Team At A Glance
-------------------
Lead
Metagross@Occa Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 232 HP/252 Atk/ 8 Def/ 12 Speed
Adamant(+Atk -Sp Atk)
-Bullet Punch
-Meteor Mash
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
Metagross is in my opinion the best lead currently available, seeing as the only thing that can stop him is the extremely rare specs Heatran lead. I chose not to use explosion on this set because of this: most Metagross leads have either earthquake OR meteor mash, and the opponent will usually choose the next pokemon depending on which you have. Having both means that heatrans coming in expecting only meteor mash will take an earthquake to the face.
The EVs on this set are a makeover of the smogon set. Slightly more speed to outspeed the standard, and slightly more atk to 2hko most frail leads with bullet punch.
This lead can be used as a suicide lead if needed to get a free switch, but for the most part i keep it alive as death fodder and status absorber for later in the game.
Tyranitar(M)@Choice Scarf
Ability:Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk/248 Speed/8 Sp Def
Jolly(+Speed -Sp Atk)
-Crunch
-Pursuit
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
Tyranitar's main purpose is to take out fast special attackers that would normally wreck gyarados. He can pursuit trap blissey and celebi and one hit the starmie and latias who will expect choice band with crunch.
Tyranitar is also somewhat of a special sponge even though he doesnt have any HP invest.
The final use for tyranitar is simply his sandstorm because this team would otherwise be very weak to rain dance teams.
Gyarados(M)@Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP/108 Atk/100 Def/144 Speed
Adamant(+Atk -Sp Atk)
-Taunt
-Dragon Dance
-Waterfall
-Stone Edge
Dear god... what an epic beast. Taunt gyarados needs no support, and is damn near unstoppable once Tyranitar has eliminated the obvious threats.
Starme, scarf latias, celebi, blissey. Taunt is such a great move on gyarados, preventing thunderwave celebi, other dragon dancers, crocune, and the ever annoying toxic stallrein.
Gyara can take the fire attacks aimed at Metagross after its berry is gone, or the ones aimed at magnezone after a scizor massacre. With its bulky stats and taunt, Gyara is also immune to any version of scizor, be it SD or CB.
I've been told by people who have seen this set that this guy is EV'd "like a clown" and its true, but the EVs work perfectly. They allow gyara to outspeed all common status inflicters before a dragon dance, even the incredibly annying breloom.
Magnezone@leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 172 HP/252 Sp Atk/84 Speed
Modest(+Sp Atk -Atk)
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power (Fire)
-Substitute
-Toxic
Magnezone is the glue that holds this team together. Without it, i would rely soully on gyarados to counter scizor. scizor tears though three of the pokemon on this team and uses one for setup fodder, so i brought this guy in.
The EVs on Magnezone are from the steel killer set on smogon, but the moveset is very different. substitute takes advantage of scizor and hidden power KO's. i put in toxic so that Zone could at least do SOMEthing to things like swampert and blissey. Also to be considered is Discharge over Tbolt.
answers in the posts would be nice.
Latias(F)@Choice Scarf
Ability:Levitate
EVs:252 Sp Atk/252 Speed/4 HP
Timid(+Speed -Atk)
-Draco Meteor
-Surf
-Trick
-Thunderbolt
Simply put: The best revenge killer in the game. Latias outspeeds all dragon dancers and takes care of most in one hit. Trick criples blissey and works better late game when the choice is more hindering. Levitate works well since 3 of the pokemon on the team are hit by ground for supereffective.
Porygon-Z(M)@Salac Berry
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Sp Atk/252 Speed/4 HP
Modest(+Sp Atk - Atk)
-Tri Attack
-Hidden Power(Water)
-Substitute
-Nasty Plot
Dear god... give this guy a chance and he will wreck your entire team. he can 2hko blissey after a NP after stealthrock. This guy is the reason for having magnezone on the team, scizor wrecks his sweep like nobody's business.
4 HP EVs is perfect to give him the salac boost after 3 subs, and with max speed he hits 418 speed after the salac boost so its really not necesary to go timid.
Normal/Water is decent coverage resisted only by a few things, namely empoleon. However empoleon is OHKO'd by tri attack after a nasty plot.
CONCLUSION
This team has its share of weaknesses but for the most part it handles the common ones easily. one noticable thing is that the team has no ghost. i really hate that fact because late lucario can sweep me as well as plotape. but then again, most teams share this trate. The team emphasises speed in all but 2 pokemon and both of those are meant to do things that dont require that much speed.
Also i took the images from an RMT from Twist Of Fate, so thanks to him.
