Other Metagames Monotype Team - =[Metallic Outrage]=

Welcome, One and All!
So, recently (literally 2 hours ago), I found out about Monotype, and I found I was decent at team building. First I started off with someone's Monotype - Dark Tyranitar M Houndoom Core, and I was pretty good with it. Then I decided to edit it, and it became decent. So I decided to make a new team; Mono Steel. Now I find it's good, but it has no way to heal statuses with, say, a heal bell or aromatherapy, as steel types don't learn either of those moves. Anyway; lets get straight into it!

Iron Man! (Scizor-Mega) @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 40 Def / 176 SpD
Careful Nature
- Aerial Ace
- Bullet Punch
- Roost
- U-turn

'As the swift Scizor floats over the horizon, it picks off it's prey with a lightning fast Bullet Punch...'

The star of the show! M Scizor boasts very good Attack, with a base of 150. It's defence isn't far off, stealing the spotlight at a whopping 140 base (pretty damn good for a physical tank / sweeper). It's a perfect mixed tank, with a combination of decent HP, Good Defence & Typing and attack! It can survive things like HP Fire from a Mega Venusaur, but not much else (252+ SpA Mega Venusaur Hidden Power Fire vs. 248 HP / 176+ SpD Mega Scizor: 212-252 (61.8 - 73.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO). However, for what it lacks in fire resistance, it pays for in offense! With a 60 BP STAB Bullet Punch Priority, this makes for an excellent fairy smasher. Aerial Ace is good for the bulkier grass types and fighting types (like Breloom), but can't do much to Mega Venusaur (252+ Atk Technician Mega Scizor Aerial Ace vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Mega Venusaur: 152-180 (41.7 - 49.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO), even WITH max attack and a helpful nature! Regitank (Registeel) @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Clear Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 240 HP / 196 Def / 72 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
- Rest

'As Brendan's Swellow flew towards the ceiling of the chamber, Registeel emerged, content with it's new challenger...'

Boy oh BOY! This thing is a beast! To start off with, although not the most benificial ability, Clear Body allows for unaffected defensive stats, meaning it's a toughy! Being able to counter a lot of the teams threats, this baby is pretty tanky! And that Seismic Toss is guaranteed 5hko to anything that isn't impervious to it, allowing a Toxic Resto Chesto Stall. Also, just to point out, it looks EPIC. However, Charizard Y in sunlight offensive can OHKO Registeel (252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 240 HP / 72+ SpD Registeel in Sun: 384-452 (106.3 - 125.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO). However, with a few tweaks, Registeel can be made to withstand that hit, although there would really be no point, unless you wanted to switch and use him later, as he does **** all to Zard Y. However, with no sun, it would survive (252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 240 HP / 72+ SpD Registeel: 254-302 (70.3 - 83.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO). As you can see, it's a decently bulky Pokemon, although he could be replaced with Heatran.

Fortress (Forretress) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
- Spikes
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Zap Cannon

'As the Forretress revealed itself, suddenly a Heatran appeared. Ready for the worst, Forretress stood ready to fight.'

Okay. This is an insane gimmick, I know. However. I do know of quite a few times the Zap Cannon has been very useful. Forretress is my base hazard stacker & remover. He's quite easy to defeat, but he can wreck havock on enemy lines if allowed to. Zap Cannon increases its survivability by about 25-50%, meaning you get at least an extra layer of Spikes up (or a rapid spin). All in all, it's a decently reliable hazard setter, although is frail to fire.

Jirachitroll (Jirachi) @ Life Orb
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Body Slam
- Heart Stamp
- Refresh

'From the stars in the ancient past, they come to play, but they never last!'

The quote above is literally both Jirachi herself and her foes. Iron Head and Heart Stamp give decentish coverage for flinches, and Body Slam gives the paralysis needed to begin the trolling. Refresh is in case Jirachi gets a burn, meaning she can still do damage. She can take a weak hit, but is pretty frail anyway.
I know many a foe that rage quit when facing this ;)

Spr_6x_601.png

Kinky ;) (Klinklang) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Def
Jolly Nature
- Gear Grind
- Shift Gear
- Thunder Wave
- Return

'Floating around the plant, the Klinklangs shifted gear, ready to obliterate the imposter.'

