Mowing the Lawn

Introduction
This is my first OU RMT but I have been playing on Pokémon showdown since August. Well I wanted to build a team around a Rotom Mow as it its typing allow it to tank special attacks and nuke water Pokémon. This team is fun to play with and has a good record.

Team building Process

I started the team off with rotom mow as it matches well against rain and can grab momentum for my team. I chose a support set allow for the ability to spread paralysis and for tanking special attacks.

Since I knew I wanted a FWG core and needed something to tank Rotom’s weaknesses in came roartran who has great synergy with rotom. Only the fighting weakness is left which brings me to the next member of the team.

Completing my FWG core and adding the ability to tank attacks on the physical side Slowbro. With regenerator slowbro can act as a bulky pivot and can spread paralysis for the team

Next came scizor as he adds priority for the team and forms volt turn core with rotom. I chose a trapper moveset as it can pursuit trap ghost and physic types that cause issues for this team

Since I wanted another pokemon who can grab momentum and dish out lots of damage in came Mienshao which can fake out and u-turn to provide momentum while destroying the opposing team with hidden power ice and hi jump kick

For the last slot I needed a spinner the common spinners (forretress, starmie, tentacruel) compounded weaknesses already present in the team so in came Donphan who can dish out damage with stab earthquake and slay dragons with ice shard
The Team

Rotom @ leftovers
Ability Levitate
Nature Calm (+SDef.-Atk)
EVs: 252 HP|76 Def|180 SDef
Moves
Leaf storm
Volt switch
Thunder wave
Pain Split
Rotom is great at countering rain teams and checking ground and water moves for Heatran as well as electric and grass moves for Slowbro. He also can add momentum by spreading paralysis and volt switching out to allow for another mon to take out the other Pokémon. Leaf storm is a nuke that can deal heavy damage to mons that don’t resist it and allows me to beat rotom-w 1 on 1 while pain split is used for recovery.
Rotmo mow is a great OU pokemon his typing gives him a good matchup against rain and sand and allows him to gain momentum for the team
20090105180143!Heatran_en_Pok%C3%A9mon_Ranger_2.png

Heatran @leftovers
Ability Flash Fire
Nature Calm (+SDef -Atk)
EVs 248 HP|252 SDef|8 Spe
Moves
Protect
Roar
Stealth Rock
Lava Plume
Heatran is awesome at setting up rocks and acts as phazer to rack up entry damage to make a Mienshao sweep easier in the late game. Protect can be used to scout the opponents team and lava plume is there to make sure I can take on weakened attackers or nuke forretress and ferrothorn and scizor. The latter of which I use protect first to make sure Heatran is not taking a superpower to the face. Heatran also helps check sun teams who would otherwise steamroll this team.
If I am facing a rain team I usually try to get rocks up and then eliminate their spinners such as starmie and tentacruel with rotom. Sand and sun are quite easy to get rocks up unless I predict wrong and get killed by a fighting or ground move

Slowbro @ leftovers
Ability Regenerator
Nature Bold (+Def –Atk)
EVs HP 252|Def 240|SDef 16
Moves
Scald
Physic/Pyshock
Thunder wave
Slack off
Slowbro is the major physical tank on this team and also serves as great bulky pivot to switch thanks to his ability regenerator. The 16 SDef evs allow me to take on weak special attacks better adding to Slowbros longevity. Scald is a must have on any defensive water type as the burn chance is always a good thing. Physic and Pyshock both have their pros and cons Physic is better at taking out most fighting types. While Pyshock deals more damage to the pink blobs and terrakion in sand. Thunder wave maims sweepers and allows for my team to go on the offense after all of the opponent’s fast mons are paralyzed or weakened. Slack off is there as reliable recovery.
Slowbro is my physical wall it allows me to take on outraging dragons quite easily and support from T wave is quite appreciated.
Scizor.png

Scizor @ Life Orb
Ability Technician
Nature Adamant (+Atk –SAtk)
EVs 248 HP|112 Atk| 148 SDef
Moves
Pursuit
Bullet Punch
U-turn
Roost
Scizors job is to mainly take out ghosts and physics who mienshao has issues with (hi jump kick is hard to spam with a ghost on the other team). Life orb is used over choice band as it allows scizor to beat subdisable or mysticgar with no issues. Pursuit allows me to trap ghosts and physics. Bullet punch is there because it is a great priority move and one of the reasons to use scizor in the first place. U-turn allows me to keep momentum up and gives me a stronger option against physic types. Roost is used to make up for life orb recoil and allows me to get a few more switch-ins to latios and latias.

