Something I put together for fun
Politoed (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 84 HP / 252 SAtk / 172 Spd
Modest Nature
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Focus Blast
Choice Specs Toed. This is my special sweeper and hits hard. What mono-water team would be complete without Drizzle. Focus Blast is going to KO anything that doesn't resist it, Surf is for STAB, Ice Beam deals with Grass types, HP Grass takes care of opposing water types.
Tentacruel (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 36 HP / 220 Def / 252 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Toxic
- Protect
- Scald
- Substitute
You all remember Stallrein on Hail teams? Well say hello to StallCruel. Acts just like Stallrein would except doesn't get the damage from hail. Still though, Tentacruel has better typing and resists steel and fighting so can take Conkel down in a one on one thanks to the resistance to fighting. The only thing this set fears are Guts/Poison Heal users so Toxic won't hit. Not to worry though as my next guy hurts all of them.
Feraligatr (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 Atk / 56 SDef / 200 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Superpower
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
Choice Band Feraligatr, my physical sweeper. The only viable set in OU thanks to it being outclassed by Gyarados for the most part until Sheer Force is released. Jolly and 200 Spd EV's allow it to outspeed most things. Max Atk to hit hard and the SDef EV's help even its defenses out since it has a good HP. Superpower is to hit Tyranitar, Fero, and any other Steel or rock that resists Waterfall and also takes down Obamasnow. Waterfall is its best attack for STAB and in rain, it is almost impossible to not take significant damage unless they resist it. Earthquake is for those pesky Electric types and for Ninetales. Ice Punch takes out Garchomp and other dragons along with Thunderus.
Gastrodon (F) @ Rindo Berry
Trait: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Block
- Yawn
- Earthquake
- Memento
The trapper set. This thing is immune to Water thanks to Storm Drain and immune to electric. Come in, Block on the switch, Yawn to put it to sleep and then Memento to cripple. Earthquake is the STAB of choice as it deals with Ninetales and any smartypants Electric that thinks it has a free chance. Rindo Berry allows it to take just about any Grass attack.
Lanturn (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 36 HP / 220 Def / 252 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Confuse Ray
- Thunder Wave
Speaking of immunity to a type. Lanturn's signature ParaFusion set. Spread paralysis and then confuse. Thunderbolt is preferred over Thunder as you could get screwed if a weather change happens. Ice Beam finished the BoltBeam and allows you to hit any Ground or Grass type dumb enough to get a free switch in.
Kingdra (F) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Sniper
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Waterfall
- Substitute
Kingdra in rain without Swift Swim? Sounds odd but thanks to the proposal, it cannot be used. Sniper is a nice alternative as there is that increase in a critical hit. This is my finisher. Max Speed and max attack allows this to do its job. Sub and then Dragon Dance. Finally you have two STAB choices and both are equal in power. Waterfall in the rain or sand, Outrage everywhere else.
Thoughts and suggestions welcome.
