Mixed medium offence

Okay, here goes. After finally deciding to play 5th Gen (I started a few months ago on 4th Gen, prefered to pokes), I trialed through various teams, trying to avoid weather for now. Here's where I'm at, and team seems to work pretty well :

More depth:

Conkledurr@ Flame Orb. Guts
EVs: 224 HP/252 Atk/32 Spd
Adamant Nature (+ Atk/-SAtk)
-Mach Punch
-Drain Punch
-Facade
-Payback

My general lead if it fits. Main role is to punch holes (literally) in the oppositions side. Insurance policy against Ttar, handles most steel's well & great against Ferrothorn. I generally like having a fighting type with priority, he fits the bill nicely.

462.gif

Magnezone@ Air Balloon. Magnet Pull
EV's: 36 HP/252 SAtk/220 Spd
Timid (+ Spd/- Atk)
-Substitute
-Thunderbolt
-Flash Cannon
-Hidden Power (Fire) (30 Atk/30 SAtk/30 Spd)

Used as my steel trapper, hense the HP fire. Although he functions well against a load of none steels and is a great threat vs Water types & 2/3 Genie trio, his main point is simply to take on other steels who could potentially wall my side once Conk's gone.

381.gif

Latios@ Expert Belt. Levitate
EV's: 4 HP/252 SAtk/ 252 Spd
Timid (+ Spd/- Atk)
-Surf
-Psyshock
-Dragon Pulse
-Hidden Power (Fire)(30 Atk/30 SAtk/ 30 Spd)

A general ploy as a fake Choice. Expert belt tricks people into thinking he's choiced due to no Leftovers/ Life Orb. Not meant as a sweeper although sometimes can come late game. He's a general utility offence, can hit virtually anything for a nice chunk of damage an had a few neat resistances for easy switch ins.

Jirachi @ Leftovers. Serene Grace
EV's: 252 HP/224 Sdef/32 Spd
Adamant (+ Atk/- SAtk)
-Stealth Rock
-Iron Head
-Wish
-Body Slam

This is the only moveset I'm unsure on. Thunder wave vs Body slam. I prefer Thunder wave but currently trying Body slam. My defensive core, aimed to set-up rocks and be a general nusence. Also used to pass wishes, mainly to my Dragonite to get his Multiscale re-activated. It's a specially defensive set as I felt generally my team was more vunerable to the special side of attacks, no via stats but more the threats to my sweepers.

091.gif

Cloyster @ White Herb. Skill Link
EV's: 252 Atk/4 SAtk/252 Spd
Naive (+ Spd/ - SDef)
-Shell Smash
-Icicle Spear
-Rock Blast
-Hydro Pump

First of my two set-up sweepers and main aim of my side. Works really well with My other 2 Dragons as it resists there key weakness of Ice. Not sure how to explain this sea creature, it's literally switch in when can, Shell Smash and wreak havok. Although he's weak to Priority, only the Special Side really shows any huge damage. I can usually switch to something else in fear of priority, even after a SS, because it can always come back late game and do some damage.

149.gif

Dragonite @ Leftovers. Multiscale
EV's: 252 HP/44 Atk/212 Spd
Adamant (+ Atk/- SAtk)
-Roost
-Dragon Claw
-Fire punch
-Dragon Dance

My 2nd and possibly more deadly set-up sweeper. A bulky DD set, making full use of Multiscale. If anything the only limiting factor is he has no spin support, but I think SR is a lot rarer now days. Sure, Heatran is common and walls this set, but I'll have generally dealt with it by time Dargs comes in. And a +2 Dragon Claw does deal a load ot Heatran. Roost is obviously there to keep him alive and get him back on that ever so deadly Multiscale.

Okay so that's my side. I release they are all pretty poorly explained, but as this is my first time I was unsure on what to really put. I find it hard to describe them because it's mainly all situational with this side. I'm 11-0 with it so far, not enitrely sure how it works so well it just seems to plug all gaps etc. The main strategy is to fill holes to either set-ups to come in, but often i end up removing 1/2 the opponents side with the others while they try and dance around to avoid letting my set-up. The start of the match is key for me, as once I have the momentum the side seems hard to stop.

So yeah, if there's something I haven't explained just ask away, and obviously the main point is for critism & rating of the side.

Thankyou in advance !

A very good team. But how do you handle banded techniloom?

I've actually never faced a Banded Techniloom *Yet*. I suppose I'd have see what he locked into, as Both my dragons resist both his Stab's. Cloyster can take a Mach Punch *I think* and reply with Ice, but that's providing no rocks.

Hi Jamiroquai! Nice team.

I find that your team is very weak to entry hazards such as Stealth Rock, since both Cloyster and Dragonite both lose 25% of their health upon switching in, making them less effective sweepers. That's why I would recommend a Specially Defensive Forretress (see set below in the spoilers) instead of Jirachi. Forretress' great bulk lets it tank hits from both sides of the spectrum, and it provides your team with invaluable Rapid Spin support, which allows you to get rid of all entry hazards on your side of the field. It plays a similar role to Jirachi, since it also carries Stealth Rock, which is helpful for offensive teams like yours. Gyro Ball lets you hit fast opponents, such as Dragon Dance users, while Volt Switch lets you escape Magnezone's Magnet Pull, while occasionally giving your team a switch advantage, allowing you to keep up the offensive pressure. Leftovers allows Forretress to gain recovery, while Sturdy prevents it from being OHKO'd while being at full health. Another change I would recommend is Charge Beam instead of Flash Cannon on your Magnezone. Charge Beam lets you set up on Steels that can't touch you, such as Ferrothorn. If you can safely switch-in against Ferrothorn, you can set up a Substitute and a couple of Charge Beam boosts, turning Magnezone into a deadly sweeper. After eliminating the Steel-type, you're pretty much guaranteed to kill something else if you have a couple of special attack boosts under your belt, which is great. Finally, I would go with Draco Meteor over Dragon Pulse for Latios. Draco Meteor lets you revenge-kill many opponents thanks to its formidable power, which Dragon Pulse cannot. Although the stat drops suck, it's worth the power. Once Steel-types are gone, you can easily spam Draco Meteor and kill everything not named Chansey or Blissey. Solid team, and good luck!

Thankyou for the feedback !

I'll give Forretress a go, I must admit that the times Rocks have been on the field it's made me change my tactic due to Dragonite's Multiscale being redundant.

The only reason Flash Cannon was on their is because of the extra damage on the rock types such as Ttar, but seeing as it's primarily a steel trapper, the set-up would be great and as stated, can let me damage other stuff more.

As for DM, I'd already considered it, but I often found Dragon pulse did the job, mainly because more bulky foes where usually seseptable to his other attacks. I'll give it another run, what sort of damage can it do in comparison to Dragon Pulse after the drop ?