Mienshao @ Life orb
Ability Regenerator
Nature: Naïve (+Spe –Sdef)
EVs 252 Atk| 4 SAtk| 252 Spe
Moves
Hi Jump kick
U-turn
Hidden Power ice
Fake Out
Mienshao is a dedicated lead and sweeper for this team. At the beginning of the match Mienshao is used to break holes into the opponent’s team and clean up after ghosts and faster pokes paralyzed. Hi jump kick is a powerful stab but has to be used with good prediction as losing half health is horrible. U-turn add momentum as well as nabs physic types. Hidden power ice is used to kill gliscor and Lando-t who would otherwise wall this set. Fake out is used to scout opponents move sets by determining the item they are using. As well as allows Mienshao to pick off weakened pokes and gives Mienshao a form of priority.
donphan.png

Donphan @ leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Adamant (+Atk –Satk)
EVs 252 HP| 216 Atk| 40 Def
Moves
Earthquake
Ice Shard
Seed Bomb
Rapid spin
Donphan is used as a bulky tank he often sacrifices himself to maim a sweeper such as Keldeo or dragon that I let setup too much. Earthquake is a strong stab and seed bomb allows me to deal damage to a Rotom-W thinking I used earthquake It also deals significant damage to water types such as Starmie and Keldeo. Ice shard is used for priority and the ability to kill dragons such as Dragonite and Garchomp. Rapid spin is used for obvious reasons. I know the EVs are a little weird but 40 defense EVs act as a buffer against physical attacks. EV's are open to change.
Conclusion

Thanks for reading my RMT. I appreciate your criticism and insight into making this team better. Please

Hi

One thing you might find threatening is sun teams with Dugtrio. Like to most Weatherless teams, sun teams are a difficult match up. This is mainly because you give them the weather advantage right off the bat and their abusers have very little counters. While you do have one of their best counters in theory, Heatran, it gets easily trapped by Dugtrio which makes it easy for sun teams to curbstomp the rest of your team afterwards. Dugtrio is extremely common on sun so I think you should fix that issue. One way to deal with sun teams is to get your own weather to counteract the sun. I don't think you really need a spinner so you could try out Hippowdon over Donphan. Hippowdon can summon Sand to neutralize the effects of Sun, and Sand is a pretty neutral weather anyway, so you won't see much difference, aside from dealing with opposing weather a lot more easily. Hippowdon is also an excellent Stealth Rock setter, so you can use it to set up your hazard instead of Heatran, which can use Toxic instead, a very useful move to cripple things like Latias or Rotom-W.

One thing you might find really hard to deal with is Thundurus-T. While you do have a x4 Electric resist being Rotom-C, it can't do anything to Thundurus-T except watching it set up and then proceed to sweep the rest of your team. The Double Dance set will be incredibly threatening as you can't stop a +2 SpA Thundurus-T from sweeping your team at all. I think that Mienshao is kinda out of place on this team. Mienshao is a frail offensive Pokemon who doesn't really add to the team, as you don't have a lot of offensive pressure to make use of the momentum provided by U-turn scouting. Your team lacks a real surefire sweeper who can win you games, so I think that using a CM Latias over Mienshao would be a great idea. Latias gives you a reliable Thundurus-T answer as well as a way to end games. It fits your team's style perfectly in my opinion.

Lastly you can probably use a different Scizor set. Your current set is great on offensive teams as it can trap a lot of stuff without losing a lot of momentum but your team is a lot more defensive. I think that the classic Choice Band set would fit your team better, as you already have a way to beat Special Dragons easily with Heatran, and Choice Band Scizor makes up for your team's lack of Speed with a much more powerful Bullet Punch to revenge kill stuff.

Here are the sets you should use:

Good luck!

Thanks a lot Jirachi usually with dugtrio if I predict properly its a non issue otherwise I find myself losing once heatran is down. Heatran can deal with Thundurus-T fairly well as long as it does't get a nasty plot mind you but roar is there if it sets up. Donphan can come in on a predicted thunder and ice shard but you're right it is a huge problem and I might switch donphan to Latias to provide the team with a cleaner and a special wall.
In regards to hippowdon I like him a lot and will test him out but running sandstorm as my weather is not very productive as it negates leftovers on Rotom (who really needs it) as well as i have nothing to abuse it such as Stoutland.
Next, Scizor I realize the trapping set is better for an offensive team but I am more bulky and can take out gengar better life orb bullet punch still koes and I am not locked into a move so a pokemon can't setup as I switch out. Also with the choice set I can't use roost which makes my scizor last a lot longer.
Finally, I get what you're saying about mienshao not fitting here but it has won me so many games it is great scout and can clean with the proper team support. I do find though I have issues once Mienshao is down but it helps against gliscor and ferro in the rain if I switch Donphan to Latias I have back up sweeper in case mienshao faints earlier in the match but lose a spinner.
