Mono-Poison and a Cobalion :D

hey there, me and a couple of college buddies have a tournament every wednesday using Mono+1wildcard teams. please RMT and help me be covered for anything they throw at me.

drapion.png

Drapion @Focus Sash
Ability: Sniper
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SpA)
252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP EVs
Moves:
Whirlwind
Aqua Tail
Earthquake
Toxic Spikes

Drapion is pretty fast with 317 Speed, but with focus sash i am guaranteed T-spikes set-up. Whirlwind to inflict other enemies. Aqua Tail and Earthquake for coverage.

Nidoking.jpg

Nidoking @choice Specs or scarf?
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
Ability: Sheer Force
252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 HP EVs
Moves:
Earth Power
Thunderbolt
Fire Blast
Ice Beam

Nidoking has always been one of my favorite pokemon, but he never fit in any of my teams til now. Earth Power for STAB, the rest is coverage. I was considering changing Ice Beam for Sludge Wave for STAB, but Fire Blast and Ice Beam is already coverage, especially for dragon.

Roserade @ Big Root
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
Ability: Poison Point
252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 SpD EVs
Moves:
Giga Drain
Leech Seed
Venoshock
Shadow Ball

Roserade has one of the highest base SpA for a grass or poison type. Giga Drain + BigRoot = DAMAGE. Leech Seed for more healing and to get the opponent to switch (might replace with Leaf Storm.. Roserade's Leaf Storm unboosted is unmatched, or with toxic in case toxic spikes is spinned away). Venoshock thanks to Toxic Spikes will do even more damage. Shadow Ball for Psychic coverage.

545_Scolipede.png

Scolipede @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Poison Point
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SpA)
252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP EVs
Moves:
Earthquake
Megahorn
Rock Slide
Poison Jab

Scarf Jolly Scolipede ? unmatched speed .. for the most part. Earthquake and Rock Slide will destroy most things, Megahorn and Poison Jab are STAB

gengar.jpg

Gengar @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 HP EVs
Moves:
Thunderbolt
Venoshock
Shadow Ball
Focus Blast

Not much to say about this one other than being obvious. Thunderbolt and Focus Blast is coverage. Venoshock (+ T-Spikes) and Shadow Ball are STAB

3Cobalion.png

Cobalion @ I'm not sure what to put.
Ability: Justified
Naive Nature (+Spe, -SpD)
252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 Atk EVs
Moves:
Focus Blast
Volt Switch
Thunder Wave
Quick Attack

Cobalion is much sturdier than its type-twin Lucario. Focus Blast is unreliable STAB, might switch to Close Combat. Thunder Wave + Volt Switch = stunning (haha) hit-n-run. Quick Attack is to take out Sash'd/Sturdy Pokemon with priority in case if thunder wave doesn't stop them.

Please let me know how my Mono+1WC team would fare with other Mono+1WC teams. and i will be posting other Mono+1WC teams to be evaluated.

I play mono-poison quite a bit, and I would highly recommend fitting Venomoth on your team:

Venomoth @ Focus Sash
Ability: Tinted Lens
Timid Nature
252 HP, 252 Spe, 4 SpA
Sleep Powder
Quiver Dance
Bug Buzz
Baton Pass

If you can successfully pass a QD boost to Nidoking, it's basically over. That kind of power and coverage is unstoppable with a little speed. With that in mind, Nidoking should use a Life Orb instead of a choice item. The ability to switch between moves is critical, plus his ability prevents Life Orb recoil. Venomoth can also pass to other members of the team, as you have plenty of good special attackers.

Now, I don't know what rules you guys have regarding that wildcard slot, but if there's no restriction I think that Cobalion could be replaced with something better. You want to take advantage of that slot to cover your weaknesses, specifically ground and psychic. You've made good choices to deal with these already (Gengar and Drapion for example) but it's not enough.

Hydreigon is immune to both of these types, and decent against fire which looks like another problem for your team. It also happens to be an absolute monster, and a good alternate target for Venomoth's pass.

Good luck, and it's good to see someone out there with such good taste in types.

Who should I replace for Venomoth? I'm thinking Scolipede. And I forgot all about Hydreigon's levitate! I'll definitely look into that.

Destroyed Everyone! Replaced Roserade with Venomoth and made a last minute decision to change Scolipede for Skuntank who was destroyed my friend's Mono Psychic with a Taunt/Sucker Punch combo :D
