Chople Berry Archaludon

Archaludon @ Chople Berry
Ability: Stamina
EVs: 252 HP /252 Def /4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Flash Cannon
- Body Press
- Iron defense

Set Description

While i created this specific set as one of the few ways Dragon had to check Chien Pao,even when it got banned,i found it still quite useful in our nowdays Metagame, able to check and defeat great threats like Sword Dance Samurott Hisui, even when it uses Sacred Sword which ignores Archaludon Stamina Defense change. It also checks Mixed Iron Valiant ,a great danger to Dragon, and now even more that Gouging Fire is banned.Equipped with Chople Berry,Archaludon is only 3koed by Close Combat Iron Valiant (be Life Orb or Expert Belt) and then strick back and ko Iron Valiant with Flash Cannon in return,
252 Atk Life Orb Iron Valiant Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Chople Berry Archaludon: 153-181 (39.8 - 47.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO.) This set also beats unsuspecting Sneasler and Urshifu Rapid Strike thinking it
it can ko it with Close Combat and then get koed by Draco Meteor in return. This set also beats non Sword Dance Iron Hands one on one.

This set might be even more interesting than before, now that the metagame drastically changed because of Gouging Fire.It helps immensely vs Bug,who now got way better because of the fire dog disappearance, bug will simply use scizor Close Combat to take out Archaludon but with Chople Berry along with Iron Defense,it will put Bug into a dangerous spot.

Teammates

Goodra Hisui(Assault Vest or leftovers) complements and helps this Archaludon set to check special attackers aiming at Archaludon, who would greatly weaken or ko it,like greninja(Choice Scarf or Choice Specs),Choice Specs Latios,Choice Specs Dragapult,Volcarona,Flutter Mane,Primarina, etc.Infiltrator Specs Dragapult also greatly help this set as it helps archaludon vs Fairy, now even more than before cause of Gouging Fire ban,Choice Specs Shadow ball Pult pierce through fairy defenses as it have 0 switch ins.

Shift Gear Revavroom

Revavroom @ Air Balloon
Ability: Filter
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spe/4 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Shift Gear
- Gunk Shot
- High Horspower
- Temper Flare

Set Description

Revavroom is a set up sweeper for steel similar to Scizor and Bisharp, what it has over those two is the fact that it isn't reliant on a single prioity move to kill fast targets, as with Shift Gear it can outspeed the vast majority of the metagame. With a combination of Filter and Air Balloon it is hard to kill Revavroom with anything other than a strong STAB fire move, with things like Specs Dragpult Flamethrower and Scarf Sneasler Close Combat failing to pick up a kill allowing for many chances to set up and sweep. The movest is practically unresisted in the metagame (only Minior resists), and if a player tries to dodge damage from High Horsepower or Gunk Shot using an immunity then Temper Flare gets a nice damage buff. The other notable thing that Revavroom does is checking Primarina, who can often tear through steel teams, threatening a clean OHKO with Gunk Shot. As with Scizor and Bisharp a full sweep is often not needed, simply killing/chunking a few key targets before going down is often enough to break open the game.

Teammates

Skarmory's hazard stacking is very valuable in bringing opposing mons down to a level where Revavroom can pick up KOs, Gholdengo allows those hazards to stay on the field, and it along with Heatran and Archaludon can use their strong special attacks to break through physical walls that Revavroom would otherwise struggle with, such as Great Tusk.

SubPunch Breloom

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Leech Seed
- Spore

Set Description

This Breloom sets acts as a stallbreaker for grass, which struggles with it, even with band rillaboom around. With spore, it can keep a key threat out of the game, and use the momentum of spore (or even of the threat thereof) to set up a substitute and start throwing around focus punches. Leech seed can inflict extra chip onto defensive walls, and allow it to recover the 25% required for substitute in a single turn. Despite this, it is the most replaceable move, as a second attack can allow breloom to handle other mons beyond walls. This set completely walls Toxapex, against flying, it can set up on Skarmory (after sporing it), non brave bird Corviknight and Gliscor, and against poison, on Alolan Muk and Amoongus.

Teammates

Breloom appreciates Rillaboom's grassy surge for extra passive recovery, Meowscarada to deal with the ghost types that wall this set and to bring it in safely with U-turn, and Sinistcha complements it well defensively with its solid bulk, calm mind and strength sap. Brambleghast's spikes also work to further weaken walls.

