Gholdengo is a real treasure in Mono Steel! Gholdengo is an excellent Choice Scarf candidate on Steel teams thanks to its incredible Special Attack and excellent dual STAB combination. Gholdengo's Make It Rain helps deal with Iron Valiant and Choice Specs Flutter Mane, two Pokemon that are very troublesome for Steel teams. Shadow Ball threatens common Ghost-type Pokemon such as Spectrier and Dragapult. Psychic helps ease the Fighting matchup by taking care of Okidogi and Urshifu-R, while Thunderbolt helps break through Pokemon such as Keldeo and Corviknight. Finally, Trick allows Gholdengo to severely nerf opposing walls that would hope to switch in to Gholdengo, such as Assault Vest Tornadus-T and Gliscor. Kingambit can help remove special walls such as Ting-Lu and Hisuian Goodra that would otherwise completely wall Gholdengo. Teammates that can set entry hazards, such as Archaludon and Skarmory, are excellent teammates, as Gholdengo completely nullifies entry hazard removal. Archaludon can also use Thunder Wave to paralyze faster opponents, such as Ogerpon and Sneasler while Skarmory can also switch into Ground-type attacks that would otherwise make quick work of Gholdengo.

Gholdengo's Make It Rain helps deal with Iron Valiant and Mamoswine (skarm just goes in tho, maybe just Iron Val is enough. Also deals with FM since CS Ghold doesnt OHKO Mane with sball), two Pokemon that are very troublesome for Steel-type teams. Shadow Ball threatens common Choice Specs Ghost-type Pokemon such as Flutter Mane Spectrier and Dragapult. Psychic helps ease the Fighting-type matchup (its mainly a x4 move vs Okidogi + hits Urshifu), while Thunderbolt helps break through Pokemon such as Tornadus-Therian (hits Keld and Corv at the same time) and Corviknight. Finally, Trick allows Gholdengo to severely nerf opposing walls that would hope to switch in to Gholdengo, such as Assault Vest Tornadus-T (or even Cloddy) Toxapex and Gliscor. Teammates that can set entry hazards, such as Archaludon and Skarmory, are excellent teammates, as Gholdengo completely nullifies entry hazard removal. Archaludon can also use Thunder Wave to paralyze faster opponents, such as Choice Scarf Flutter Mane (Ogerpon formes?) and Sneasler.