Defensive Threats
Blissey - Ttar can pursuit trap her and also magnezone can sub toxic as long as she doesnt have seismic toss.
Bronzong - Trapped by magnezone and doesnt even KO gyara with Explosion. not a problem.
Celebi - Pory-Z can sub and setup on defesive celebi and gyara can taunt to prevent status. ttar has pursuit for an easy KO also.
Cresselia - Ttar can 2hko w/ crunch and moonlight is crippled by SS. taunt on gyara to be used for setup as long as she doesnt have charge beam.
Donphan - Virtually unseen in OU, but gyarados can KO with waterfall and use if for free DD's, latias can surf it.
Dusknoir - Ttar can crunch but must beware WoW. porygon-Z can take on any non sub-punch versions. can cause problems w/ status and elemental punches.
Forretress - magnezone can trap it and he can spin all he likes while i set up on him...
Gliscor - if gyara is there first, taunt so he cant SD/Taunt/pass lati can revenge with surf. latias needs to watch for pursuitar when revenging.
Hippowdon - lati can surf outright, gyara can taunt his roar and grab a DD.
Rotom-A - Tyranitar can pursuit/crunch for super effective. Anyone that can wisp is a big problem for this team especially since he can t bolt gyara if i taunt.
Skarmory - Trapped by zone, if carrying shed shell can be minorly annoying but gyara can set up on skarm with taunt.
Snorlax - Chubby bunny is a bit difficult to deal with. metagross can handle most types and pory-Z makes a 2hko. can cause issues with 2+ curses... but thats normal.
Suicune - magnezone makes quick work of cune as long as it doesnt have more than one CM, same with pory-Z.
Swampert - can't stop gyara b/c of taunt. w/o taunt pory-z can take it on too.
Tentacruel - lati and zone can come in with T bolt, if worst comes to worst and both are gone meta/ttar have EQ. both of those dont like surf though.
Tyranitar - metagross says F*ck you ttar. also my ttar can KO with a speedy EQ.
Vaporeon - t bolt from zone/lati KO.
Zapdos - ttar can KO with stone edge. no matter.
Offensive Threats
Azelf - TTar easily takes care of zelf. outspeed for the crunch and SS to break sash.
Breloom - gyara outspeeds by just enough to taunt before a DD. lati's Draco meteor is a ohko and zone's got HP fire.
Dragonite - latias... enough said.
Dugtrio - prediction w/ gyara can take out CB sets. wont ko anything but zone anyway...
Electivire - if i give him a boost i gotta let something die so that i can revenge w/ lati. w/o a boost ttar takes care w/ surprise outspeeding.
Gallade - gyarados... if he's gone go to lati for the SD, then pory Z for the shadow sneak and KO with tri attack.
Gengar - metagross can bullet punch for a clean KO lati can ko the non scarfed ones, same with TTar.
Gyarados - Scarf lati says "die"
Heatran - ttar lati and gyara all resist. sub toxic however is quite troubling. suggests?
Heracross -thank god its not seen too much, this thing tears through my team and can murder me if lati is gone.
Infernape - i guess late game nape is a problem but lati and gyara take care of it pretty nicely
Jolteon - ttar
Kingdra - bring in ttar to nullify the rain with sandstorm and scarf lati ko's dd ones easily.
Lucario - gyara can swap in with intimidate and wreck the sweep. scarftar outspeeds for a EQ that will make them ragequit. lmao
Machamp - too slow to really tear through my team. but lati will KO and pory Z will also one hit.
Magnezone - ttar can take it out nicely. lati can wall
and my one zone can trap it just for fun.
Mamoswine - metagross laughs at him. as does gyarados.
Metagross - agiligross can be problematic late game if its got Thunder punch, but for the most part just swap till i get to lati for the trick
then ko with ttar. i dunno... can be a problem?
Porygon-Z - metagross and magnezone resist... not much else.
Salamence - scarf lati outspeeds even jolly DD. woot.
Scizor - ttar is the bait as well as lati. pursuit can be a problem for lati. but then it dies quickly to zone so.. yeah.
Starmie - scarf crunch. done
Togekiss - if its a lead. metagross 2hko's with meteor mash/bullet punch. ttar can SE it mid game too.
Tyranitar - my ttar outspeeds for the EQ, gyara can get a free DD off CB trying to EQ zone. metagross KO's easy.
Weavile -huge problem. can tear though my team with an SD. help?
Yanmega- ttar, metagross if its a lead. idk... not seen much.
Zapdos - ttar again. EZ
