will gladly move to the appropriate forum, but i do need some help registering into the mIRC smogon channel as i cannot join it without registering.
im probobly doing something wrong but im not quite sure what it is. whenever ive typed in /nickname register password e-mail all it says is unknown command...could somebody please help out?

In the future, please check out the mIRC help article. You're using the wrong command.

#smogon has put up a small security measure to prevent bots from flooding the channel. So, when you try to join #smogon, it will not let you join until you have registered a nickname. To register a nickname, type /ns register password e-mail. password is a five letter or more case sensitive password. e-mail is a legitimate e-mail address. If a nickname is already registered, you must choose a different nickname to register.
