Mommy! A Salamence bit off my face!

Ugh, I haven't had the inspiration to create a team in a while. I've finally made this one, which I think would do fairly well. I'll need your help for advice. I'm in the middle of a tourney and need a stable team. The only reason I got past the first round was because my opponent was disqualified. So hopefully this team will take me far, and help me rebound after that horrid preformance in the first round. Let's GO!

Main Goal:
1. Stack passive damage and stall early on.
2. Eliminate Salamence counters.
3. Pave the way for a Salamence sweep.

"I eat kids at the sandbox!"
Hippowdon@Leftovers
Impish
252 Hp / 252 Def / 6 Atk
Stealth Rock
Earthquake
Ice Fang
Slack Off

As you can guess with this guy as my lead, we have a sandstorm team. Since I want my team to be primarily defensive early on, I chose Hippowdon over Tyranitar. It sets up Stealth Rock, racking up any passive damage. It also kicks off a sandstorm, and aids in physical walling. Overall it's a decent lead. Gengar and Gyarados leads will scare it, so we need counters for those two. Bronzong also walls him, but any opposing T-tar leads get beaten down. Abomasnow is also a scary lead, so the rest of the team will need to pick up the slack for him.

"Touch my rock...and I'll enjoy it..."
Spiritomb@Leftovers
Calm
252 Hp / 200 Def / 56 Sp. D
Rest
Sleep Talk
Will-O-Wisp
Shadow Ball

This would be our rapid spin-blocker. Take that Starmie! With it being the team's status aborber, it should easily take out Gengar (as long as we don't pick rest when sleep talking every time). Bronzong won't like a burn either. Will-O-Wisp helps status things not affected by Toxic Spikes, or anything before TS is set up. Shadow Ball is for Gengar, but also as a reasonable way of doing damage when called for. Spiritomb might also meet Lucario often, in which case Will-O-Wisp is all it can do, but it'll be enoughif it's a Swords Dance version. I picked him over Dusknoir because of the lack of weakness, and rest-talk makes him so much sturdier than Pain Split. Gyarados still remains as a threat, we have no answer to Infernape, and we need some more walls. But for consolation, it does a good job of stopping SleepTalk Machamp!

skarmory.png

"I'm bulletproof."
Skarmory@Leftovers
Impish (Sturdy)
252 Def / 252 Hp / 6 Sp. D
Drill Peck
Spikes
Whirlwind
Roost

This guy contributes to the passive damage and lays layers of Spikes. It also acts as a pseudohazer. Simply switch into something so that it is advantageous for you, and Whirlwind on the predicted switch. It may be difficult to lay 3 layers, so prediction and team synergy will be key to employing such a strategy. It counters some physical walls, and is all around dependable. It doesn't fear electric attacks because of Hippowdon, and stops grass types that toy with Hippowdon. Subseeders may be a problem. Gyarados and Infernape remain a problem, and bulky waters are starting to become a large threat. Heracross is a bit scary. We need a special wall.

"Throw me into the face of a flaming monkey!"
Tentacruel@Leftovers
Calm (Clear Body)
252 Hp / 172 Sp. D / 96 Sp. A / 36 Spd
Surf
Hidden Power Electric
Rapid Spin
Toxic Spikes

Lays down two layers of Toxic Spikes, adding to the passive damage. It'll do a "decent" job of taking on bulky waters, but that shouldn't be its main job. It counters Infernape excellently, and stops rain dancing sweepers. It also spins away any junk on our side of the field. Covers a fire weakness of Skarmory's, and a water weakness of Hippowdon. It itself gets cover from Hippowdon and Skarmory. So far our walling combination is fairly stable, but we'll need some Wish support, or Tentacruel will have no way of staying alive.

jirachi.png

"When you wish upon a star...most likely that wish will never come true. Hehe"
Jirachi@Leftovers
Sassy
252 Hp / 180 Def / 76 Sp. D
Wish
U-Turn
Reflect
Psychic

Provides Wish support to Tentacruel, and anyone else who needs it. Serves as a "decent" double wall. It can put up Reflect if we need the support, but I am thinking of replacing it with Light Screen. Psychic can also be replaced by something too. With those EVs, it should survive an Earthquake from Dugtrio and U-turn out. Same case with Magnezone. Gyarados's sweeping is slightly hindered, but still a threat. We need a reliable counter to bulky waters, and maybe a reliable way to handle subseeders.

salamence.png

"..."
Salamence@Leftovers
Adamant
252 Atk / 120 Hp / 136 Spd
Dragon Dance
Dragon Claw
Stone Edge
Earthquake

Well, this is what we build up to. We wait until everything is sufficiently weakened, bring him out and prepare to sweep. Ice types like Mamoswine and Weavile scare him a bit. Mamoswine is taken care of by Skarmory and Hippowdon, and Weavile is stopped by Skarmory, and hates Will-O-Wisp, and Stealth Rock. We have Tentacruel to keep SR damage away. Jirachi passes it a Wish if it needs it, puts up Reflect to soften blows during DDing, and covers it type-wise well. Spiritomb stops Scarfgar from outspeeding and destroying, and bulky waters are met by Tentacruel. Gyarados hates Stealth Rock, and is hit hard by Stone Edge. When it's ready, it sweeps.

