New to Showdown, but I've been playing a few teams and liked an OU mono-normal I was using, but it had weather issues. Then I noticed many of my team were from UU. So it was a natural switch.
Rating was hovering around 1600 at first. But competition has gotten a LOT fiercer for me lately, and I've dropped to about 1540. But even with the rank drop, I feel the team has improved and I am looking to make it better.

The OLD set
Meloetta @ Wide Lens
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef
Gentle Nature
- Relic Song
- Thunder
- Calm Mind
- Stone Edge
Role: Special Wall, Mixed Sweeper, Paralysis Spreader.
Porygon-Z @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Double-Edge
- Ice Beam
- Facade
- Thunderbolt
Role: Revenge Killer, Physical Sweeper
Special based set is more common, but I didn't have a physical sweeper. and with mono type, it was either this Porygon2 or Sawsbuck. The surprise factor certainly worked at the lower ranks. But ghosts and steels walled him completely and Umbreon or Pory2 slow him down a ton.
Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Trait: Trace
EVs: 8 SDef / 252 HP / 248 Def
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Foul Play
- Ice Beam
- Thunder Wave
Role: Physical Wall. Paralysis spreader.
Foul Play has turned out to be a pretty decent check to Darmanitan, Meinshao, and Victini. Otherwise, he's my physical wall and covers the standard sort of stuff twave Pory2 does.
Togekiss @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 HP
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Aura Sphere
- Psyshock
- Silver Wind
Role: Special sweeper
Air Slash and Aura Sphere are main damage moves. Silver Wind finishes off weak foes and slowly whittles down nonthreatening walls while fishing for a chance to bump up all stats. Speed EVs allows Togekiss to attempt a sweep once threatening scarfers are removed/paralyzed, even if the team is status free.
Snorlax @ Leftovers
Trait: Immunity
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Ice Punch
- Body Slam
Physical Attacking Snorlax. Ice punch is to help deal with flying types and such.
Ditto @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Imposter
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Relaxed Nature
- Transform
You basic Scarf ditto goodness. The good old emergency panic button.

The new team! Version 1.2b
Meloetta @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef
Gentle Nature
- Relic Song
- Thunderbolt
- Calm Mind
- Stone Edge
Role: Special Tank / Special Sweeper
Tbolt's better accuracy is helping and lets me run Mel as more of a Special Tank as opposed to Special Wall and mixed sweeper. May replace Stone Edge and Relic Song and make it a CM and 3 attacks set with a -Attack nature.
Sawsbuck @ Life Orb
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spd
Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 SAtk
- Return
- Horn Leech
- Nature Power
- Jump Kick
I figured I'd just test this guy out for a fight or two, then go back to PoryZ. But he ended up working quite well for me actually. In Sun, the speed EVs are just enough to outpace max speed scarfed Buizel [Base 115]. And by extension Victini, Darmanitan, or Meinshao.
I may switch items, reallocate the HP EVs into Def and/or SDef, and maybe remove a few speed EV's [still need to outpace base 100 scarfs] to help maximize Horn Leech's healing for Sawsbuck is burned or poisoned, but faced with an opponent that won't faint in one or two hits.
Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Trait: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 248 Def / 8 SDef
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Foul Play
- Ice Beam
- Thunder Wave
Role - Physical Wall, Vicini/Meinshao/Darmanitan check, Paralysis spreader.
Exact same set as the old one.
Togekiss @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Spd / 4SAtk
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Aura Sphere
- Roost
- Nasty Plot
Role: Special Sweeper
Speed EVs over the more standard Satk EVs is an unusual playstyle choice here. But, should your opponent NOT be paralyzed (cleric, ground types, etc) it allows Togekiss to outpace many Pokemon to get off some vital Roosts, which gives you more chances to setup or flinch to death. It also makes leading Togekiss an option, if you forsee your opponent leading with a nonthreating lead that doesn't usually have toxic/paralyze.
Snorlax @ Leftovers
Trait: Immunity
EVs: 252 Atk / 52 Def / 200 SDef / 4 Spd
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Sunny Day
- Fire Punch
- Body Slam
Roles: Physical Attacker, Paralysis spreader, Sunny Day support for Sawsbuck.
Switched EVs to the standard Physical spread and added Sunny Day + Fire Punch since Pory2's Ice Beam and Meloetta's tbolt cover most of what the old Ice Punch did. If I anticipate Snorlax going down soon, I'll put up Sunny Day and sacrifice him to open up a potential Sawsbuck sweep (In sun, he outspeeds SCARFED BASE 115's). Considering Thick Fat, Heat Rock, or even Twave plus Heatrock then blowing myself up.
Ditto @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Imposter
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Relaxed Nature
- Transform
Same set as before. Same uses as usual.
Leads: Depends on how I read the enemy team and what I expect them to lead with. Pory2 is my normal lead, but I have lead with Snorlax or Togekiss if I see a good opening for them.
Potential Win Conditions
Togekiss sweep after I Parayze/kill all fast threats to Togekiss.
Lategame Snorlax sacrifice to safely setup Sawsbuck (though I'll often use them both to tear holes in their team during early or mid game).
Remove all physical threats and Toxic/Para users, and proceed to Calm Mind Meloetta sweep.
Ditto copies something awesome.