Offensive Moltres

Moltres @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 40 Def / 252 SpA / 216 Spe or 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Flamethrower
- Scorching Sands
- Substitute / U-Turn / Hurricane
- Roost

Set Description

Moltres has a respectable base 125 SpA and solid base 90 Speed allowing it to serve as a solid special breaker for Flying teams, notably being an excellent breaker of Steel and being able to respectably threaten Bug teams. Flamethrower deals with annoying Steel- and Ice-types like Skarmory, Alolan Sandslash, and Frosmoth. Scorching Sands gives Ground-type coverage allowing it to smack Fire-types like Ceruledge and Heatran. For its final core moveslot utility options, Substitute is nice on predicted switched allowing Moltres safety against foes like Hisuian Arcanine and Kleavor along with being able to safely get positioned infront of foes like Toxapex and Gliscor. Alternatively U-Turn can allow it to pop Heatran's Air Balloon for later along with safely pivoting out against bad matchups into threats like Hoopa-U and Hisuian Samurott. Finally Hurricane allows for Moltres to easily remove Volcarona and Ogerpon-H.

The first EV Spread used allows for Moltres to outspeed the base 85s allowing safe pivoting against foes like Hisuain Samurott if running U-Turn while giving Moltres and incredibly solid chance to live Choice Band Meowscarada Triple Axel. Alternatively we can just go all in outspeeding Glimmora, Excadrill outside of Sand and Pecharunt, along with speed tying Hisuain Arcanine giving us a 50% chance to OHKO it with Scorching Sands I guess.

Teammates

Gliscor and Landorus help immensley against Electric-types attemping to remove Moltres like Sandy Shocks, Raging Bolt and Regieleki along with being able to set Stealth Rock to help weardown checks like Rotom-W. Skarmory helps against Rock-type attackers like Iron Boulder and Kleavor which otherwise easily remove Moltres. Zapdos check Water-types like Urshifu-R, Hisuain Samurott, and Araqunaid along with threatening opposing Flying-types that can prove problematic like Moltres and Tornadus-T. Choice Scarf Enamorus can help with dealing with the Dragon-types that can easily take Moltres' STAB like Latios, Dragonite, and Hydreigon.

Life Orb Infernape (Fighting)

Infernape @ Life Orb
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk /4 SpA /252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Mach Punch
- Overheat
- Stone Edge
- U-Turn

Set Description

Infernape has both a great attack and special attack stat, which allows him to check physically walls such as defensive support Tusk or Gliscor, allowing for a 2HKO. Infernape’s high speed paired with Mach Punch also allows it to pretty much ignore moves like Sucker Punch and Thunderclap, along with outspeeding other priority move users like BP Scizor. U-Turn lets Infernape make quick getaways against unfavorable matchups such as Enamorus-I or Munkidori, and making quick work of Psychic type threats like Hoopa-U, Hatterene and Galarian Slowking. Stone Edge is this build’s most notable feature, giving Infernape the ability to deal with Bug and Flying types, especially Volcarona, which normally fair well against fighting type teams. Stone Edge also deals with Monotype staples with a rock weakness like Ogerpon-H or Ceruledge. Some Flying and Bug types have a secondary typing that helps against Stone Edge, like Corviknight, both Landorus forms, Scizor and Forretress, but you’re better off using Overheat against those Pokémon anyway. Infernape also takes neutral damage from Fairy type moves, which is well-needed on a Fighting type team.

Teammates

Infernape pairs especially well with bulkier Pokémon to use as switch ins like Deefensive Support Tusk or AV Hands, or Pokémon that cover Infernape’s weaknesses, like Hawlucha, Cobalion and Keldeo. Infernape’s ability to easily deal with hazard setters like Defensive Gliscor and Forretress allows for spinners (in this case Great Tusk) to get rid of said hazards for good, especially Web or T-Spikes.

