Good morning, afternoon, evening, or night. Welcome to the MonotypeOM version of Break This Core! In this weekly event I, Elvira, will be previewing and reviewing different Wildcard based teams and posting them each week. The purpose of this is to have a bit more creativity building wise while also allowing the community to vote on what they think would be a good way of checking certain types with the allotted wildcard. Each week going forward there will be a new core that is dropped and posted.

Every Tuesday, 3pm -4, a new team will be posted weekly with a brief analysis followed by its wildcard to make a core comp. Voting will go up Wednesday at 10am -4 and the week's core will end on Sunday 11:59pm -4.

Rules

  • Voting cycles will go up every Wednesday 10 am -4. Wildcard based teams will be posted effectively Tuesdays at 3pm -4. Updates and pings to this will also happen.
  • THE SAME POKEMON CAN BE USED EACH WEEK. For example; Blissey can be used week 1 on Fat Flying V1, and in turn can be used again for something like Bulky Psychic.
  • An explanation is required, although it doesn't have to be too long. Calcs and Replays are not required, however they help to better support your submission and argument.
  • When submitting teams to break the weekly Wildcard core comps, please make sure to have viable sets and spreads. I will be analyzing these.
  • If you have any issues with building look to the Viability Ranking Thread.
  • Finally please be respectful to each submission and post. If I see any maliciousness to any submission you will be disqualified and can not participate in future weeks.

DRAGMAG HAZARD STACK.

:sv/Magnezone: :sv/Archaludon: :sv/Kyurem: :sv/Latios: :sv/Dragapult: :sv/Garchomp:
Typically you would see Arch Hoodra as a defensive core but DragMag is making its return. With Spikes + Stealth Rock and Roar on Kyurem, one is able to efficiently create an ideal issue for mons that do not run heavy-duty-boots. Magnezone is the ideal trapper. Luring in Steel-type pests like Skarmory and Corviknight. The power houses of this team are Latios with complimentary coverage, Specs Dragapult, and Earth Power Garchomp to deal with opposing Archaludon's and setup hazards.

SUBMISSIONS END WEDNESDAY 9:59 AM -4. VOTING WILL GO UP AFTER.

DRAGMAG Hunter

:Garchomp: :Archaludon: :Iron Crown: :Gholdengo: :Goodra-Hisui: :Iron Treads:

The Dragmag Team in the core lacks speed tier to handle scarfers and is mostly attributed towards special attacks. My team is based on Steel Chomp. Now alot of people will think that why would I choose Steel when Magnezone traps it, well that is half true but my team deals it via 2 volt switch users Iron Crown and Iron Treads. These two while providing a pivot also threaten Magnezone on thier own.
252 SpA Choice Specs Iron Crown Focus Blast vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Magnezone: 272-322 (79.3 - 93.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Iron Treads Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 24 Def Magnezone: 508-604 (148.1 - 176%) -- guaranteed OHKO
The core team revolves around setting up hazards, Iron Treads easily cleans those and can also punish Dragapult with Ice Spinner on a expected Rapid Spin switch, Air Ballon also helps Tread dodge ground moves from Garchomp and heavily injure it back.
252 Atk Iron Treads Ice Spinner vs. 0 HP / 88 Def Garchomp: 300-356 (84 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Iron Treads Ice Spinner vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Dragapult: 200-236 (63 - 74.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
The Dragmag team also lacks hazards removal it self so, I added Stealth Rock along with Set up on Garchomp which easily punishes Kyurem and can get threatening even after a single scale shot and can threaten Scale Shot or Swords Dance on forced swicthes.
Switching in to a Specs Iron Crown is highy threatening when it eyes down magnezone or kyurem forcing them to switch.
Gholdengo can easily status and clean rest of the team when Garchomp and Magezone are out. Scarf Archaludon also abuses the low speed of the team and cleans the team after magnezone is out and can also threaten Magnezone with help of Aura Sphere.
Lastly, Goodra Hisui provides easy switch ins from Spa attacks and easily threaten alot of the care when magnezone is eliminated.
This team is also overall good in the meta and can also be used normally as Steel has alot of immunity mons and along with Garchomp it sears open the Fire mu which used to be heavily dependant on Heatran. Garchomp easily cleans the fire mu and also can easily set up due to Scale Shot + Swords Dance combo.

Bulky Flying with Scarfed Spectrier

https://pokepast.es/8181e2aa13561054

:landorus::gliscor: :corviknight: :articuno::tornadus therian::spectrier:

The team is based off of bulky flying using slow u-turn pivoting to bring Landorus and Spectrier in safely.
Gliscor can set rocks which punish switches and also threatens to remove held items with knock off. Gliscor also has no fear of magnezone and forces it out upon switching in. This allows it more opportunities to remove held items from the rest of the team. Protect allows it to scout damage a regain health from poison heal. Corviknight lures in magnezone but can escape with u-turn the turn after it comes in. If magnezone faints then it can defog safely. Articuno is the other ice neutrality for the team and threatens garchomp with 4x freeze dry. Tornadus is regen assault vest with u-turn and another source of knock off.
Landorus threatens everything but latios on the dragmag team with sheer force life orb due to a general lack of speed.
Spectrier is a very dangerous sweeper once the opposing team is chipped because of its ability giving it +1 spa each time it ko's allowing it to easily finish a weakened team.
252 SpA Spectrier Shadow Ball vs. 72 HP / 0 SpD Latios: 264-312 (82.7 - 97.8%)

