Mono Dragon Team

I just recently started to competitively battle, so any comments/criticism is greatly appreciated. Also I know mono dragon teams probably aren't the most effective as they will always have a huge ice weakness, but I thought with some prediction this team can still perform well.

Dragonite (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Fire Punch
- Outrage
- ExtremeSpeed
This guy is a monster, getting basically a free dd with multiscale then proceeding to kill of many leads with +1 STAB outrage. Fire Punch is there to dent steel types and extremespeed for priority.

Hydreigon (F) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Flamethrower
- Focus Blast
My main special attacker, pretty standard moveset. Draco meteor will hurt pretty much anything for solid damage. Flamethrower if i think a steel type will switch in to take the draco meteor. Dark Pulse for another strong STAB move and Focus Blast is there to destroy Tyranitar and Heatran.

Haxorus (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Mold Breaker
EVs: 36 HP / 252 Atk / 220 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Brick Break
- Dual Chop
The choice band gives Haxorous a ridiculous amount of power. Not many pokes can safely switch into a banded outrage except for Skarmory and a bulky Jirachi. Earthquake is there to take out the steel types while brick break takes care of ferrothorn. The last move is never used so I decided to use dual chop.

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 188 HP / 160 Def / 160 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Wish
- Dragon Pulse
- Toxic
- Calm Mind
Latias is the obvious choice for a wall as it has the highest spec. defense and decent defense. Wish is there to eliminate stealth rock damage when i switch to something else and toxic can cripple some sweepers. I can also try to set up with CM and do some solid damage with dragon pulse late in the game.

Kyurem @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Focus Blast
Kyurem has been working great as a revenge killer. He also completely stops dragonite from setting up. The second Dragonite is switched in I'll switch to this guy to OHKO with ice beam (unless he has some investment in HP) HP fire and focus blast are there for coverage.

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Psyshock

I use this Latios to pretty much just dent the other team making it easier to sweep with my other pokes. Draco Metoer is again an incredibly strong STAB with surf and HP fire for coverage. Psyshock is in the last slot to take care of Blissey and Terrakion.

A big problem has been stealth rock and the obvious ice weakness, but it seems impossible to fix them while remaining a mono dragon team. Any advise on how to alleviate these problems would be great.

First off, too many Dragons! You dont need 6 Dragons , I think only 3. I suggest getting rid of Latios or Latias, Kyreum, and Hydreigion.
Magnezone would love this team by the way. He covers Ice and Rock.

You need some steel types, otherwise another dragon can set up, and literally hit ALL ur pokes for supereffective damage.

And although I fully support monotypes (they are the sh*t), I dont believe too many are competively viable. Good luck with your team, but keep in mind that most dragons suffer from the same exact flaws, and a single weavile, mamoswine, or fellow dragon will tear this team to shreds.

If you do however want to maintain a solid Dragon Mono, why not run a Salamence over Latios, seeing that you need a defensive buff in a Pokemon and a wishpasser to maintain Pokemon like Dragonite and Hydreigon.

Code:
Salamence@Leftovers
Intimidate
Bold / Relaxed Nature
252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
~Wish
~Protect / Roost
~Dragon Tail
~Flamethrower

The whole idea of this Salamence is to work alongside your Latias to form a very pseudo skarm-bliss combonation, albeit neither of these dragons are the epitome of defensive bulk. Wish provides a way to restore Dragonite's health and Multiscale, and maintain your team throughout a battle. Protect can gain you the chance to stall alongside Latias' Toxic, a free recovery turn out of both Wish and Leftovers, and a way to scout a team. Dragon Tail is STAB, and can help Phaze boosting threats that may not fear setting up on Salamence, and a way to mess with a team attempting to abuse the ever-so common Volt-Turn combination. Flamethrower is really useful for nabbing the Steels that will wall your team to no end, namely Scizor and Ferrothorn.

If you are in fact running a pure Dragon mono, good luck.

as far as I know, this thread should go in the Other section of RMT, because no serious OU team can be monotype.

That said, I'd just make Haxorus Rivalry over Mold Breaker. Against same-gender mons the power boost is awesome, and you have plenty of other Dragons to deal with female opponents.

Regrettably, there isn't a whole lot to work with, since all of the hard-hitting dragons that you want don't have time to function as support Pokemon. If you can bear to lose 1-2 Dragons (Latias and Kyurem, prolly), then you can give yourself Magnezone and another good support pokemon to throw up rocks/spikes.

Lead Shell Smash Cloyster will just wreck the team.

Since I believe this should be mono, I'll have no real suggestion, but if you want to change the theme, Magnezone will greatly help the team. You'll be resembling the famous 4Drag2Mag team though.

thanks for the salemence suggestion, Latios wasn't really helping the team much so Salamence will be a welcome replacement. Also I'm gonna try to keep this team mono dragon for now but when I'm done using it, I'll definitely swap a magnezone in and see how it works.
