Monotype Wildcard is not a new idea to Monotype and has been the format of a few tours in the room, though scarcely. The idea is essentially to be able to add a single Pokemon that does not share a type with the rest of the team to even out something the type is normally weak to. This can range from offensive Dragon teams using Mega Scizor to fix their weakness to Fairy teams to more defensive routes such as adding Mega Sableye to Normal teams. This has created a unique metagame with tons of interesting and new ideas not available in regular Monotype to explore. It will be interesting to see all the ideas everyone comes up with for the tour and how each battle will turn out!
SPECIFIC RULES:

  • This tournament will be Single Elimination.
  • All rounds of this tournament will be a Best out of 3.
  • This tournament will be played in the Ubers format to allow all Monotype-eligible Pokemon while being able to bypass the Same Type clause.
  • In addition to the regular Monotype banlist, Dugtrio, Deoxys-S, Deoxys-D, and Landorus are restricted from being used on other types. Also, please only use Pokemon allowed in Standard Monotype as using banned Ubers Pokemon in a game will result in a forfeit of that game.
  • All replays must be posted, as this allows me to check over every team to make sure nobody has taken advantage of the format the tournament is played in. This means I will be looking over all replays. Whether you want to PM them to me or post them publicly is up to you.
  • If replays are not posted or sent to me, the game will not count and will be coin-flipped.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown, either on the Main server or on the Smogon Tours servers. Matches played on any other server will be void and must be redone on one of those 2 servers.
General Tournament Rules / Guidelines:
  • Identity: I expect many battles to be completed under alts. This can be bad for tournament security, and thus I will make this clear: If I hear any whispers of identity theft (battling as someone you are not) or proxy battling (helping someone else battle through PM) I will not be pleased and I will take severe actions.
  • Scouting: I do not want to hear anything about counter teaming, at all. Do not complain about it. I also don't want to hear about any blatant scouting. There is a difference between "[user] is known for using the Fire-type" and "let me follow [user] around all day to watch all his battles since I am his opponent". I expect a lot of the former and none of the latter. I give permission to all battlers to ask any person spectating their battle to leave if they do not want them watching. Everyone will have access to your replays from earlier rounds, though.
  • Timer Clause: If your opponent asks you to hurry up while choosing moves, please oblige. If you are doing a damage calculation for a key turn, that is one thing, but prolonging every move is suspicious and annoying. Don't do it. Furthermore, Battle Timeout is a rule for a reason. If you run out of time, you lose--it's as simple as that. It does not matter what your opponent says. Do not battle if you think you will have to leave mid-battle, and instead reschedule for a better time.
  • Disconnections: In the case of a disconnect, the decision is in the hands of the player who did not disconnect. The options are: redo the battle move for move, redo the battle with the same teams but different moves, or redo the battle with completely different teams. If the battle was without a doubt over, they may also take the win. Any suspicion that a disconnect was committed on purpose to redo a match may be appealed to me, and if I feel this happened there will be severe consequences. Don't do it.