Problems:
1. We have no reliable answer to bulky waters, which are Salamence's main enemy.

2. No sure fire way to stop Gyarados.

3. Difficult to handle subseeders

Some possible changes:
1. Jirachi could have Thunderbolt and Light Screen over Psychic and Reflect.

2. Breloom could fit somewhere if it permits.

3. We could drop Salamence and go for all-out stall, in which case we could consider Celebi, and maybe Wish Umbreon.

4. We "could" throw in Blissey if it seems like we lack special walling.

5. A cleric might be handy but not completely nessecary.

Any advice or criticism you have please tell me.

I don't play OU, but I'm being nitpicky and just letting you know that Stone Edge is listed twice on Salamence's set. Good luck!

Spiritomb should not have Will-O-Wisp because you have Toxic Spikes. You should have HP Fighting or Fire.

I am not so sure about Tentacruel and Skarmory, but you can put Forretress over Skarmory and Vaporeon over Tentacruel, which lets you have Toxic Spikes, Spikes, Rapid Spin and Wish all together. Then you can replace Jirachi with who you want. You might want to find a phazer but in that team I had STalk Heatran over Jirachi and Garchomp over Salamence which can take advantage of Sandstorm.

I haven't done any competitive battling... yet. So far your team looks like it's better than mine.... I imagine there are a few things that need to be changed like the other people said, but otherwise nice.

Team looks like pretty stardard stall-ish team with an averagely bulky DD mence to clean up. Looks like you have yourself covered decently well agaisnt many threats but I'm not sure how well this team could actually work, It seems to lack true synergy besides the fact that you will cause great passive damage with the various spikes and rocks.

However I do not see very much offense in this team at all and I think that other stall teams may outclass you and effectively "out stall" you.

Specificly I see a weakness to Tyranitar especially Boah and Heatran. 5/6ths of your team is weak to Heatran in on way or another; the only reason your team isnt completely weak to Heatran is because Spiritomb has no weaknesses haha. Also I don't see any way that this team can kill Celebi or Cress besides toxic spike stalling. Also SD Luke and Plot Ape may cause you some problems but I feel that there are bigger threats than these two. Dragons will also cause you great problems since you have no true Ice support and Stealth rock will help Mence and Nite it does not solve your weakness to them and I see no way for you to effectively stop Garchomp.

I really think you need more offense than just Salamence. I don't feel that your really need sandstorm at all and I would recomend you to replace Hippowodon with a special sweeper to effectively counter your team's current weaknesses. Heatran and Mix ape both come to mind and could help counter many threats considerably.

Mix Ape:
252 SpA / 232 Spe / 24 Atk
Naive @ life orb
- HP Ice / Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Grass Knot
- Close Combat
You could go with nasty plot but I feel you need help with Dragons and the Ice coverage will be greatly benefical.

I am not a fan of Scarf-Tran but this team may benefit from one greatly:
20 HP / 252 SpA / 236 Spe
Modest @ Choice Scarf
- Fire Blast
- HP Ice
- Earth Power
- Explosion

Overall this team lacks synergy in that it may individuals may be able to counter certain threats I feel that this team does not really work together besides setting up passive damage and preventing rapid spins.

Final nitpick here, definetly change Psychic to Zen headbut and on Rachi and consider investing some attack evs.

Hope this rate helps with your team!

Just an fyi, if you're worried about leech seed, you can change Tentacruel's ability to Liquid Ooze, and switch in Tent on a predicted leech seed.

garchomp hits a lot, youll have to take that out of the picture, if your unlucky it could paraflinch or burn skarm with fire fang, also can revenge kill spiritomb and sandstream gives him a 28% evasion boost(or something like that)
if this is for wifi than what are the IVs

chain chomp could be worse because skarm cant wall it effectively

once spiritomb is gone rapid spinners ruin half your strategy, and with all those entry hazards someone is just gonna switch one in as soon as its gone, and seeing as your team are mostly walls you cant kill something like forry or cloyster

nasty plot azelf absoulutely kills you, especially with life orb,
azelf used nasty plot, hippo used stealth rock/ice fang, azelf killed it
spiritomb was sent out, azelf used t bolt/flamethrower, nasty plot + life orb = possible OHKO
it psychics tentacruel and salamence to OHKO
flamethrower on skarm and jirachi,
azelf could possibly single handedly kill you