Scarf Chomp (Ground)
Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 72 Atk / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
  • Earthquake
  • Draco Meteor
  • Fire Blast
  • Stone Edge

Set description

Are you bored to play Landorus choice scarf ? I introduce a fun way to replace it ! Being a dragon Garchomp has obviously awesome stats on both side physical and special and an interesting coverage but forcing mixed set because physical will struggle against physical walls and especially Skarmory and on special side by almost every special sponge not being able to set up on this side. So what are the threats for ground : Lati@s, Urshifu-RS, Keldeo and to some extent because hard to get Articuno and Volcarona. This is the perfect set to delete them ! Providing also a neutrality to grass STAB for Ogerpon and resistance to mask forms, it threatens them and put pressure against them.
72 Atk Garchomp Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Articuno: 384-452 (100.2 - 118%) -- guaranteed OHKO
72 Atk Garchomp Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Volcarona: 360-428 (96.2 - 114.4%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO (who plays this ? just to say Volc is 100% 0HKO)
72 Atk Garchomp Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ogerpon-Hearthflame: 222-262 (73.7 - 87%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
72 Atk Garchomp Earthquake over 2 turns vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 314-372 (97.2 - 115.1%) -- 81.3% chance to 2HKO
184 SpA Garchomp Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Latios: 266-314 (88.3 - 104.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
184 SpA Garchomp Draco Meteor over 2 turns vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 326-385 (95.6 - 112.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO after hazards
or 72 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 144-169 (42.2 - 49.5%) -- 85.9% chance to 2HKO after 1 layer of Spikes
184 SpA Garchomp Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 216-256 (64.6 - 76.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
184 SpA Garchomp Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Forretress: 488-576 (137.8 - 162.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
184 SpA Garchomp Draco Meteor over 2 turns vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Ogerpon-Wellspring: 223-263 (74 - 87.3%) -- 87.5% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes
72 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex: 152-182 (50.1 - 60%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Teammates

You will appreciate hazard setters and bulky teammates to eat hits that could threaten our sandy dragon and especially ice and neutral moves. A good teammate is also Landorus whatever the form that can set up gravity and helps Garchomp especially against steel immunity core chain and Clodsire for special moves, Water absorb, another grass neutrality and dealing with Ogerpons, Azumarill, fairy moves and setting up hazards.
If you are playing sand ground well Hippowdon and Mamoswine are also good teammates for this set: a good physical wall able to put chip damages with sand and drop stealth rock, and a mammouth for ice moves. But this is not the best way to make it shine.
If you are going for more Fat to Bulky Offense archetypes, you can choose to be more defensive with Quagsire for physical side, avoiding physical set up, toxic and with the Sires duo set up a lot of hazards : spikes and stealth rock. You will need a spinner with specially defensive Iron Treads being able to take Ice Beam, fairy and dragon moves. Or you can choose to be offensive with Great Tusk providing Rapid Spin and an interesting physical bulk meaning you will need Mamoswine for Ice Beams and Gliscor utility to help having a little bit of bulk.

RestTalk Ting-Lu (Ground)
Code:
Ting-Lu @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Vessel of Ruin
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ruination
- Whirlwind
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Alternative EV spread:
Ting-Lu @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Vessel of Ruin
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ruination
- Whirlwind
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Set Description
Ting-Lu is known to be an extremely bulky Pokemon, but its lack of recovery outside of Leftovers decreases its reliability as a wall long-term. Thus, it usually ends up being used as a hazard setter in the early game. This set forgoes its hazard setting capabilities in exchange for making Ting-Lu an exceptionally annoying wall. All Pokemon who cannot 3HKO Ting-Lu are simply unable to break through, while those who can still have to worry about randomly being switched out or taking substantial damage, making it difficult for the opponent to make full use of the Sleep turns. Ruination deals heavy damage and can force the opponent to exhaust recovery moves like Roost. Whirlwind is used for phazing and accruing hazard damage. Rest is Ting-Lu's only recovery option, and Sleep Talk is used so Ting-Lu is not completely passive when asleep.

Ting-Lu can either run a physically defensive EV spread or a balanced EV spread with investment in Special Defense. The specific set that should be used depends on what other Pokemon are available on the team. Heavy-Duty Boots is used so Ting-Lu can freely switch in without worrying about entry hazards. Leftovers is another option if there is sufficient hazard control on the team.

Teammates
This set works best on defensive Ground teams where other Pokemon are available to set hazards and take hits that would heavily damage Ting-Lu. Clodsire is an excellent special wall with a Water immunity that can pair well with Ting-Lu's weaker Special Defense. Gliscor provides important resistances to Fighting and Bug, a Ground immunity, and the ability to absorb Knock Off and status. Gastrodon and Quagsire are options to provide an Ice neutrality. Having other Pokemon take attacks that threaten Ting-Lu while switching Ting-Lu into non-threatening attacks allows Ting-Lu to better stall out its Rest turns. Moreover, all of these Pokemon have access to multiple forms of hazards, allowing for flexibility with who sets which hazard. In teams that desire hazard control, both Iron Treads and Great Tusk have access to Rapid Spin.