Now this is quite a gimmick to be honest, but it's pretty decent. It can take 1/2 weak hits, allowing for a Shift Gear to be set up. Then comes the T Wave, then another Shift Gear, until it's ready for the Gears to be Grinded or for the effort to be returned (ba-dum-tsh!). It fears quite a few Pokemon, but it can be a clutch god.

Ferrotwat (Ferrothorn) (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 156 HP / 8 Atk / 92 Def / 252 SpD
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Curse
- Toxic
- Protect

'As the Chargestone Caves were anhilated by Team Plasma, one foe still stood. Ferrothorn and his fellow Ferroseed.'

Ferrothorn is another good, bulky stall Pokemon, often forcing switches or soaking up an Earthquake or Outrage. With Curse, it can become an unstopable monster, especially with Toxic Seed and Protect. It also severly injures things like Garchomp and Zard X if they make contact, soaking up almost every move thrown at it.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the team, and now to steal it (what you've all been waiting for)! Also, here's a battle I did to test it out: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-292883363

Y u steal mah team ;(
Peace out and give me feedback down below!

Don't use Zap Cannon Forretress, use Volt Switch instead. Use Swords Dance over Aerial Ace on Mega Scizor and Bug Bite over U-turn. Your Import has Iron Defense in Jirachi though I think it should be Heart Stamp. Don't use Life Orb on Jirachi Though and Refresh is a waste of a moveslot, use Wish. Don't use Thunder Wave on Klinklang, use like Wild Charge. On Ferrothorn I suggest Gyro Ball since you're using Curse. Team looks kinda decent after you changed those things. Rating 4/10

I dont think you saw the point I was making with this. refresh is to stop status as otherwise im fucked, wild charge has recoil which I cant cover, gyro ball is bog standard but I might use, zap cannon forretress is for paralyze (might change to t wave if it can learn it), u turn is to get out if I see something I dont like the look of (momentum), life orb was a random choise as I couldn't decide if I should go lefties.

This is a really original take on a Steel-type team, but it gets completely steamrolled by a bunch of common types such as Fire and Psychic(Victini Spam), due to its lack of Heatran, which is basically a necessity. Also, some of the sets you have selected aren't the best they can be, and for some I'm not even sure what the purpose is. Honestly, most of your team choices (Registeel, Klingklang, Aerial Ace Scizor, Curse Ferrothorn with no moves) aren't very viable in the Monotype metagame. I'd suggest checking out the Monotype Room on Pokemon Showdown!, or looking at the viability rankings.

First of all I'd like to agree with thimo on just about everything he said. Also I'd like to say that in addition to what he said running lum on forretress is kinda a waste. In addition to this but your replay is kinda meaningless, it fails to address common threats in monotype such as lando-i which utterly destroys your team, fire monos, fighting monos, and pokemon such as mega sableye. Also you said earlier that without refresh on jirachi you would be utterly fucked, no offense but right now I'm thinking that status shouldn't be a problem considering you're running 2 lum berries and a chesto resto on a mono that is immune to toxic where pokemon like heatran will face next to no trouble from status.

1 thing I'll also note is the fact that since you have so little coverage and so much status, pokemon with taunt or sub will be able to steamroll you. Sub-Zapdos for example will have no trouble whatsoever in beating this team by itself

Your team is a mess. Fire, water, ground, and dark destroys your team. recommending going to the sprite gallery on the mono website for better ev's and sets http://monotypeps.weebly.com/sprite-gallery.html.
There is a nicer way to say things, chompers.

Anyways, I do agree this team does need some work, a lot of the suggestions said above will help you out bud, especially adding heatran, and editing some of the sets. I would give more suggestions but unfortunately atm I don't have a lot of time, you can PM me on PS of you want help. Gl! :)
