do you nu guys like anime girls in the analysis
because im putting one in anyways : >

[OVERVIEW]

  • Excellent spinblocker thanks to its Ghost-typing with Taunt to prevent potential Defog, assuring that hazards will stay up on the opponent's side
  • Access to a very wide support movepool including Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, and Memento, which lends itself to becoming a potent stallbreaker on balance and offensive teams
  • High speed stat that outpaces threats such as Charizard and Jynx
  • Immunities to Ground, Fighting, and Normal-type attacks
  • Low HP and Defense stats leave it hard-pressed to take most physical moves
  • Weak to the very common Dark-type, leaving it vulnerable to powerful attacks from Pokemon such as Shiftry and the ubiquitous coverage move Knock Off

[SET]
name: Stallbreaker

move 2: Will-O-Wisp
move 3: Taunt

nature: Timid
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Hex is a powerful STAB move when the opponent is affected by status and is preferred to Shadow Ball as it makes up for Mismagius's lack of SpA investment
  • Will-O-Wisp halves the afflicted mon's attack, preventing it from preying on Mismagius's low defense, as well as wearing it down
  • Taunt prevents the opponent from recovering or setting up entry hazards while Mismagius is on the field
  • Pain Split provides Mismagius recovery
  • Memento sacrifices Mismagius to make it easier for a set up sweeper on its team to set up
  • TWave slows down opposing sweepers and cripples their speed so they are easier to deal with later in the match, as well as powering up Hex
  • Pain Split allows Mismagius to be a more dedicated stallbreaker as it doesn't get worn down easily, while Memento and TWave give it more utility vs offensive teams
Set Details
========
  • Colbur Berry allows it to stomach a Dark-type attack, allowing it to switch into attackers potentially carrying Knock Off as coverage such as Sawk and Sandslash once
  • Leftovers provides longevity, which is particularly useful when Mismag is pitted against stall teams
  • EVs Speed tie with other Mismagius and Scyther with the rest put into HP for maximum bulk
  • More Special Attack investment is recommended with a coverage move such as razzle dazzle or HP Ground, or if you prefer Hex being stronger
  • Levitate is its only ability and provides a handy immunity to Ground-type attacks, Spikes and Tspikes

Usage Tips
========

  • Spreading status early onto defensive Pokemon can be beneficial as the damage from Will-O-Wisp can rack up the entire game
  • Taunt should be used on defensive Pokemon attempting to heal, as well as Defog users attempting to remove hazards
  • Mismagius should be switched into users of Rapid Spin if hazards need to be kept on your opponent's side. Even if they predict this, the Rapid Spin will still be prevented and if Mismagius lives, it can threaten the spinner with a Will-O-Wisp
  • Even while heavily weakened, Mismagius still serves as a deterrent from Fighting-type attackers such as Sawk and Primeape using their main STAB attacks. Saving Mismagius until the endgame can prevent an attempted sweep from a Choice Scarf Fighting STAB

Team Options
========

  • Hazard setters such as Garbodor and Omastar because Mismag spinblocks, TSpikes in particular boost the damage output of Hex
  • Scarfers make for good partners as they appreciate Mismagius wearing down bulky Pokemon for a late game sweep as well as having the ability to revenge kill offensive threats that dent Mismag
  • Fighting-types such as Sawk and Hariyama to take advantage of the Dark-types that switch into Mismagius
  • Pokemon that deal with Fire-types such as Hariyama and Samurott
  • If using Memento, set up sweepers such as Barbaracle and Rhydon appreciate the support as well as Mismagius wearing the opposing team down with status

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Destiny Bond gives Mismagius a tool to take out an opposing mon in a pinch
  • Dazzling Gleam hits Dark-types expecting a free hit off while Mismagius is in
  • An offensive Nasty Plot set is viable due to Mismagius's expansive offensive movepool
  • Hidden Power Ground hits Skuntank, one of Mismagius's best counters, for decent damage
  • Substitute dodges status and Sucker Punch

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Pyroar and Magmortar take little from Mismagius's Hex and are immune to Will-O-Wisp. This gives them a free turn to fire off a powerful STAB attack. However, they fear switching into Thunder Wave.

**Faster Pokemon** Though Mismagius has a high speed itself, it is easily revenge killed by faster Pokemon such as Sceptile and Swellow. Mismagius has no good forms of priority to mitigate this.

**Dark-types** Although threatened by Will-O-Wisp, Skuntank and Shiftry take little from Hex and can hit Mismagius with massive damage, even through a Colbur Berry. Special variants of these Dark-types have even less to fear from Mismagius, as they are not crippled by Will-O-Wisp.