Dragon Dance
Kommo-o @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Drain Punch
- Dragon Claw
- Taunt
- Dragon Dance

did a lot of the explanation on my rmt so i'll be very brief - https://www.smogon.com/forums/threa...ce-kommo-o-peak-1-1816.3761949/#post-10488998

set description
end game cleaner that shuts down defensive pieces with taunt. works best once the opposing team has been sufficiently chipped down.

teammates
notably struggles with ghost and fairy types, so teammates that can deal with those are appreciated. good examples include roaring moon, goodra hisui, and archaludon. roaring moon is good because you can spam powerful attacks without having to worry about its longevity too much, as long as it does enough to put enemies in range of a +1 or +2 kommo-o drain punch / dragon claw. goodra helps with knock and switching in to fairy moves, archaludon does the same but provides hazard support.

:Moltres-Galar: Rest-Talk Moltres-Galar (Flying)

Moltres-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Berserk
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 248 HP / 164 SpA / 80 SpD / 16 Spe
Calm Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Fiery Wrath
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Set Description

Most Flying-type cores struggle against bulky Nasty Plot Gholdengo, especially Thunder Wave + Hex variants, in addition to being weak to Ghost-type moves in general. Pokémon like Choice Specs Fluttermane, Spectrier, Hisuian Zoroark, and Choice Specs Dragapult can freely spam Shadow Ball against Flying teams, fishing for Special Defense drops.
Galarian Moltres has excellent bulk, similar to Articuno, but lacks reliable recovery. 16 Speed EVs allow it to outspeed common Archaludon sets. 248 HP / 80 SpD investment ensures it can tank powerful hits from threats such as Choice Specs Fluttermane’s Moonblast, Choice Specs Latios’ Ice Beam/Thunderbolt, Choice Specs Greninja’s Ice Beam, and Choice Specs Kyurem’s Ice Beam, giving it the ability to chip them down or even KO them in return. The remaining EVs are put into Special Attack, allowing Moltres-Galar to break through bulky teams that struggle to handle it, particularly non-Articuno Flying, Mono-Poison, and Mono-Steel teams.
Many teams in the current metagame rely on status moves to neutralize threats like Moltres-Galar, including Toxic from Gliscor and Toxapex, and Thunder Wave from Archaludon and Gholdengo. However, these moves often turn into setup opportunities for Moltres-Galar, making it even more dangerous.

Teammates

Rather than listing the entire Flying-type defensive core, the most notable partner is Corviknight, which prevents Choice Specs Fluttermane from freely spamming Moonblast against the team. Corviknight also provides Defog support in case Moltres-Galar’s Heavy-Duty Boots get removed and helps tank Ice-type moves, while generating momentum with U-turn - especially useful against Gholdengo, a common switch-in to block Defog.
Gliscor helps cover Electric-type attacks while setting hazards to wear down opposing teams, creating more opportunities for Moltres-Galar to force switches. Swords Dance Gliscor is also a great option, providing a strong physical breaker to complement Moltres-Galar's special presence.
On the offensive side, Choice Scarf Landorus-T supports the team with powerful Earthquakes and U-turn for momentum. Dragonite is another excellent choice, offering strong Extreme Speed priority to revenge kill threats and acting as a late-game cleaner. Additionally, Dragonite’s resistances help cover Flying’s weaknesses in matchups against Water- and Fire-type teams.

Many thanks to everyone who shared their creation with the community! :)

This first edition of the Monotype Rising Sets has come to an end. I would like to thank again all the passionate builders who shared their sets and the voters who took the time to elect the Rising Set of the month or should I say the Rising Sets of the month!

As careful observers will have noticed, Choice Scarf Chomp (Ground) and Dragon Dance Kommo-o (Dragon) both ended up getting 4 votes, they thus win both this event.

Congratulations to cpt.kraken and RoyalReloaded for winning this first edition!

As promised, both sets will be uploaded on SmogDex and be featured in the Monotype Room :) However, as Royalreloaded is ineligible to receive the roomprize rank ^, only cpt.kraken will receive it.

A survey will also be launched later to get your feedback on this event, so stay tuned :)