Special Spam Ghost with Iron Valiant
:Flutter_Mane::Spectrier::Gholdengo::Dragapult::Ceruledge::Iron_Valiant:
One of my favorite teams to use in SV has always been Shadow Ball Spam Ghost team. That's where this team originated from as I have built a regular SV Mono team with those 5 Ghost mons but with specs Gengar over Iron Valiant to add yet another Shadow Ball spammer. So when making this team, I exchanged the Gengar (since although it's a fun mon, it's sadly not good) for an Iron Valiant because it massively helps with the 2 roughest Matchups for this type of Ghost team. Dark and also Normal.
Why I chose this team for the cycle is quite simple. This dragon team has no ghost resist and also lacks Goodra-Hisui so the Shadow Ball Switchins are VERY limited and this can easily be exploited. Basically the gameplan is to pressure from turn 1 onwards (probably by leading with Ceruledge since it becomes useless once rocks are up) and then just spam them into the ground. You have basically 4 mons that can sweep in an endgame (Flutter Mane, Iron Valiant, Spectrier and Dragapult) which all have shared checks on that team so they can just help each other at weakening their checks so that at the end one of them is healthy and cleans up a weakened team. So long story short: lead with Ceruledge, you can play pretty careless and just throw everything at the opponent until 1 of your sweeper sweeps. The only thing you need to watch out for, is to either keep Flutter Mane alive or Iron Valiant healthy for the opposing pult (as it needs to be at 100% to tank a Shadow Ball)

WALKING WAKE STEEL!
:sv/Skarmory: :sv/Scizor: :sv/Heatran: :sv/Archaludon: :sv/Gholdengo: :sv/Walking Wake:

Steel arguably being in a weird good yet bad spot without Gouging Fire in the meta anymore makes it predominantly fun to rebuild around. As the meta before relied on Scarf Arch & Balloon Heatran. This week's Core is solely built around the looming threat of Volcarona which has seen brighter days since Gouging was banned. Walking Wake with boots provided an immunity to Hazard Stack teams while also being able to pose a threat to the likes of Mothra. With Draco Meteor posing threat to Dragon and hitting hard naturally, I opted for Hydro Pump over Hydro Steam to have more raw damage potential. Flamethrower to help versus mirrors as well. And Flip Turn to maintain momentum. Can you beat this core?

Hello! This is mistchief. This team aims to capitalize on the featured team's lack of switch-ins to Ogerpon-H and Specs Greninja's Dark Pulse, while keeping them healthy with Wish from Alomomola. Ogerpon's Taunt prevents hazards from Skarmory, while Ivy Cudgel lands at least a 2HKO on all but Walking Wake, who is hit super-effectively by Play Rough (252 Atk Hearthflame Mask Ogerpon-Hearthflame Play Rough vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Walking Wake: 242-286 (71.3 - 84.3%). Although Play Rough is a 2HKO, we have reliable switch-ins to Walking Wake via Empoleon and Primarina. Progress is easy to obtain with a combination of Flip Turn on 4/6 members to ensure constant momentum and safe switching, Empoleon removing Heavy-Duty Boots with Knock Off, and Swampert to set hazards.

Walking Wake Fire

https://pokepast.es/cf229728ab368f0b
Although the loss of gouging fire may have hurt fire hard in wildcard you can use a different proto mon.
Infernape is the lead and shuts down archaludon/skarmory's hazards with taunt. Focus sash ensures it can live a turn 1 meteor if arch leads and trigger its sturdy turn 2 with cc.
Flamethrower cooks skarm while avoiding rocky helmet. Infernape can even beat walking Wake with cc if its sash is intact.
Air Ballon heatran can set our rocks and be used as a switch in to the opposing heatran.
Rotom offers a slow volt switch and a backup sun source while providing a useful ability in levitate.
Ninetales offers sun and healing wish so walking wake can sweep a second time.
Ogerpon-h threatens everything but the opposing walking wake.
Walking Wake is our main sweeper with its evs set to gain speed proto and three strong moves while leaving the last slot for flip turn which breaks sturdy while letting wake escape arch.
244 SpA Life Orb Walking Wake Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 330-390 (98.8 - 116.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

244 SpA Life Orb Walking Wake Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Walking Wake: 408-484 (120.3 - 142.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

244 SpA Life Orb Walking Wake Hydro Steam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Heatran in Sun: 468-554 (144.8 - 171.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

244 SpA Life Orb Walking Wake Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 104 SpD Gholdengo in Sun: 359-424 (94.9 - 112.1%) -- needs minimal chip for guaranteed OHKO

244 SpA Life Orb Walking Wake Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Archaludon in Sun: 263-309 (81.9 - 96.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Scizor dies to any fire type hit so I didn't do anything official