**Guts** Pokemon such as Hariyama and Gurdurr that can utilize Guts switch into Will-O-Wisp and use the status to their advantage, while threatening Mismagius back with a Guts boosted Knock Off.

Moves: Mention that Pain Split makes Mismagius the most effective as a dedicated stall-breaker due to not being worn down as easily throughout the match, while Memento and Thunder Wave are more useful for breaking offensive teams on the side.

Set Options: People have discussed investing in the Special Attack stat to improve Hex's power; I personally think the HP investment is more useful overall but it's definitely worth mentioning Special Attack investment as an alternative, especially if you use a coverage move such as Dazzling Gleam or Hidden Power Ground.

Other Options: This is probably a little out there so I'd like to get some advice from others about this, but is it worth mentioning Power Gem here? Fire-types such as Pyroar and Charizard are a lot of team's main checks to Mismagius and Power Gem hits most of them outside of Assault Vest Magmortar for decent damage. I suppose Thunder Wave does an equally good job at stopping them (and is much better vs Combusken) but this requires a teammate to switch into a powerful Fire Blast or other STAB attack. Thunderbolt and Energy Ball also score OHKOes on certain targets but none of them are particularly likely to stay in on Mismagius regardless so I'm not sure how necessary it is to mention either of those here.

252 SpA Mismagius Power Gem vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Charizard: 344-408 (95.5 - 113.3%) -- 75% chance to OHKO

Checks and Counters: Maybe include a section on Guts users; Assault Vest Hariyama often runs Guts to lure in Will-O-Wisp users and KO them while also being able to switch into Scald users with ease, and Gurdurr can't be stopped by Will-O-Wisp either and can just use Knock Off. Hex can do good damage to a burned Gurdurr but it still won't be satisfactory for beating Assault Vest Hariyama.

Overview

  • High speed stat that outpaces threats such as Charizard and Jynx
Unless you run Power Gem, which I'll get to later, Mismagius really isn't doing that much to Charizard besides maybe Thunder Waving it. Pick a different example for something it outspeeds, maybe like Mesprit, Rotom, or Haunter.
  • Immunities to Ground, Fighting, and Normal-type attacks
This is just dex/obvious serebii info, try to make it relevant to the tier by listing some threats which its typing lets it check.
I would say that Mismagius is more vulnerable to Fire-types than Dark-types since at the very least you can wisp most Dark-types while if you're running Pain Split Fire types get a 100% free switch in given how weak Hex is unboosted.

Moves

Specify that Will-O-Wisp cripples physical attackers. Add that Memento severely drops the foe's attacking stats, which is why it gives teammates a setup opportunity. Be sure to add that Thunder Wave's main target is Fire-types since they are otherwise free switch ins.

Set Details

Change Sawk mention to Hariyama.
  • More Special Attack investment is recommended with a coverage move such as razzle dazzle or HP Ground, or if you prefer Hex being stronger
Remove this sentence, it doesn't make sense to have here since Dazzling Gleam and HP Ground are in OO.

Usage Tips

  • Taunt should be used on defensive Pokemon attempting to heal, as well as Defog users attempting to remove hazards
Add some specific examples here. Mention something here about using Thunder Wave to slow down a fast threat such as Tauros or Sceptile, or if your opponent has a Fire type. Change the mention of Sawk to something else.

Team Options

Add that both of those Pokemon appreciate Mismagius's Ground immunity, and Omastar appreciates Mismagius checking Fighting types. Give examples of Choice Scarf users. Change the mention of Sawk to another Fighting type.

OO

Power Gem sounds pretty good on an offensive set ngl, hitting Fire types hard while also donking stuff like Articuno and Scyther (offensive sets wouldn't always run Wisp I presume, can't say I have a ton of experience with offensive mismag), definitely worth an OO mention. I'd like to see OO reordered a little bit. The first thing mentioned should be stating that an offensive set is viable, but in general it is too weak and loses out on a lot of utility that it can provide to a team without investing in bulk. Then just say that it would use some combination of moves such as Nasty Plot, Taunt, Destiny Bond, Dazzling Gleam, Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, and Power Gem.

C&C

Add Camerupt to Fire-types, its arguably the best counter in the tier given that unlike other Fire types it cannot be paralyzed, and in return it can chip away with Lava Plume or blow it back with Specs Fire Blast. Add Charizard here as well, both physical and special sets are troublesome for mismagius.

Give examples of the special dark types.

Remove the last section, Gurdurr is no longer in the tier and Guts yama is not good or common enough to warrant its own section.
